  • Patent number: 4956721
Abstract: A facsimile transmitting system is provided, wherein information recorded on a document or docments is read and transmitted. Prior to transmission, the amount of information recorded on the document is detected. A charge is calcualted prior to transmission based on the detected amount of recorded information. Money or the like corresponding to the calculated charge is received. Thereafter, information read from the documents is transmitted. The money can be received via a charge receiving unit which responds to a card storing recorded monetary value. The receiving unit reads the value from the card, substracts a value corresponding to the calculated charge from the read value, and records the result of this subtraction onto the card.

  • Patent number: 4953100
Abstract: A component-mounted printed circuit board inspecting apparatus comprises an imaging device for picking up images of printed circuit board. Land images are extracted from the image of a bare printed circuit board and that of a component-mounted printed circuit board. On the basis of the shapes of the land extracted from the bare printed circuit board and those of the component-mounted printed circuit board, the positional relationship between a comonent mounted on the printed circuit board and the land thereon is determined. This positional relationship is utilized to decide if the component is mounted properly on the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4953111
Abstract: A doze detector detects when the user begins to go to sleep, by detecting the blinks of the user's eye, regardless of the position of the iris, using at least two reflection type sensors. A blink is determined to have occurred only when both light detecting elements detect a blink. The number and/or duration of the blinks is then used to determine whether the user is beginning to doze. An alarm can then be produced to prevent the user from going to sleep.

  • Patent number: 4949393
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a motor rotation speed controlling apparatus including a comparator, a detecting circuit for detecting a feedback signal of a motor, a motor driving transistor, and a circuit for changing the level of a constant voltage fed to the comparator. The comparator compares a saw-tooth voltage with a constant voltage and outputs a signal which has a duty cycle corresponding to the result of the comparison. The motor driving transistor drives the motor in response to the output signal from the comparator. To change the duty cycle of the output signal from the comparator, a circuit is used that changes the level of the constant voltage in response to a feedback signal detected by the detecting circuit.

  • Patent number: 4942874
Abstract: An improved steam inhaler for producing steam from water and aspirating inhalation liquid having a certain medical efficacy with the steam, comprising: a water supply tank, a first conduit, a first heating chamber, a second conduit, a second heating chamber, and a steam nozzle, along the path the water conveyed. The first and second heating chambers are provided with heating elements, and a one-way valve is provided in the first conduit. Therefore, the water boiled in the first chamber is conducted into the second heating chamber and prevented from returning to the water tank by the one-way valve. The water is completely vaporized in the second heating chamber. Since the water is thus metered from the water tank into the first heating chamber substantially upon demand, the steam inhaler can be activated immediately after the power is turned on, and can be deactivated immediately after the power is turned off.

  • Patent number: 4943715
Abstract: A limit switch having a fixed casing, an actuating part moveably support by the casing, and a pair of contact sets which are adapted to be activated by the movement of the actuating part, one for producing a normal switch output and the other for producing a stroke signal which serves as data for evaluating the appropriateness of the stroke of the actuating part. The other contact set may produce a signal when the actuating part has moved a certain distance more than the minimum stroke for activating the first contact set. Thus, the output from the second contact set ensures a certain stroke margin of the actuating part. Further, the second contact set may produce another stroke signal when the actuating part has been displaced close to the maximum permissible stroke of the actuating part so that an excessive stroke of the actuating part may be detected. The contact set may be purely mechanical or may also be a combination of a mechanical switch and a photoelectric switch.

  • Patent number: 4941181
Abstract: A recognition system including a data carrier which is attached to a moving article and which has a memory storing identification data of the article and a control system communicating with the data carrier without any contact therebetween. The control system includes a higher-level controller, a plurality of lower-level controllers connected thereto, and read/write heads connected to the lower-level controllers. The higher-level controller sequentially sends an auto read/write command to the lower-level controllers. In response thereto, when the data carrier approaches one of the lower-level controllers, the lower-level controller communicates with the data carrier so as to access the memory thereof. The lower-level controller temporarily keeps a result of the memory access (the response from the data carrier) such that on receiving a command from the higher-level controller, the lower-level controller transmits the memory access result thus temporarily kept therein to the higher-level controller.

  • Patent number: 4939706
Abstract: A transaction processing apparatus is provided which includes an alarm output unit which generates an alarm output when a comparator determines that the elapsed time during which a drawer of the processing apparatus has remained open is greater than or equal to a predetermined reference value. In addition, the apparatus includes a storage means for recording an indication of the time during which the drawer remains open for each one of a plurality of operators of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a counter for counting the elapsed time from a time when it is determined that the drawer is open and a second time when it is determined that the drawer has been closed. This elapsed time is compared by a comparator with a stored reference value to control triggering of the alarm output unit.

  • Patent number: 4927264
Abstract: In order to measure the oxygen saturation in venous blood, a venous blood stream is made time-variant by applying pressure with a peak value of the minimum blood pressure to a proximal portion from a measuring part. Light beams with different wavelengths are transmitted from the measuring part and detected by photodiodes. Photodetected signals are logarithm-converted and venous signal components are separated from logarithm-converted signals with a filter circuit. The oxygen saturation of venous blood is calculated on the basis of separated venous signal components.

  • Patent number: 4920340
Abstract: A vehicle detecting system detects the existence of a vehicle on a roadway and communicates therewith in the following manner. A pair of transmitting and receiving coils are arranged on both sides of a detection area set over the roadway of the vehicle. The first high frequency signal of the first frequency is applied to the transmitting coil to form the high frequency magnetic field between those coils. The existence of the vehicle is detected on the basis of the point such that the characteristic such as level or phase of the signal induced in the receiving coil changes due to the vehicle which entered the magnetic field. The first high frequency signal which is applied to the transmitting coil is modulated by the data to be transmitted to the vehicle. Or, the second high frequency signal which has the second frequency different form the first frequency of the first signal and is transmitted from the vehicle is received by the receiving coil and demodulated.
