  • Patent number: 7177884
Abstract: A method and a computer system is provided for producing a document processing order on the basis of variable, page-individual data and resource data that are applicable to a multitude of pages. Control data are contained in the document processing order and indicate which resource data are required for the document processing order. The resource data are files that are stored in at least one directory of a computer and are administered by a computer program. The computer program is used to determine the order for searching a required resource file by directory and/or by file. The directories and/or resource files are associated with freely selectable surrogate names in addition to the system names assigned in the computer. The method allows switching between a first display mode in which the resources are displayed on a display device with their surrogate names and a second display mode in which the resources are displayed on the display device with their system names.

  • Patent number: 7130547
Abstract: In a system and method for remote maintenance, remote configuration and/or remote operation of an electrophotographic printing or copying system, a data processing system is connected with a communication unit of the printing or copying system via a network. Given a deactivated printing or copying system, the communication unit receives first data transmitted by the data processing system via the network and processes the transmitted first data. After receiving the first data, the communication unit activates a data processing unit of the printing or copying system. After the activation of the data processing unit, second data can be transmitted between the data processing system and the data processing unit.

  • Publication number: 20060239699
Abstract: In a method for control of an electrophotographic printer or copier, information that refer to a single sheet are determined from print data supplied to the printer or copier. Dependent on said information, a transport path of the single sheet through the printer or copier to generate at least one print image on at least one side of the sheet is determined. A system time of the printer or copier is provided that is the same for at least first and second control units of the printer or copier. At least one desired point in time at or until which at least one sensor signal is expected or at least one actuator is activated is established dependent on the transport path, the desired point in time referring to the system time of the printer or copier.

  • Publication number: 20060227358
Abstract: In a method or system for loading of program data for a graphical user interface for operation or for diagnosis of a printer or copier, first data are stored in a first storage region of a first data processing unit. The first data are transferred from the first data processing unit to a second data processing unit of an operating unit, the first data containing at least specifications about at least one program module necessary for generation of operation or diagnosis functions. With help of the second data processing unit, it is checked whether second data that contain the program module are contained in the second storage region of the second data processing unit. A version state of the program module stored as second data in the second storage region is compared with a version state of the necessary program module.

  • Patent number: 7100503
Abstract: In a method and system to generate a print image on a carrier material, the surface of a print substrate is covered with at least one of an ink-repelling and an ink-attracting layer. In a structuring process, ink-attracting regions and ink-repelling regions are generated corresponding to a structure of the print image to be printed. An ink-attracting carrier substance is applied which can be an ink or other carrier substance on the print substrate surface that adheres to the ink-attracting regions and is not accepted by the ink-repelling regions. The carrier substance is fixed and subsequently the fixed carrier substance is inked with ink at least once. The applied ink is transferred to the carrier material. Before a new structuring process, the print substrate surface is cleaned and newly covered.

  • Patent number: 7099608
Abstract: In a device and method for developing a charge image on a photoconductor of an electrophotographic printer or copier, a developer chamber is provided having a first and a second end in which at least a portion of the developer is contained. A mixer is provided for thoroughly mixing the developer in the developer chamber. The mixer generates a flow of the developer that is directed from a first end of the developer chamber to a second end. An inlet for developer is provided at the first end of the developer chamber and an overflow is provided at the second end. The developer exits the developer chamber via the overflow when its level in the region of the second end exceeds a prescribed height. A conveyor conveys the developer that has exited the developer chamber at the overflow toward the inlet.

  • Patent number: 7085510
Abstract: To suppress spread of fire from a fixing chamber of a fixing station in an electrophotographic print or copy device, in the event of a fire, in order to partition a fixing chamber for a recording medium in a fireproof manner, arranged at the openings of the fixing chamber is a safety apparatus made of an elastic sealing element and a counter-element, between which the recording medium is guided through. The sealing element is comprised of a fiberglass tube, inside which an elastic filling material or an elastic spreading element is situated. When the sealing element is pressed on the counter-element, a clamp region for the recording medium is formed, via which the opening of the fixing chamber can be sealed and a burning segment of the recording medium can be extinguished. Additionally, ashes present on the recording medium can be removed.

  • Patent number: 7043186
Abstract: A fixing station and a method for fixing toner images on a carrier material. The fixing station has an arrangement for moving a carrier material in a first direction and in a second direction opposite the first direction, a heat radiation source, which heats the carrier material to fix a toner thereon, and a covering device which is arranged between the carrier material and the heat radiation source and is movable parallel to the direction of the carrier material between an opened and closed position, so that while in the closed position, it blocks radiation from reaching the carrier device and in an opened position allows the radiation to heat the carrier material. The method includes delaying the opening and closing of the covering device so that a previously fixed area of the carrier material is not subjected to additional radiation from the heat radiation source.

  • Patent number: 7039350
Abstract: The invention relates to a transfer printing station for an electrographic printer or copier wherein the transfer is carried out by means of a transfer roller (5) that simultaneously forces a web of paper (8) against a photoconductor drum (1) in such a manner that no defective spots (data loss) or bright spots in scanning patterns, indefinite scanning patterns and horizontal stripes in scanning patterns occur on the paper web (8). This is especially important for the subsequent printers of a system of printers that have to print onto a paper that is stressed by the fixing station of the preceding printer. The transfer roller (5) is disposed in a swiveled support unit (4) that comprises, in addition to the guide of the paper web (8), transfer jaws (11) along the photoconductor drum (1). The inventive transfer printing station is especially suitable for use in printing systems with a plurality of printers or copiers.
