Abstract: A smart ball-machine uses artificial intelligence to train a player or to play with a player. For example, the ball-machine can adjust the tennis ball speed, topspin, bounce according to the player's successful ball return rate. The ball-machine can be preconfigured with a profile of a player. For example, the ball-machine may download a complete profile of a tennis player from a game recording, or may download a file with a customized profile of a player to train a player using the ball-machine. The ball-machine is equipped with a plurality of wheels, motors, and shafts to provide a fully customizable launch of one or more balls. For example, the ball can be launched from the machine from one side of a tennis court to another side of a tennis court with a variety of speeds, trajectories, topspin, bounce etc.
Abstract: A thermal insulation article for placement in a shipping container to hold an item includes a thermally insulating pad shaped to be positioned in a cavity of a rectangular prism shipping container to be adjacent to and cover one or more of a floor, four side walls and cover of the container while leaving an interior space to receive the item. The thermally insulating pad includes a compostable panel that holds together as a single unit and is formed primarily of starch, and compostable or recyclable film forming a pocket and surrounding the panel to prevent water from reaching the panel within the pocket. The film is secured to the panel along a portion but not all of the opposite surfaces of the compostable panel.
Abstract: A container management infrastructure is provided for deployment of management features using a containerized service on a management device and applications thereof are provided. In operation, the infrastructure receives, from a remote computing device, an instruction to select a group of management functionalities. In response, the infrastructure retrieves a corresponding group of the services corresponding to the selected group of management functionalities from a first cloud network, creates a container image using the retrieved group of the services, and deploy the container image to a second cloud network. The second cloud network receives and stores the container image. Upon receiving a request from a remote computing device for the container image, the second cloud network sends the container image to the remote computing device, such that the container image may be executed on the remote computing device to provide a virtual management device thereon.
Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods link time-stamped OCT scan data of a patient's retina in a database to a biometric identifier for the patient. An appropriately trained artificial intelligence (AI) computer system determines whether the patient has an eye disease based on the differences between time-stamped OCT scan data for the patient from different time scans.
Abstract: A novel polymer mixture having fast drying time, and good tensile strength and elongation at break properties, a multilayer article comprising a base layer made from the polymer mixture and a top layer, and a method of preparing the multilayer article.
Abstract: An adjustable carriage assembly is configured to be mounted on a frame member of a weight rack and includes a moveable carriage with a plurality of rollers that engage the frame member, as well as a connection structure for connection of an articulating implement. A releasable pin is mounted on the carriage proximate to a rear of the carriage and has an arm configured for engagement to move the releasable pin. The releasable pin is moveable by axial translation between a locked position and an unlocked position to selectively engage the frame member to lock the carriage in position or permit movement of the carriage. A removable pin may be removably received through a pin hole in the carriage to extend through the passage in a direction perpendicular to a direction of axial translation of the releasable pin, to engage the frame member to prevent movement of the carriage.

Abstract: A transaction card having a discontinuous metal stratum with a desired degree of electrical eddy current disruption disposed on a surface of a first layer, such as a glass or other transparent layer. A transaction module disposed in the first layer is electrically isolated from the discontinuous metal stratum. The discontinuous metal stratum may include a plurality of isolated metal features that form a halftone pattern, such as a pattern that is visibly opaque to the naked eye.
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing Internet of Things (“IoT”) functionality, and, in particular embodiments, implementing added services for OBD2 connection for IoT-capable vehicles. In various embodiments, a portable device (when connected to an OBD2 DLC port of a vehicle) might monitor wireless communications between a vehicle computing system(s) and an external device(s), might monitor vehicle sensor data from vehicular sensors tracking operational conditions of the vehicle, and might monitor operator input sensor data from operator input sensors tracking input by a vehicle operator. The portable device (or a server) might analyze either the monitored wireless communications or a combination of the monitored vehicle sensor data and the monitored operator input sensor data, to determine whether vehicle operation has been compromised.
Abstract: Embodiments of network processing resource management in computing devices are disclosed therein. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a request from a network interface controller to perform network processing operations at a first core of a main processor for packets assigned by the network interface controller to a queue of a virtual port of the network interface controller. The method also includes determining whether the first core has a utilization level higher than a threshold when performing the network processing operations to effect processing and transmission of the packets. If the first core has a utilization level higher than the threshold, the method includes issuing a command to the network interface to modify affinitization of the queue from the first core to a second core having a utilization level lower than the threshold.

Abstract: An example system comprising at least one memory, programmable circuitry, and instructions to cause the programmable circuitry to obtain first time information corresponding to one or more first times that a panelist accessed first media via a television, obtain second time information corresponding to one or more second times that a household accessed second media via an over-the-top device, the second time information matching the first time information and associated with corrected demographic information of members of the household, determine that a first genre of the first media matches a second genre of the second media, determine that a member of the household accessed the second media via the over-the-top device based on historical media access events of the panelist, and attribute the access of the second media to the member of the household to create a corrected demographic impression record.
Abstract: A disinfection apparatus and method is provided for disinfecting a fluid. The apparatus elements define three internal container volumes. Fluid is introduced into an entry volume where its flow is conditioned to reduce splash and slow the fluid flow. The fluid is then channeled into a disinfection volume where a disinfection unit delivers a disinfection agent to the fluid. Finally, the fluid exits the apparatus through an exit volume. In one aspect, a sink-trap is disclosed in which wastewater liquid contacts a pair of diverters. The diverters have conditioned contact surfaces that slows and spreads the liquid flow and reduces liquid splash. The wastewater then passes through a UV chamber in which it is disinfected. The liquid then exits the sink-trap. Advanced self-cleaning apparatus are additionally disclosed to clean and disinfect the sink-trap and trapped wastewater. The entire apparatus operates under computer control.
Abstract: A positron emission tomography (PET) scanner may include a plurality of gamma radiation detector modules arranged to form a detector ring. Each detector module may include an array of elongated scintillation crystals. With respect to the detector ring, each elongated scintillation crystal includes a proximal end-face, two axially oriented lateral faces, two transaxially oriented lateral faces, and a distal end-face radially oriented into the detector ring to receive a gamma photon. An array of photosensors is positioned along a first of the axially oriented lateral faces of each elongated scintillation crystal to detect scintillation photons. A reflective material is positioned on the proximal end-face, the distal end-face, the transaxially oriented lateral faces, and a second of the axially oriented lateral faces of each elongated scintillation crystal to internally reflect scintillation photons.
