Abstract: A small-molecule Stat3 dimerization inhibitor, S3I-M2001, is described and the dynamics of intracellular processing of activated Stat3 within the context of the biochemical and biological effects of the Stat3 chemical probe inhibitor are elucidated. S3I-M2001 is a newly-identified oxazole-based peptidomimetic of the Stat3 Src Homology (SH) 2 domain-binding phosphotyrosine peptide that selectively disrupts active Stat3:Stat3 dimers. Stat3-dependent malignant transformation, survival, and migration and invasion of mouse and human cancer cells harboring persistently-activated Stat3 were inhibited by S3I-M2001. S3I-M2001 inhibited Stat3-dependent transcriptional regulation of tumor survival genes, such as Bcl-xL. The disclosed compound is useful as a new potential treatment for certain cancers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a protocol data unit (PDU) reordering method in a wireless communication system. The terminal maintains the number of bytes of PDUs stored in the buffer for reordering PDUs received in a sequence that is changed due to HARQ error correction to thereby prevent overflow of the reordering buffer. When the HARQ function unit transmits a PDU received at the radio access control RAS (S101), the PDU reordering unit of the access terminal sets a current frame number as an arrival frame number of the received PDU (S102). When a current frame number is stored as an arrival frame number of a received frame, the PDU reordering unit compares a sequence number (SN) of a received PDU with a sequence number of a PDU that is about to be reordered (S 103). If the PDU has already been reordered, the received PDU is discarded (S 104).

Abstract: A method is provided for removing contamination from a substrate. The method includes applying a cleaning solution having a dispersed phase, a continuous phase and particles dispersed within the continuous phase to a surface of the substrate. The method includes forcing one of the particles dispersed within the continuous phase proximate to one of the surface contaminants. The forcing is sufficient to overcome any repulsive forces between the particles and the surface contaminants so that the one of the particles and the one of the surface contaminants are engaged. The method also includes removing the engaged particle and surface contaminant from the surface of the substrate. A process to manufacture the cleaning material is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to modification of the chemical structure of ricinoleic acid, which is present to an extent of 85-90% in castor oil into triacyloxy alkyl ester derivatives. Accordingly, 9,10,12-trihydroxy octadecanoic acid rich fatty acid mixture was prepared from castor oil and converted to their alkyl esters followed by acylation of hydroxy groups to get 9,10,12-triacyloxy octadecanoic acid alkyl ester rich fatty acid alkyl esters mixture. The 9,10,12-triacyloxy octadecanoic acid alkyl esters were purified from the crude product and characterized by 1H NMR studies. The crude products were also evaluated for acid value (A.V.), hydroxyl value (H. V.), iodine value (I. V.), viscosity, viscosity index (V.I.), pour point, flash point and copper strip corrosion and found to be potential base stocks for hydraulic, metal working fluids and other industrial fluids.
