Abstract: A method for producing compressed or expanded images is provided. For compression or expansion in a direction of the lines of the image, a line factor is determined as a starting value for a line variable. After this, the following steps are carried out cyclically: if a momentary value of the line variable is greater than zero, the source image data being processed is copied and used as a target image data Next, the momentary value of the line variable is reduced by a numerical value. If the momentary value of the line variable is not greater than zero, the next source image data is used in the place of the source image data being treated. Then the value of the line factor is added to the momentary value of the line variable. A column based expansion or compression is also provided for expanding or compressing an image in the direction of the columns. A circuit is provided for performing the expansion or compression, and a printer having the circuit is also provided.

Abstract: In order to strip a film-like coating having toner residues, abrasion and paper dust from an intermediate carrier (for example, a photoconductor), a cleaning unit is provided that is planarly executed and bent such that first and second surfaces and a rounded-off bending region arise. The cleaning unit has its first surface arranged parallel to the intermediate carrier such that the coating runs through under the bending region and then between the first surface and the intermediate carrier, so that the toner contained in the coating loosens the coating from the intermediate carrier.

Abstract: A process and circuit for a printer or copier has control data loaded into a working memory of a control unit. The control data is compared to predetermined values which correspond to a predetermined acceptable control data range. An error signal is generated when the control data is outside the acceptable range.

Abstract: In processing web material, the material is passed through a guiding arrangement which has a plurality of guide elements. In order to enable removing the guide element for repair without disturbing the web material, each of the guide elements is provided with a lifting arrangement which is concentric to the guide element and is movable from one angular position withdrawn from the path of the elongated material engaging the guide element to a second position lifting the elongated material off of the guide element so that the guide element can be axially withdrawn from the machine.

Abstract: A printer or copier has a sheet alignment apparatus including a pair of detents, or walls, at a right angle to one another against which the sheet is moved. To move the sheet, a sheet positioning mechanism is provided which includes two paddlewheels that engage the sheet as they rotate and that are directed offset from one another. The paddlewheels may be angled to shear with one another, and the mounting on which they are supported may be pivotable to redirect the paddlewheels.

Abstract: A printing press has a conveying path for a paper web formed by rollers and has at least one high performance printing unit arranged at the conveying path, a plurality of ink jets or multi-color printing units being arranged along the conveying path at intervals in a row and a paper web intermediate store is located in the conveying path preceding each of the ink jet or multi-color printing units, as viewed in the paper conveying direction.

Abstract: A printer or copier and method for its operation includes two printing units in the paper path. The paper path is formed into two adjoining loops or rings and shunts are provided at intersections to selectively redirect the paper to permit single sided or double sided printing, printing in different colors or re-supplying the paper to a printing unit for a second pass. Papers can be turned over by selective control of the shunts and the conveying directions in the paper paths. Spacing of the sheets if controlled and pre-printed sheets may be selectively brought in to the paper flow.

Abstract: In a web guidance device, particularly for a continuous form printer device, deflection seat is provided around which a recording medium web is guided in a conveying direction. A lateral guide roller influences the recording medium web with a laterally acting force in a region of a deflection seat such that the recording medium web lies against the lateral detent. A planarly acting hold-down element is provided in a region of a lateral guide roller, the hold-down element pressing the recording medium web onto the deflection seat with a specific pressing power.

The toner transfer belt is carried on an arrangement of rollers that maintain a constant tension on the toner transfer belt. Rigid linking levers extend between the rollers of the roller arrangement so that belt tension is maintained by movement of compensation rollers, outward while moving a transfer roller upward, for example.

Abstract: A method for controlling a printer includes the steps of generating a plurality of set up data sets such as a first set up data set corresponding to a first printer language and a second set up data set corresponding to a second printer language. Each set up data set comprises language independent control data and language-dependent control data. The method further includes the step of loading the language-independent data and the language-dependent data of the first set up data set corresponding to the first printer language into the main memory of an electronic printer controller. During ongoing printer operation, the method further includes the step of monitoring the print data stream being communicated to the electronic printer controller and determining when a change in printer language from the first printer language to a second printer language occurs in the data stream.

For example, the changes in the recording medium that occur due to the fixing of toner images on the recording medium and that lead to a degradation of the print image are considered in following printer devices.

Abstract: In order to analyze errors in a high-performance printing system, it is common to transfer the system environment to a service printing system and to conduct an analysis there. The aim of the invention is to simplify and accelerate this diagnosis. To this end, only the data, especially with regard to resources, which had been required by the printing system during a print job that caused an error condition is gathered, transferred and analyzed.

Abstract: A printer includes a printer carrier having a surface for receiving ink for transfer printing onto a carrier material, such as paper. Areas of the surface print carrier are ink attracting and others are made ink repelling. The ink repelling areas are formed by providing the surface with a layer of a substance in a solid phase, such as water in the form of ice. The ice layer repels the ink as it is applied so that the ink is only held on the surface of the print carrier at the areas that are ice free. The ice layer is formed by cooling the surface using a cooling mechanism to form a coating of frost due to condensation. A surface tension reducer for water is coated on the surface prior to cooling the surface. A laser or other radiation emitter structures the ice layer to form the print image.

Abstract: A method for operating an electrographic printer or copier includes determining an adapted exposure energy before the start of the printing process. To this end, a portion of the image elements on a charged photoconductor region is exposed to a predetermined exposure energy. The other portion of the image elements on the photoconductor region is not exposed. A raster parameter which takes the ratio between exposed and unexposed image elements into account is used during the determination of the adapted exposure energy. A printer or copier apparatus for carrying out the method is also provided.

Abstract: An electrographic printing device has at least one printing unit with a toner image carrier. A printing device for producing a toner image prints at least one mark on a photoconductor belt. The toner contained on the photoconductor belt is transferred to a transfer belt at a first transfer point and transferred from said transfer belt to a strip-shaped support material at a second transfer point. A sensor situated on the transfer belt detects the passage of the mark and a control unit determines the time that has elapsed between the time of printing and the time at which the mark is detected and controls the transportation of the strip-shaped support material accordingly.

Abstract: A printing system for printing on recording media first by a first printer and then by a second printer provides that print data is supplied in a page by page manner to the first and second printers from a print data source. Page information is sent to the printers using the print data and corresponding page information is sent to a buffer storage by the first printer. The page information in the buffer storage and the page information sent to the second printer are verified in a page by page manner by determining adherence to a predetermined rule. A synchronization mark is generated on the recording media by the first printer and is read by the second printer, which is used to control the printing process.

The developer station (1) includes a magnetic drum (5) that comprises a preceding metering device for the acceptance of a developer mix (6) and for forming a uniformly distributed developer mix (6), whereby the metering gap (2) is formed between the magnetic drum (5) and the metering device and the metering device is formed by a metering profile (3). The metering profile (3) is adjustably held such at both axial ends by a respective eccentric (4) that a setting of the width of the metering gap (2) ensues by turning the respective eccentric (4). The eccentrics (4) are adjustable independently of one another.

An externally located cover sheet (50-54) is removed from a pile of sheets and conveyed towards a section (a10-a12) of the transport path at a transport speed (V0, V1). The lower limit (v0) of the transport speed is the same as or greater than the transport speed (v0) of the sheets (50-54) in section (a1-a12). Conveyance of the sheet (52,54) is delayed until section (a10-a12) has been reached. Identical predetermined spacing (AS) thus occurs between immediately successive transported sheets (52,54).
