  • Patent number: 4748358
Abstract: An electric machine, particularly for starting devices, is suggested. Permanent magnets (4 to 9) with assigned flux conducting pieces (10 to 15) are arranged in the housing (1) of the electric machine. The permanent magnets (4 to 9), together with the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15), are preassembled in two rings (18, 19) as retaining parts to form a constructional unit. Each ring (18, 19) has a cylindrical portion (20; 30) which contacts the end portions of the inner side (21; 22) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) or the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15). A flangelike edge (25; 33) of the rings (18; 19) contacts the front sides (23, 24; 31, 32) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) and the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15). Tabs (26, 27; 34, 35), which contact the end portions of the free longitudinal sides (17; 28 ) of the permanent magnets (4 to 9) or the flux conducting pieces (10 to 15), are bent out from the edges 25 and 33.

  • Patent number: 4748598
Abstract: To provide for permanent calibration of an audiometer, for example, to hold the calibration even in case of an interruption of supply voltage, an electrically erasable programmable and reprogrammable read-only memory (EEPROM) (15) receives calibration data in a closed loop by comparing the output of a transducer (13) with the input to a measuring microphone (31), in digital form and after digitizing, with command outputs stored in a computer (22). A tone generator (11), likewise controlled by the computer, provides control frequencies via a controlled amplifier (12) to the transducer (13). The calibrating EEPROM (15) receives correction data from the computer via a data bus (29) which, in turn, controls the resistance of a switchable resistance (18, 181) to provide a correction voltage to the amplifier (12).

  • Patent number: 4747300
Abstract: A sensing pump for discriminating between liquids and gases. The pump includes a plunger which is reciprocably moved by a succession of repetitive actuation of known force and time characteristics. The response of the plunger, acting against the fluid is indicative of the quality of the fluid (liquid, gas, or vapor). An orifice is provided in the system which in effect eliminates liquid viscosity as a determinant, and makes the system responsive instead to a mass-transfer regime. This increases the discriminatory capability of the system.

  • Patent number: 4747384
Abstract: A fuel injection system for internal combustion systems is proposed, which serves to inject fuel into the intake tube of the engine. The fuel injection system includes at least one fuel injection valve which is disposed in the interior of a holder and communicates with both a fuel supply line and a fuel drainage line. The inflow of fuel into the fuel injection valve takes place radially via an inflow region. An orifice body is secured in the holder, forming a reservoir preceding the inflow region. In the first few seconds after hot starting of the engine, only the fuel stored in the reservoir reaches the inflow region and hence is injected. Because readily volatile fuel components have evaporated beforehand, the fuel stored in the reservoir enables especially good fuel preparation.

  • Patent number: 4747545
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines is proposed, which includes a valve needle stressed by a closing spring and a damping device to partially damp the opening movement of the valve needle. The damping is effected in accordance with the stroke frequency, the stroke length of the valve needle, or both, or the quantity of fuel throughput per injection cycle, and the damping effect is preferably variable automatically by shifting the time of the onset of damping relative to the onset of injection. As a result, an adaptation of the damping effect to the operating state of the engine at a particular time can be attained which substantially meets the ideal parameters for such damping.

  • Patent number: 4747051
Abstract: A device for adjusting traveling speed of a motor vehicle includes traveling speed and acceleration PI-regulators cooperating via an operational condition control and a switching device with an electronic fuel metering system of a motor vehicle. The acceleration regulator and the traveling speed regulator are alternately activated in dependency on the selection of desired driving conditions, namely whether a traveling speed is to be reached or maintained. A high driving comfort is obtained by modifying initial and transition states of integral parts of output signals of respective regulators.

  • Patent number: 4745729
Abstract: A screw head on a container-closing machine has jaws that are pivotable on a holder to grasp a closure cap and hold the cap tightly so that the cap can be screwed onto a container. For pivoting the jaws, the jaws are connected to levers, which rest on an actuating cone that is displaceable coaxially in the holder. The actuating cone is integrally connected to a piston of a cylinder-piston unit, which is likewise disposed coaxially in the holder and the piston is operable by a controlled fuel supply.

  • Patent number: 4745903
Abstract: A pressure regulating valve is proposed which serves to regulate a constant pressure of a medium. The pressure regulating valve includes a valve housing and a regulating piston, which is supported in a slide bore such that it is displaceable by the pressure of the medium counter to the force of a regulating spring. • Patent number: 4746834
Abstract: An ignition plug suitable for igniting meager fuel vapor/air mixtures has a tubular metal housing, an insulating body which is divided into longitudinal portions and contains a connection pin and a middle electrode positioned in its through borehole. A longitudinal portion of the insulating body, which longitudinal portion is enclosed by the metal housing, consists of dielectric material and, together with the metal housing and the connection pin, forms a capacitor which has a capacity of 120 to 500 pF, chiefly 200 to 400 pF. In order to connect electrial flashovers between the connection pin and the metal housing in the areas of the separating surfaces of the insulating body annular electrical insulating elements are arranged between the separating surfaces which are made of the material elastic at all temperatures of the ignition plug.

  • Patent number: 4745898
Abstract: In a pre-injection apparatus for Diesel engines, a pre-injection slide that generates a pronounced pressure intensification for the pre-injection in a pressure chamber closed off with respect to the high-pressure side and open toward the injection line is slidably supported in a stepped guide bore and is exposed to the injection pressure of a high-pressure pump. After the execution of a partial stroke (h.sub.v), which is responsible for the pre-injection quantity, the pre-injection pressure chamber is opened with a backwards-oriented action toward the high-pressure side and thereby is intially relieved of pressure. The ensuing movement of the pre-injection slide until the complete end of its stroke forms a predeterminable capacity that enables an injection pause. The pre-injection pressure chamber communicates with an electrically triggerable magnetic valve with the low-pressure side or the high-pressure side, so that the shutoff of the pre-injection is possible under certain operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 4742810
Abstract: The ultrasonic atomizer system serves to atomize fuel to be injected into internal combustion engines, thereby forming droplets of identical diameters (d.sub.T). The ultrasonic atomizer system includes an atomizer housing having a pressure chamber into which fuel is delivered under pressure by a pump. An ultrasonic vibrator protudes into the atomizer housing. • Patent number: 4743000
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling the spring stiffness in two bodies or masses that are movable relative to one another and in their absolute positions with variable speeds, in particular in resilient wheel suspension systems for vehicles and the like, wherein the volume positively displaced by a piston in a cylinder pressure chamber can be abruptly switched over into two partial volumes in accordance with load, movement and operating parameters of the vehicle, suspension and wheel as well as vehicle body, with it being possible, with partial volumes communicating with one another, to perform an additional total-volume fine adjustment continuously via a cylinder/piston unit and also in accordance with the parameters mentioned. A suspension concept of this kind, with slow, continuous adaptive adaptation and rapid switchover to greater stiffnesses is augmented by an asymmetrically variable damping and a preferably fast-operating level control means.
