  • Patent number: 5796635
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for rapid measurement of thickness or mass of a fiber sliver in a draw-frame or card (so-called "regulation"). The object of the invention is to accelerate the process of measuring according to the state of the art while maintaining measuring precision and even improving it. For this, a process for rapid measuring of the thickness or mass of a fiber sliver in a machine processing fiber slivers, such as a draw-frame or card, in which the primary measuring signal (u.sub.1, u.sub.1 ') of the measurement indicator is taken via a signal-influencer which modifies the primary signal by segment or point before transmission in the form of measuring signal (u.sub.2, u.sub.2 '); the modification is predetermined by a characteristic line stored previously by segment or point which is based on a relationship (K1) measured by point between defined predetermined thicknesses at the measurement indicator and the primary measurement signal (u.sub.1 u.sub.1 ') measured at that moment.

  • Patent number: 5771542
Abstract: A process for direct ascertainment of setting values for point of autolevelling and/or amplification application (R, K) of a draw frame or carder with adjustable drafting of fiber sliver in which the autolevelling of the adjustable draw frame or carder is provided at least with one pilot control (10) in order to change the drafting of the fiber sliver (20) is proposed. The process accelerates optimation but not so that it may produce an inherent restlessness in the autolevelling of the draw frame. This is achieved if a function (a, b) is found through several measured values (CV1, CV2, CV3) of a quality-characterizing magnitude such as CV-value, the minimum of which (am, bm) results in an optimizing parameter such as the point of autolevelling or amplification application (R0, K0) for the autolevelling (10) of the draw frame or carder.

  • Patent number: 5761773
Abstract: A fleece funnel is provided for use in textile drafting equipment to receive a fiber fleece conveyed by a pair of delivery rollers. The fleece funnel includes a long side disposed adjacent to the delivery rollers. A funnel area is defined in the long side for receiving the fiber fleece. The funnel area defines a planar guiding surface in a planar substantially concave impact surface. A funnel opening is defined in the impact surface and a funnel channel is in communication with the funnel opening. A ramp surface is defined on the long side outside of the funnel area. The ramp surface meets the impact surface and defines a common contour line with the impact surface so that air forced out of the fiber fleece balloon formed as the fiber fleece is conveyed into the funnel opening is drawn away from the funnel area towards the ramp surface unimpeded by planar components of the fleece funnel.

  • Patent number: 5755135
Abstract: A process and device for scanning a moving fiber sliver in a textile machine to measure the thickness of the sliver has a movably mounted scanning element which is pressed against the fiber sliver and has a contact pressure against the sliver. The degree of movement of the movable scanning element indicates changes in the thickness of the moving fiber sliver. An adjusting element is connected to the movably mounted scanning element and maintains a constant contact pressure of the scanning element against the sliver over the entire measuring range of the movable scanning element.

  • Patent number: 5755087
Abstract: An open-end spinning device has a spinning rotor defining a fiber collection groove between a rotor bottom and an open-end of the spinning rotor. The rotor further includes a wall extending from the fiber collection groove to the open end of generally less than 6.0 mm. • Patent number: 5749213
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and device for the connection of a negative pressure channel provided with openings installed on a textile machine with a plurality of work stations. A service unit traveling alongside the textile machine is provided with a negative pressure line. The negative pressure channel has openings which are closed off by swiveling flaps. When the service unit is brought to a stop at one of the work stations, the flap associated with the work station is swivelled by means of an apparatus installed in the service unit and the negative pressure line is connected to the opening of the negative pressure channel. Before the service unit leaves the work station, the connection between the negative pressure channel and the negative pressure line is broken and the flap is necessarily swivelled by the apparatus so as to be in front of the opening in order to close the opening.

  • Patent number: 5713528
Abstract: A winding process for winding yarn into a cross-wound bobbin in the textile machine includes depositing the yarn on a bobbin in a transversing stroke by a transversing movement of a yarn guide. The process includes intermittently decreasing the traversing stroke from a maximum value to a minimum value and then increasing the value of the traversing stroke from the minimum value back to a relatively constant maximum value and holding the stroke at the maximum value for a predetermined period of time. The traversing frequency of the yarn guide is decreased to a relatively constant minimum value substantially simultaneously with the increasing of the traversing stroke from the minimum value back to the relatively constant maximum value. The traversing frequency is maintained at the constant minimum value for a predetermined period of time. The traversing frequency of the yarn guide is then increased from the constant minimum value after the predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 5661947
Abstract: The invention relates to the filling of a flat can with fiber sliver by a textile machine which delivers a fiber sliver, such as a carding machine or a draw frame, whereby the flat can is moved under a stationary, rotating rotary plate. The invention significantly reduces the costs for the required movements of the flat can as compared to the state of the art. The process according to the invention for the traversing of a flat can during the filling process at a textile machine delivering a fiber sliver is realized in that the flat can is shifted laterally by tilting of the flat can around an axis in the return path of the traversing path. In the device according to the invention, the traversing mechanism is equipped with a tilting device. For this purpose, the tilting device is provided with a tilter and an axis around which the flat can is tilted.
