Abstract: Provided herein is a gas mixer for the safe mixing of a hydrocarbon containing gas with a gaseous oxidant. The gas mixer and method for mixing described includes a closed mixing vessel where bubbles of gas injected at the bottom of the vessel are mixed during their rise to the top of the vessel, forming a homogeneous mixture that can safely be removed. This simple design and method allows for safe mixing of gases and is applicable to catalytic oxidative processes such as oxidative dehydrogenation of paraffins where there is a risk of thermal runaway of reactions.

Abstract: A vertical axis wind turbine system having a vertical mast with one or more turbine units supported thereon. The turbine units are of modular construction for assembly around the foot of the mast; are vertically moveable along the height of the mast by a winch system; and are selectively interlocking with the mast to fix the turbine units in parked positions. The turbine system and each turbine unit includes a network of portals and interior rooms for the passage of personnel through the system, including each turbine unit. The electrical generators, and other sub-components, in the turbine units are of modular construction that permits the selective removal and replacement of component segments, including the transport of component segments through the portals and interior rooms of the turbine system while the turbine units remain supported on the mast. The electrical generators are also selectively convertible between AC generators and DC generators.

Abstract: A new and distinct form of Veronica plant characterized by purple blue flowers in narrow spikes, a dense, compact, spreading habit, small, medium green leaves, excellent branching with flower spikes at end of every branch, excellent vigor, and good garden performance.
Abstract: A hinged component comprises a polyethylene composition having a density of from 0.940 to 0.965 g/cm3, a melt index of less than 30 g/10 min, a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn of less than 5.0 and a unimodal profile in a gel permeation chromatograph.
Abstract: A new and distinct ×Heucherella plant substantially as shown and described, characterized by a trailing habit, a strongly lobed leaf, leaves than are purple silver in color, light pink flowers, and excellent vigor.
Abstract: Barrier films are prepared from a blend of two high density polyethylene blend components and a high performance organic nucleating agent. The two high density polyethylene blend components have substantially different melt indices. Large reductions in the moisture vapor transmission rate of the film are observed in the presence of the nucleating agent when the melt indices of the two blend components have a ratio of greater than 10/1. The resulting barrier films are suitable for the preparation of packaging for dry foods such as crackers and breakfast cereals.

Abstract: A catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane with an empirical formula Mo—V—Te—Nb—Pd—O produced using a process comprising impregnation of the Pd component on the surface of the catalyst following a calcination step using a Pd compound free of halogens. The resulting catalyst can be used in both diluted and undiluted ODH processes and shows higher than expected activity without any loss of selectivity.

Abstract: A system and method for prolonging a useful lifetime of an energy storage. The method includes: determining, based on a first set of test storage data of the test energy storage, a first set of test configuration parameters comprising a first maximum charge level for the test energy storage, wherein the first set of test configuration parameters corresponds to a first estimated useful life; determining, based on a second set of test storage data of the test energy storage, a second set of test configuration parameters comprising a second maximum charge level for the test energy storage, wherein the second set of test configuration parameters corresponds to a second estimated useful life; and sending, to a controller of the test energy storage, reconfiguration instructions, wherein the reconfiguration instructions are based on the second set of test configuration parameters, wherein the second estimated useful life is longer than the first estimated useful life.
