Patent number: 4648369Abstract: A pressure valve is proposed which is installed in the supply line which leads from a fuel injection pump to a fuel injection valve. The pressure valve has a return-feed collar provided with a throttle connection and a relief conduit is provided parallel to the return-feed collar and to the valve closing member sealing face. Via a check valve and a throttle, the relief conduit establishes the communication between the supply line toward the injection pump and the supply line toward the injection valve. By means of the combination of the return-feed collar having a throttle with a check valve acting as a pressure maintenance valve, a desired residual pressure can be established in an adapted manner in the supply line toward the injection valve, and the injection duration in particular can be adapted to the requirements of a fuel injection pump which pumps at a reduced feed rate during idling operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1985Date of Patent: March 10, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Peter Wannenwetsch

Patent number: 4647115Abstract: A wheel anti-blocking control system (ABS), in which, subsequent to a brake pressure drop, the first brake pressure rise pulse .DELTA.P.sub.2 is controlled, in dependence on the preceding brake pressure drop (.DELTA.P.sub.1) and on a quotient defined by the relationship: ##EQU1## in which +.omega..sub.m and -.omega..sub.m are representative of maximum angular acceleration/deceleration of the respective wheel being controlled and .alpha. is a factor somewhat less than unity, and which may vary in dependence on the direction of movement of the vehicle, for example whether the vehicle is moving in a straight path or is moving along a curve. If moving along a curve, so that angular acceleration is involved, the factor .alpha. is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1985Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Heinz Leiber, Wolf-Dieter Jonner, Armin Czinczel

Patent number: 4646697Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus for controlling the operating characteristic quantities of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a characteristic field for pre-controlling engine variables influencing the operating characteristic quantities. The characteristic field is made up of the operating characteristic quantities. The apparatus further includes a control arrangement for controlling to maximum power output of the engine. The control arrangement is superposed on the pre-control and includes means for determining corrective values from the control loop in a predetermined operating range of the engine. The corrective values are applied to influence all of the pre-control values of the characteristic field over all operating ranges. With the apparatus of the invention, it is possible in a simple manner to consider changes in the surrounding factors that influence the engine.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1985Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Ferdinand Grob, Peter-Jurgen Schmidt, Josef Wahl

Patent number: 4646976Abstract: A magnetic valve, in particular a fuel metering valve for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, is proposed which serves to measure the injection quantity and control the instant of injection. In a valve housing, the magnetic valve has an electromagnet and a valve closing element actuated thereby, which cooperates with a fixed valve seat. To damp the opening movement of the valve closing element against a fixed stop and to keep the hydraulic forces of adhesion between the valve closing element and the stop low, a damping chamber that is open toward the valve closing element is disposed on the stop. As the valve closing element approaches, fluid is positively displaced out of the damping chamber in the form of a squish flow between the stop face and the head element of the valve closing element, so that recoiling is avoided due to thus-generated damping.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1986Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Helmut Rembold, Walter Teegen

Patent number: 4646926Abstract: Safety closures resistant to (and evidencing) tampering comprising a snap cap or screw cap, a rotary safety ring, and a tear tab attached to the neck of the container, said closure requiring that the tear tab be removed before the safety ring can be lowered; the safety ring must be aligned with the cap in one angular position and pushed downwardly away from the cap before the cap can be removed from the container. These safety closures may include a tear pin, attached to the cap and to the ring, which must be broken before the cap can be removed from the container; the tear pin may be in addition to, or an alternative for, the tear tab. The tear pin and tear tab are made to be removable. This invention describes a tamper resistant and tamper evident closure comprising a cap having a depending annular flange with a slot therein, and an outwardly directed wing protruding through said slot; the cap cannot be removed without causing the cap to shear off the outwardly directed wing, which is made to be removable.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1986Date of Patent: March 3, 1987Assignee: Robert Linkletter Associates, Inc.Inventors: Albert J. Patent number: 4645272Abstract: A brake booster having one open and one closed brake circuit, in which a tight partition penetrated by a pedal tappet extension is disposed between the two pressure chambers of the brake circuits. During normal braking, the pressure distribution from the open brake circuit to the closed brake circuit is effected via a magnetic valve capable of being switched over for the initiation of ABS regulating functions, so that it is possible to realize a simultaneous control of pressure in both brake circuits for both normal braking and for the realization, by the simplest means, of ABS functions is possible.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Heinz Leiber

Patent number: 4644922Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an apparatus for controlling the overrun mode of operation of an internal combustion engine, wherein instantaneous values of the relevant negative speed change of the internal combustion engine are sensed and evaluated to control the overrun mode. In this arrangement, a higher resume speed which is selected on commencement of the overrun mode and reduced to a lower speed limit after a predetermined time function, can be shifted additionally in dependence on the negative speed change. Further, to keep an internal combustion engine from stalling, the actual value of the negative speed change can be compared with a predetermined desired value; if it exceeds that value, the decision for a resume of fuel delivery can be made without delay.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Otto Glockler, Dieter Gunther, Ulrich Steinbrenner

Patent number: 4646075Abstract: An electronic data processing pipeline system and method for processing encoded control points representing graphical illustrations. The pipeline comprises a number of separate micro-programmed circuit cards, each of which are programmed to perform a specific processing operation.A command is first sent to a matrix maker card defining a geometrical transformation to be performed on the graphical illustration. The matrix maker card, together with a matrix multiplier card, then calculates a transformation matrix representing the desired transformation.Electronic representations of control data points are then transmitted to the pipeline for processing. These control points are 3D points comprising both the vertices which terminate linear edges of the illustration and the control points corresponding to curved edges of the illustration. Each of the points is encoded to indicate whether it represents a vertex or a control point for a curved edge.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1983Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Robert Bosch CorporationInventors: David H.
