Abstract: In a method and system for processing print data, the print data is displayed on a display device before printing, and the print data is displayed together with a check device or reticule that is displaceable at the display device. Both the print data as well as the check device are processed as transparent layers in a browser, where the check device is a dynamic element. The method and the system make it possible to check the registration precision or, in-register quality both by pages as well as within a page for print data of a print job that is divided into a plurality of pages.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for synchronizing program sections of a computer program. The program sections can run in parallel on different processors of a computer. Data transfer between the program sections is synchronized by providing a buffer. Unauthorized access to the buffer is prevented by means of a flag that is set automatically by buffer utilities. The data transfer between individual program sections is thus synchronized by the buffer synchronization class only, which consists of the buffer, internal variables and the buffer utilities, is configured in a very simple manner and can thus be tested in operation an in a relatively simple manner by means of a computer comprising several processors. The data transfer is very efficient as the individual utilities are designed in a simple and short manner and thus require little processing time and as the data can be directly written in or read out of the buffer.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method by means of which personalized printed items can be produced and printed out. The invention permits a user inexperienced in carrying out research to compile information in accordance with personal search criteria. The information found is automatically adjusted to the dimensions of the printed item set by the user so that said user is able to compile a personalized book containing numerous ample passages without first having to familiarize himself with a search algorithm or data bank structures. The invention is designed especially for use in the non-fiction domain since large volumes of scientific data are already stored in electronically readable data banks. Other applications of the invention include the compilation of sample passages from fiction books or the production of a customized travel guide.
Abstract: A method and device controls a printer or copier to generate a plurality of marks that are assembled into a coherent marking band that is then inked by the toner. A sensor measures the marking band. The printer or copier are controlled based on the output of the sensor.

Abstract: In order to replace out-of date flowing medium (16) in a system, comprising a component which ages, a defined amount of out-of-date flowing medium (16) is removed and the same amount of fresh flowing medium or fresh components (14) added and a given level (17?) of the flowing medium maintained.
Abstract: In an electrophotographic printer or copier, toner images of images to be printed onto a printing substrate are generated and fixed, causing sliding characteristics to be worsened. In order to remedy this problem, a moistening device is provided that applies on the printing substrate a moistening agent made from a moistening fluid and a lubricant dissolved therein. Two problems are thus solved: the printing substrate is moistened and simultaneously lubricated.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing a second toner image fixing on a toner image on a carrier material includes a second fixing unit in the carrier material transport path. The second fixing unit is in a burn-in unit that is spaced by a cooling distance from the printer or copier and its toner fixing unit. The first fixing unit of the printer or copier fixes the toner image in a first fixing condition and the second fixing unit fixes the toner image in a second fixing condition. For printers or copiers that perform two sided printing and have front and back side fixing units, the burn-in unit also has front and back side fixing units for fixing the toner image in the second fixing condition. A controller may be provided to reduce the heat energy applied to the first fixing unit in the printer or copier to partially fix the toner image so that the second fixing unit further fixes the toner image.
Abstract: In an arrangement and method for determining a position of a unit in an electrophotographic printer or copier, a sensor arrangement is provided having two sensors and an actuating element. Each sensor outputs a sensor signal dependent on a position of the actuating element, the position of the actuating element with respect to the sensors changing dependent on a position of the unit. In a first position of the unit, the actuating element is positioned such that the first sensor and the second sensor each output a first sensor signal. In a second position of the unit the actuating element is positioned such that the first sensor outputs a second sensor signal and the second sensor outputs the first sensor signal. In a third position of the unit the actuating element is positioned such that the first sensor and the second sensor each output the second sensor signal.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for producing charge images of images to be printed in an electro-photographic printer or copier device. The method and arrangement provides for printing of different gray scale levels on the print medium by controlling LEDs that are directed toward a photo-conducting intermediate image carrier to emit a different number of successive light pulses. The number of pulses depends on the gray scale level of the raster image portion. The light pulses overlap on the intermediate image carrier to effect correspondingly different charge levels. The intermediate carrier is developed by the application of toner and the toner is transferred to the print medium.
Abstract: In order to be able to print a prescribed target color with a printing system, the color data of the target color and of the mixed color compounded with parts of the primary colors are compared, and the addition of the parts is varied until adequate similarity has been achieved between the color data of the target color and of the mixed color. In a further step, the mixed color is printed out, the color data of the printed mixed color are identified, and these are compared to those of the target color. Given inadequate similarity, additional parts of the primary colors are added to the mixed color until the respectively printed mixed color has its color data adequately coinciding with the color data of the target color. The mixed color corresponding to the target color is produced from the identified parts and additional parts of the primary colors.
Abstract: In order to adapt the colors of a second printing system to those of a first printing system, the primary colors of the two printing systems that deviate from one another are first identified. Subsequently, the deviating primary colors of the second printing system are adapted to those of the first printing system in that parts of other primary colors are mixed to the deviating primary color to form a mixed primary color until an adequate similarity to the corresponding primary color of the first printing system has been achieved.
Abstract: A transfer printing station is provided comprising a transfer roller for transfer of a toner image generated on an intermediate carrier onto at least one recording medium in a transfer printing region of the transfer printing station. A drive unit causes the transfer roller to move towards the intermediate carrier as an ON position or away from the intermediate carrier as an OFF position, the drive unit being designed such that it is positioned-controlled when moving towards the ON position, and is torque controlled in the ON position.

Abstract: A method and system for outputting data from a computer to an output device, such as a computer, defines a master document in which variable and static data areas are defined. A variable data area is marked and variable data is inserted thereinto to provide a data stream with variable and static data. The marking is used to remove the variable data from the static data. The separated variable and static data is transmitted to the output device such as the printer. The static data is stored at the printer and is not sent to the printer for subsequent documents. The variable data is joined with the static data document by document in the printer.
Abstract: In a method for configuration of a device-specific program system, adjusting values that require different loading operations are input during an input phase. The first adjusting value is then transmitted to the device-specific program system. The device-specific program system carries out a loading operation required for the processing of the first adjusting value. The second adjusting value is transmitted to the device-specific program system and a corresponding load operation is carried out. With the method, a user is allowed to input the second adjusting value already before the first loading operation is completed.
Abstract: In a method and device to generate a print image on a carrier material, a surface of a print carrier is coated with a layer which is one of ink-repelling and ink-attracting. In the structuring process, ink-attracting regions and ink-repelling regions are generated. Ink that adheres to the ink-attracting regions and that is not absorbed by the ink-repelling regions is applied on the surface. The applied ink is transferred onto the carrier material. Before a new structure process on the same surface of the print carrier, the surface is cleaned and recoated with said layer. Before the application of said layer, a wetting-aiding substance is applied with a molecular layer thickness. A surfactant with hydrophilic molecule sections is used as the wetting-aiding substance.

Abstract: A method of printing a highlight color image uses half-tone printing reference patterns for generating printing values for a print original image for a standard color and for generating printing values for a print original image for a highlight color. The information pertaining to the color values of the original image that are assigned to a standard color region or to a highlight color region is integrated into the half-tone printing reference patterns, whereby the printing of a highlight image is limited to a selection of the corresponding half-tone printing reference pattern and the acceptance of the printing value indicated in the half-tone printing reference pattern. Only one corresponding selection for determining the printing values for the standard color and for the highlight color is carried out for each image point.
