Abstract: A smart poster system is provided, which includes a smart poster comprising an NFC device, a mobile device for communicating with the NFC device, and a server unit for providing content to the mobile device, wherein the NFC device is arranged to provide the mobile device with an address of the server unit, the address comprising a counter value, which counter value represents the number of executed read accesses to the NFC device. Also, a method for providing a secure communication channel between a mobile device and a server unit in a smart poster system is conceived, wherein the smart poster system comprises an NFC device for providing the mobile device with an address of the server unit, and wherein the NFC device, upon generating the address, incorporates a counter value into the address, the counter value representing the number of executed read accesses to the NFC device. Thereby, the authenticity of both the NFC device and the server unit is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20120208459
Abstract: Near field communication (NFC) devices may be required to operate at low power and so process small signals which are more susceptible to corruption by noise. An NFC device 100 is described having an antenna 10 which can be adapted to receive signal from a further NFC device. When a signal is received by the antenna, an input voltage is generated. A variable resistance element 12 is connected in series between the antenna 10 and an amplifier 14, which is adapted to increase the input resistance with increasing input voltage. By increasing the resistance when the input voltage is increased, the current drawn from the coil is reduced. This results in a lower overall power consumption of the device while maintaining reliable performance, because the higher input signal level is less susceptible to corruption by the noise generated by the variable resistance element 12, and the amplifier 14.

  • Patent number: 8237458
Abstract: The present invention relates to electromigration testing and evaluation methods and apparatus for a device under test with an interconnect structure. The method comprises forcing the occurrence of a step resistance-increase of the interconnect structure due to electromigration in the first layer and subsequently subjecting the interconnect structure to at least three respective predetermined stress conditions while concurrently measuring a test quantity indicative of an electrical resistance of the interconnect structure. The method allows performing an electromigration test in much shorter time than known electromigration testing methods, without loss of information or accuracy. It is therefore possible to accelerate the optimization of the interconnect manufacturing process so that the conductor electromigration kinetics remains compatible with a required product lifetime.

  • Publication number: 20120194151
Abstract: Consistent with an example embodiment, there is a power regulator arrangement with variable current capacity providing power from a power supply to a load having variable demand. As a load, a high-performance microprocessor has several modes of operation. At the highest speed setting, it demands a lot of current. At slower clock speeds and during state retention, the processor has a very low current consumption. Using a single regulator, the current efficiency may be very low during long standby periods. To increase the efficiency even at lower load currents, a scheme is based on parallel operation of multiple regulators having different load ranges, for example, a “low, “medium,” and “high” range regulators. Having knowledge of the load current profile, the regulators can be adjusted such that the peak of the efficiency curve matches the load profile of the regulator. The efficiency of the power regulator arrangement is enhanced throughout the range of power demanded by the load.
