  • Patent number: 12140094
Abstract: A method and a device for operating an internal combustion engine including a first air duct for supplying air to a cylinder and a second air duct for supplying air to a heater for heating an exhaust system. The first and second air ducts each have a control element for controlling the amount of air flowing through them and a mass flow sensor for measuring the amount of air flowing through them. The first and second air ducts are connected to a common air filter, for providing filtered ambient air of the internal combustion engine. A regulation of the amount of air flowing through the first and second air ducts takes place using the measurement signals, depending on operating states of the internal combustion engine. A mutual influence of the air flowing through the first or second air duct is taken into account.

  • Patent number: 12139087
Abstract: Methods and systems for estimating vital signs of vehicle occupants using Ultra-Wideband communication. UWB signals are transmitted from one UWB system node to another UWB system node. Channel impulse responses (CIRs) associated with the UWB signals are determined. Based on the CIRs, in some embodiments velocities associated with the UWB signals are determined, and activities of vehicle occupants are classified based on the CIRs along with vital signs such as breathing rates. In other embodiments, based on the CIRs, phase unwrapping of phase features associated with the CIRs is performed, and principle component analysis (PCA) transforms the CIRs, allowing estimated vital signs such as breathing rates to be determined.

  • Patent number: 12137315
Abstract: An earphone including a proximity sensor, an acceleration sensor, and a signal analysis device. The signal analysis device identifies an approaching movement of the earphone to an object using the proximity sensor signal. The signal analysis device ascertains whether the approaching movement is a movement of the earphone to an ear of the user. By filtering the acceleration sensor signal, the signal analysis device generates a high-pass filtered acceleration signal and a low-pass filtered acceleration signal. The signal analysis device determines an end time of the approaching movement based on a stabilization of the acceleration, using the low-pass filtered acceleration signal. The signal analysis device confirms that the approaching movement is a movement of the earphone to an ear of the user based on changes in the high-pass filtered acceleration signal after the ascertained end time of the approaching movement.
