Patent number: 4628957Abstract: Disclosed is a pressure valve connectable between a fuel injection pump and the fuel injection valve of an internal combustion engine. The valve includes a cylindrical valve closing member which moves due to the pressure of fuel from the pump and expells a quantity of fuel to the injection valve. A throttling passage is provided as a bypass to the closing member and guarantees a stable pressure in the fuel supply conduit when the closing member is in open position. To neutralize reflected pressure waves in the supply conduit after injection the valve closing body is delayed by the throttling passage during its return movement into closing position. In addition, a check valve is arranged in the closing member which controls the stable pressure to a desired value.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1984Date of Patent: December 16, 1986Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Gerald Hofer, Helmut Laufer

Patent number: 4627137Abstract: A roller for heat- and/or solvent-treatment of fibrous materials has circumferentially extending annuli or spirally arranged rows of coherent or discrete neighboring protrusions each of which has a larger frustopyramidal section nearer to and a smaller frustopyramidal section more distant from the peripheral surface of the cylindrical body of the roller. The taper of facets of the smaller frustopyramidal sections is less pronounced than the taper of the facets of the larger sections, and the distance between the bases of two neighboring larger sections is less than half the height of a protrusion. The top lands of the smaller sections are relatively large and, due to the less pronounced taper of the facets of such smaller sections, the top lands can be reground a large number of times without unduly increasing their areas so that the rate of transfer of heat from the cylindrical body to the top lands and thence to the adjacent fibers is not unduly affected by repeated grinding.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1984Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Assignee: Robert Casaretto KGInventor: Eberhard Wildt

Patent number: 4625590Abstract: The desired acceleration, a value required to determine shift points in an automatic transmission, is computed on the basis of the measured speed, output torque of the transmission, and the tractive resistance at rated load on a level road. Additionally, a shift which is otherwise indicated is suppressed when the computed output torque of the transmission in the new gear is less than the actual tractive resistance. Preferably an incremental value is added to the tractive resistance prior to comparison with the output torque in the new gear, so that hunting is prevented. The incremental resistance value, which is added to the tractive resistance, may be a constant or may vary as a function of speed.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1981Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventor: Alfred Muller

Patent number: RE32301Abstract: An internal combustion engine is provided with an ion current sensor in the exhaust conduit. The sensor may be simply a spark plug across which is applied the vehicle battery voltage. The operation of the engine at various values of mixture composition yields characteristic curves for the ion current and for the fluctuations in the ion current as a function of the air number. These characteristic data are used to provide set point values against which the prevailing ion current is compared. If a set point value is exceeded, the fuel-air mixture is adjusted accordingly by an integral controller.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1983Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Reinhard Latsch, Valerio Bianchi
