  • Patent number: 4741314
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed wherein control over the injected fuel quantity is exercised by regulating the outlet (C) of a second relief line (33) of the working space (5) of the fuel injection pump by means of a control edge (25) positionable as a function of load and/or speed in the part-load range, and optionally of the first outlet cross-sectional area (D), displaced along the stroke, of a first relief line (15). In full-load operation, the effective length of the delivery stroke is limited by opening a relief opening (E) carried by the pumping plunger at a control edge (9). To obtain delivery at reduced fuel injection rate, especially at no load or low load, over as long a stroke length (h.sub.L) as possible, fuel-quantity control is effected, first, with respect to the duration of injection, by means of the control edge (25) which controls the outlet (C), and secondly, by opening, at a constant point along the stroke, the relief opening (E).

  • Patent number: 4741316
Abstract: A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines is proposed which serves to inject a quantity of fuel adapted to the aspirated air quantity. In the intake tube of the engine, an intake tube section downstream of a throttle valve communicates with an intake tube pressure sensor via a connecting line. The output signal of this intake tube pressure sensor affects the opening duration of the injection valves. In order to reduce the influence of pulsations on the measurement product of the intake tube pressure sensor, a throttle valve is provided which in the presence of the operational engine states of upper partial load and full load reduces the cross section of the connecting line.

  • Patent number: 4742461
Abstract: Reference values are stored for various conditions of gear shift operations of a vehicle motor of a particular type and model for various motor speed and load combinations, the reference values having a magnitude characterizing the gear shifting operation, for example the time interval required from the appearance of a gear shift command until the end of slip in a coupling indicates that the gear shift is complete. As the vehicle is driven, actual values of this magnitude are stored and averaged for a predetermined number of shift operations under the same class of condition. Correction values for the pressure of hydraulic fluid of the gear shift control, originally set at zero for all conditions, are determined by comparison of reference values with average actual values and stored.

  • Patent number: 4741315
Abstract: A pressure regulating apparatus which serves to regulate fuel pressure in a fuel injection system for internal combustion engines. The pressure regulating apparatus includes a pressure regulating valve, which has a valve diaphragm fastened in a valve housing and defining a fuel chamber, which communicates via an inlet conduit with a fuel distributor line. Protruding into the fuel chamber is a valve seat carrier body having a valve seat body, on which a valve seat is embodied, from which an outlet conduit leads to an outlet fitting. The pressure regulating valve is inserted into a holder bushing communicating with the fuel distributor line and is sealed off therefrom by a sealing ring disposed on the regulating valve. The axial fixation of the pressure regulating valve in the holder bushing is effected via a screw connection with a retaining body.

  • Patent number: 4740915
Abstract: Control of a microcomputer performing a wide variety of functions in a motor vehicle in which the sequences of input and output signals intersect in time, instead of being performed by an elaborate input/output unit, is performed in the microcomputer itself with the help of a timing signal generator operating at a sub-multiple of the microcomputer clock frequency and producing a sequence of timing signals, each of which serve as an interrupt signal to the microprocessor of the microcomputer to initiate an interrupt program for scanning inputs and preparing outputs. After this short interrupt program, the main program is resumed. In the interrupt program each of a number of registers, respectively serving separate inputs or outputs, are decremented or incremented, having been set at particular values at the beginning of each interrupt program. Some registers are set at two different values in alternation in succeeding interrupt intervals.

  • Patent number: 4739408
Abstract: The signal electrode of a television camera tube by first scanning in an odd-numbered picture field is focussed in horizontal scanning pattern and then superimposing thereon in an even-numbered picture field the scanning pattern offset out of interlace and rotated slightly while at the same time the focussing current for the focussing coil of the electron beam is slightly altered for the even-numbered picture field. Charge patterns with charge maxima are thereby produced in the unscanned zones. The actual alignment is determined by the focus pivot point F that lies in a strip of maximum charge values running obliquely across the scanning pattern. Increasing the focussing current produces, simultaneously, rotation to the left and enlargement of the scanning pattern, resulting in a maximum charge value strip running from upper left to lower right (patterns a, c and e).

  • Patent number: 4739309
Abstract: To permit connecting a display characterizing a malfunction, for example malfunction in an automotive vehicle, or another monitored apparatus, and a warning lamp to alert an operator that a malfunction is being indicated to a single connecting line (SL), a coded representation characterizing the malfunction in the form of short pulses (I; 1, 2) is transmitted on the same line, with pulses which are so short that the response inertia of the warning lamp does not perceptively change its brightness (or darkness) level, as controlled by the operating voltage of the warning lamp between a high and a low value. The coded pulse representation is decoded in a microprocessor (MP) and displayed on a display (A) forming part of an evaluation device, coupled to the same single communication line (SL) which may be a single wire with chassis or ground return, or a two-wire connection.

  • Patent number: 4738575
Abstract: A semitrailer is described which is capable of conversion between a general freight carrying mode, and an automobile carrying mode. The floor of the semitrailer, which forms a lower tier, is fabricated in a discontinuous shape comprising from the rear end to the front end of the semitrailer an angled section, a drop section, and a horizontal section, the angled section extending downward at an angle whose vertex is located at the rear end of the semitrailer. An upper tier is formed by track supporting members mounted on each sidewall of the trailer which can be pivoted downward from a storage position adjacent to the sidewall, to a horizontal position where the components of the members are connected to form a continuous supporting structure. In the automobile carrying mode the track supporting members are deployed in their horizontal position, thereby permitting automobiles to be placed thereon in an upper storage tier.

  • Patent number: 4736759
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for cleaning, rinsing and drying substrates, such as semiconductor wafers. The apparatus has a cleaning tank in which one or more megasonic transducers are located, the transducers being adapted to direct megasonic energy past the substrates for cleaning the same. The substrates are held in the cleaning tank by an improved holder which can be pivoted from one side to the other to present opposite side margins of the substrates to the megasonic energy field when otherwise such opposite side margins would not be exposed to such energy field due to the blocking action of parts of the holder. A rinse tank for containing a rinse solution is adjacent to the cleaning tank, and a robotic transfer arm mechanism moves the substrates in the holder from the cleaning tank to the rinse tank for immersion of the substrates into the rinse solution which can be heated to an elevated temperature or can be at ambient temperature.

  • Patent number: 4736646
Abstract: A brake pressure control valve including a housing, a control bushing secured therein, a control slide and a travel simulator movable relative to the control bushing and having a spring. The travel simulator has a pressure piece which is rounded on its side toward the control slide. Toward the pressure piece, the control slide is also rounded. Between the control slide and the pressure piece there is a force transmitting member having two plane parallel end faces. A centering means surrounding the force transmitting member and embodied like a rubber-elastic bushing centers the force transmitting member relative to the longitudinal axis of the control slide and orients the end faces transversely to said longitudinal axis. The control slide, the force transmitting member and the pressure piece form roller pairs, which during the actuation of the brake pressure control valve enable relative movements between the pressure piece and the control slide without generating notable radial force components.
