Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for determining the charge of a battery are disclosed. Embodiments include determining the charge in batteries that exhibit mass diffusion during charging or discharging, such as by evaluating the response of the battery to vibration. Alternate embodiments include evaluating the amplitude response of the battery and the phase shift response of the battery. Still other embodiment include evaluating the H11 response of the battery to vibration. Further embodiment include vibrating the battery, for example, with a chirp frequency that may be in the acoustic range. Still further embodiments include performing a Fourier analysis of the battery response to vibration.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of obtaining a stereoscopic signal from a sequence of monoscopic images. The method includes a step of obtaining a sequence of monoscopic images having been captured by an image acquisition apparatus in an acquisition mode enabling several images to be shot in the course of a regular movement substantially tangential to the plane of the lens of the acquisition apparatus. That step is followed by a step of forming pairs of images from the sequence of images, each pair being formed on the basis of a predetermined temporal distance then a step of calibrating the images of the pairs formed, so as to improve the visual correspondence between the two images. Finally, a stereoscopic signal is constructed from the pairs so calibrated.

Abstract: These teachings provide for receiving from a user (via, for example, a voice-recognition component) a name-based identifier for an entity to be contacted via wireless communications and then using that name-based identifier to access a contacts list to identify a corresponding communications address to use when contacting the entity via the wireless communications. Upon determining that the contacts list includes at least two contacts having the same name-based identifier, these teachings then provide for providing to the user location information as pertains to at least one of the candidate contacts to thereby facilitate disambiguation.

Abstract: A system and method generate a graph lattice from exemplary images. At least one processor receives exemplary data graphs of the exemplary images and generates graph lattice nodes of size one from primitives. Until a termination condition is met, the at least one processor repeatedly: 1) generates candidate graph lattice nodes from accepted graph lattice nodes; 2) selects one or more candidate graph lattice nodes preferentially discriminating exemplary data graphs which are less discriminable than other exemplary data graphs using the accepted graph lattice nodes; and 3) promotes the selected graph lattice nodes to accepted status. The graph lattice is formed from the accepted graph lattice nodes and relations between the accepted graph lattice nodes.
