  • Patent number: 4896263
Abstract: All but one of the microcomputers in a multi-computer system are equipped with a rapid-access read-write memory and a fixed content nonvolatile read-only memory. Each of these read-only memories, however, stores a multiplicity of varieties of one or more sets of data, so that, in the case of a computer system for a motor vehicle engine, the same system can be used in any of a large number of vehicle models. One of the microcomputers of the system has a programmable memory which is programmed at the time of installation to designate the portions of the fixed memories that are to be utilized. When the system is turned on, the programmed memory designation number is stored in the read-write memory of all of the computers of the system, with the result that the designated portion of each fixed read-only memory is always referred to in any computer of the system. It is not important that, when the system is turned off, the memory content of the read-write memories is lost.

  • Patent number: 4895020
Abstract: In known air flow rate meters, the initial tension of a spiral spring, which generates the restoring force on the baffle valve, is adjusted by the snapping of a locking spring into gaps between the teeth of a tooth ring provided on the spring housing. However, the tooth spacing cannot be made arbitrarily small. Accordingly, a way to enable finer adjustment of the initial tension is needed, so that a measurement can be made even at low idling speeds and with a small aspirated air quantity. In the air flow rate member according to the invention, the locking spring engages a detent element, which facing the toothed ring has an inside serration, the spacing of the teeth of which is less than the spacing of the toothed ring; when the spring housing rotates, detent increments that correspond to the spacing of the inside serration are attainable. Quite generally, the embodiment according to the invention enables sensitive adjustment and locking of a spiral spring serving as a restoring force.

  • Patent number: 4896021
Abstract: A portable electric hair dryer wherein the housing contains an electric motor for an impeller which induces the flow of air from an inlet of the housing, along an electric heater in the housing and to and through an outlet of the housing. The casing of the motor is surrounded by a ring-shaped diffuser with stationary guide vanes which uniformize the flow of air toward the heater. The controls of the motor are mounted on a circuit board which carries one or more triacs, diodes and/or other electronic components which are heated when connected with a source of electrical energy and must be cooled when the hair dryer is in use. The heatable electronic component or components are mounted on an extension of the circuit board, and such extension is installed directly in the diffuser between two neighboring guide vanes. To this end, one of the guide vanes is removed or omitted and the electronic component or components take the place of the missing guide vane.

  • Patent number: 4895344
Abstract: In control motors having an armature rotatable counter to a spiral spring, a problem arises that the set force of the spiral spring can be changed by the process of installation. The disclosed control motor is intended to enable setting of the force of the spiral spring after installation. To enable setting of the force of the spiral spring after installation, relative to which an armature of a control motor is rotatable, a shaft on which the armature is supported is screwed with a screw end into a threaded bore of a housing bottom end. Connected to the shaft is an adjusting element, which with a driver arm engages an end portion provided on the outer end of the spiral spring. By rotating the ends of the shaft, which are accessible from outside, the force of the spiral spring can be changed. The invention is preferably applicable to idling adjusters, but it is not limited to this field of application.

  • Patent number: 4894574
Abstract: In a threephase generator, it is suggested, for the purpose of supporting the stator plates, to provide the latter with a decoupling ring which is held securely at the stator plates on the one hand and, on the other hand, by means of clamping in a fit of the housing parts of the threephase generator on both sides. The decoupling ring can consist of two decoupling ring portions which embrace the stator plates and, at a distance from the latter, form a common clamping place for the end shields of the housing; or a radial ring can be formed, which is securely connected along the circumference alternately with the surface of the stator plates on the one hand, and, on the other hand, with certain clamping places in the housing by means of coupling segments. The half-shells of the decoupling ring and the radial ring can be formed directly by the laminations of the stator plates by means of a corresponding shaping.

  • Patent number: 4893699
Abstract: A shock absorber useful in motor vehicles which includes a piston inside of which an entire quantity of a damping fluid exchanged between two work chambers flows via a throttle cross section the size of which is defined by an electromagnetic adjusting device comprising primarily a magnet coil and an armature. The armature is annular and merges with an annular control slide provided with a slide control edge, which slide, in cooperation with a piston control edge on the piston determines the size of the throttle cross section. The control slide and armature are statically in pressure equilibrium, and because of their annular embodiment they have only a slight weight of their own, so that the shock absorber operates with short adjusting times. By way of a defined profile of the slide control edge or piston control edge, certain damping characteristics are attainable.

  • Patent number: 4893602
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for fuel metering during acceleration operations at a plurality of cylinders of an internal-combustion engine, with sequential injection, in which the fuel quantity to be injected is determined corresponding to the operating state and the acceleration state is determined, additional fuel injections being performed after determination of the acceleration state. Such a process is to be further developed to the extent that a faster metering of the increased fuel quantity into the internal-combustion engine can be performed during the acceleration operation. To achieve this object, it is proposed that the determined fuel quantity is injected into at least one, preferably into all those cylinders whose injected fuel quantity has not yet been taken in and whose inlet valve has not yet been closed or whose intake stroke has not yet been concluded.

  • Patent number: 4893218
Abstract: A reflector, made from a thermosetting plastic, has three tightening faces on its crown neck that act as a catch, into which three protrusions, such as pawls, dig in a thread-like manner with teeth of the ring. As a result, the ring secures an incandescent bulb in the reflector. By means of this unilaterally acting friction catch, lateral slides, in particular, become unnecessary on an injection holder of the reflector, which is a considerable advantage in the processing of thermosetting plastics.
