  • Publication number: 20170343301
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for thick fins on the surface of coils or tubes in a steam cracking furnace. The fins have a thickness at their base from ¼ to ¾ of the radius of the furnace tube. The fins have grooves or protuberances on not less than about 10% of a major surface. The fins help increase the radiant heat taken up by the tube from the walls and combustion gases in the furnace.

  • Publication number: 20170335077
Abstract: Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) that is prepared with a single site catalyst has relatively low modulus in comparison to a polyethylene of similar melt index and density made with a conventional Zeigler Natta catalyst. Films that are prepared from polyethylene having a low modulus have a soft and flexible “feel”, which is undesirable for some packaging applications. The present invention provides a method to increase the modulus of single site catalyzed polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 9816973
Abstract: A system and method for compositional analysis of a process stream in an industrial process transports a liquid process stream through an absorption/desorption packed column (A/D column), along with a carrier gas. A gas phase combination of the carrier gas and one or more solutes from the liquid process stream is passed out of the A/D column to a flow cell for analysis by an analyzer to determine presence and concentration of the one or more solutes within the gas phase. A processor uses the concentration of the solutes within the gas phase to perform a headspace analysis to determine the concentration of the solutes in the process stream.

  • Patent number: 9808328
Abstract: Bird carriers and methods of restraining birds are disclosed. Each bird carrier may include a torso support, one or more leg clamps, and a head support. The head support may further include a beak receiving passage such that at least a portion of the birds' beaks are exposed. The bird carriers may restrain one or both legs and heads of the birds while supporting their torsos. Restraining the legs and the heads of the birds while supporting their torsos may produce a calming effect such that the birds exhibit significantly reduced struggling in an attempt to free themselves from the carrier.

  • Publication number: 20170313634
Abstract: The selective oligomerization of ethylene to produce a mixture comprising octene and hexene is conducted in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a source of chromium; two different P—N—P ligands and an activator. The phosphorus atoms of both ligands have ortho-fluoro phenyl substituents. The nitrogen atom of the first ligand has an isopropyl substituent. The nitrogen of the second ligand has a larger/bulkier hydrocarbyl substituent on the N atom. The hexene produced by the process of this invention has very high alpha selectivity.

  • Patent number: 9803622
Abstract: A vertical axis wind turbine system having a vertical mast with one or more turbine units supported thereon. The turbine units are of modular construction for assembly around the foot of the mast; are vertically moveable along the height of the mast by a winch system; and are selectively interlocking with the mast to fix the turbine units in parked positions. The turbine system and each turbine unit includes a network of portals and interior rooms for the passage of personnel through the system, including each turbine unit. The electrical generators, and other sub-components, in the turbine units are of modular construction that permits the selective removal and replacement of component segments, including the transport of component segments through the portals and interior rooms of the turbine system while the turbine units remain supported on the mast.
