Abstract: This invention relates to non-halogen salts of nitrogen and/or nitrogen-sulfur heterocyclics as corrosion inhibitors for stainless steel-containing systems. These are more effective as corrosion inhibitors when employed in combination with surfactants, preferably of the non-ionic type such as oxyalkylates.
Abstract: 2,5-dihydrothiazoles are prepared by reacting aza-alkylene-dienes with sulfur at relatively low temperatures for example below about 160.degree. C. Where the reaction is carried out at relatively higher temperature, for example above about 160.degree. C., such as 160.degree. to 250.degree. C., 4,5-dihydrothiazoles are formed. In addition 2,5-dihydrothiazoles can be converted to 4,5-dihydrothiazoles by heating them to temperatures above about 160.degree. C.

Abstract: There is provided a biocide composition for oil field fluid polymers and oil field water polymers. The composition comprises a biocide adsorbed on the surface of a solid, particulate adsorbent. The composition lessens personal and environmental contamination by spilled or splashed liquid biocides.

Abstract: This invention relates to alkylated derivatives of polymerized aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds as illustrated by polymerized pyridine, quinoline and derivatives thereof; and uses thereof. These compositions are polymerized by treating said aromatic nitrogen heterocyclic compounds at elevated temperatures and pressures with catalytic amounts of alkyl halides and then alkylating the polymerized products formed. The compositions used in this invention are useful in providing improved means for controlling microbiological organisms including bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa and the like, present in water and hydrocarbon systems.
Abstract: This invention relates to particulate compositions containing chemical additives for petroleum systems. The particulate compositions when added to petroleum systems gradually dissolve over a period of time, releasing the chemical additive, so as to improve the petroleum system. The use of such particulate compositions has an advantage over the use of the chemical additive itself since the pellets give longer residence time and sustained treatment over a longer period.
