Abstract: A printer has a printing drum with recesses on the surface thereof into which ink is provided for printing. After printing, any remaining ink is removed at a cleaning station including immersion in a fluid, air jets, or an air suction. The cleaning station and the inking station operate simultaneously.
Abstract: A method and printing system are provided for generation of a printed image, as is a data processing system for the conversion of printing data and a computer program for carrying out the method. On generation of a printed image, at least two adjacent raster blocks of image elements are illuminated with a light source. The surfaces of the raster blocks are charged dependent on the amount of incident light. On illuminating each raster surface, a portion of the light is also incident on the adjacent raster blocks. The photoconducting layer is charged in proportion to the total amount of incident light. The region colored with toner on the subsequent development of the photoconducting layer may be varied almost infinitely by varying the amount of incident light on the first and/or second raster surface, whereupon the line width of printed images is almost infinitely adjustable.
Abstract: A method of conveying toner material from a refill container is provided, wherein a refill container having an opening for the discharge of toner material is arranged in a receptacle device in a first substantially upright position. In this first position, the opening is closed by a closing device. The refill container is swiveled into the second position with bottom opening with the aid of the receptacle device. Toner material is taken from the refill container via a discharge opening provided in the closing device. Further, the invention relates to a device for conveying toner material and to an associated toner refill container.

Abstract: In a method and a system to configure an electrophotographic printing or copying system, a first data set and at least a second data set are stored in a databank. The first data set comprises at least a value of a first default value and the second data set comprises at least the value of a second default value. A first program element reads out the value of the first default value and the value of the second default value from the databank with the aid of databank interrogation commands. Data with the value of the first default value and with the value of the second default value are transmitted to a first data processing system of an operating unit of the printing or copying system, whereby the data are supplied to a second program element executed by the first data processing system. With aid of a second program element, the data are transmitted via a data connection from the first data processing system to a second data processing system of the printing or copying system.

Abstract: An electronic control device with a parallel databus and a plurality of assemblies connected to the databus. The assemblies each include a processor and a memory device and are connected to the databus with a bus controller. The data are transmitted between a transmitter assembly and a receiver assembly with messages. The data bus essentially corresponds to the MULTIBUS II. The bus controller of the transmitter assembly is fashioned such that, without making use of the processor of the transmitter assembly, it reads data stored in the memory device of the transmitter assembly in response to a request message of the receiver assembly and sends them to the receiver assembly.

Abstract: In electrographic printing devices which print a printing material, for example paper webs, there exists a problem in the case of a malfunction that the printing material has to be removed from the printing unit as this occurs it should be avoided that drive rollers for the printing material are dirtied by non-fixed toner images. To avoid this, a cutting device is provided that presents a reel cutter that is guided in a guide groove of a guide tube. When a malfunction occurs, the cutting device is activated, the reel cutter cuts the printing material, and the cut sections of the printing material are pulled out of the printing unit separately.

Abstract: For cleaning a printing medium, the printing medium for each print cycle is structured on its surface such that it carries new image information that is inked with ink material. Inked material is transfer printed on a medium. The surface of the printing medium is cleaned before application of a new image information by charging with a cleaning fluid.
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for threading a continuous web into a device arrangement having a first module and a second module connectable to and detachable from one another. First and second traction units are provided in the first and second modules. A gripper device grips a beginning section of the continuous web and is detachable to the traction units. The continuous web is pulled with the assistance of the gripper device from an input section to an output section of the respective module given movement of the traction units. A connector device connects the two traction units of the two modules to each other.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for converting digital source raster data of a first resolution into digital target raster data of a second resolution. The data is scaled and smoothed in an individual pixel by pixel manner, whereby the raster source data is smoothed. A combined scaling-smoothing rule can be formed from a plurality of scaling rules or smoothing rules.
Abstract: A method for operating a printer or copier in which at least one optical or mechanical attribute of the printed image support to be printed is detected using a sensor (steps 102, 104, 110). At least one printing parameter is given according to the sensor output signals (steps 106, 108, 112). The printed image support is then printed while using the printing parameters detected in such a manner.
Abstract: The present invention describes a process for preparing a toner mixture comprising mixing a first toner with at least one further toner wherein the first toner has an acid value of from 0.1 to 30 mgKOH/g and comprises at least one binder resin and at least one coloring agent wherein said binder comprises as the main component a polyester resin and wherein the further toners comprise at least a binder resin and optionally at least one coloring agent. It also describes a developer composition comprising said toner mixture and optionally a carrier. The new toner mixture does not show any de-mixing phenomenon during repeated use.

Abstract: In a printer system composed of a plurality of printer devices, the speed of the recording medium to be printed and of the intermediate carrier in every printer device following a printer device is adapted to the changing dimensions of the recording medium. For example, the changes in the recording medium that occur due to the fixing of toner images on the recording medium and that lead to a degradation of the print image are considered in following printer devices.
Abstract: To be able to insert bands of an arbitrary length into a machine unit, for example intermediate carrier bands given an electrophotographic printer device, the band is seated on tubes. The tubes are pushed into receptacles arranged in the machine unit. The band can then be slipped over the transport and guide drums arranged in the machine unit. Subsequently, the band is tensed and the tubes are pulled from the receptacles.
Abstract: The corotron wire of a corotron device is introduced with a retainer element, such as in a printer or copier. At least one corotron wire is held by the retainer element and the carrier material for a latent image residing there opposite is conducted past the corotron wire. The carrier material and the corotron wire lie in planes arranged substantially parallel to one another. The retainer element lies on bearings at at least two bearing points, the bearings being rigidly connected to the guide element and pressed onto the bearings with a spring power. A method is also provided for introducing the corotron wire of a corotron device with assistance of the retainer element.
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for acquiring the nature of a toner particle layer in a printer or copier. An apparatus and a method are also provided for acquiring the moisture content of a carrier material in a printer or copier. A toner particle layer is transported forward between two capacitor plates arranged next to one another and a cooperating electrode. In a first switch status, the first and the second capacitor plate are charged with voltages opposite one another. In a second switch status, the first and the second capacitor plate are electrically connected to one another, whereby the remaining charge is identified and conclusions about the nature of the toner layer are drawn therefrom.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for guiding a belt-shaped continuous carrier material in an electrographic printer or copier provides that a continuous belt-shaped carrier material is guided over at least one roller element, the roller element having a trail with respect to the conveying direction of the carrier material. Further, a device for guiding a continuous belt-shaped carrier material in an electrographic printer or copier is provided, in which a roller element can be displaced and/or tilted transversely to the carrier material.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a lateral position of a band-shaped intermediate image carrier in an electrographic apparatus by regularly detecting a mark on the intermediate image carrier with a sensor. The band-shaped intermediate image carrier is moved in a transport direction from an image generating position at which an image is generated on the image carrier to a transfer position at which the image is transferred. A transverse position of the intermediate image carrier relative to the transport direction is detected and is time correlated with the regular detection of the mark. Intermediate position detections are carried out between the regular detections of the mark in a time-controlled manner. The detected positions are compared to stored position values or calculated theoretical position values and the results of the comparison is used to control position correction devices which change the transverse position of the intermediate image carrier.
