Abstract: Disclosed are compounds which are 4-hydroxy-2-quinolinone-3-carboxylic acid esters, e.g., 1-methyl-4-hydroxy-2-quinolinone-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, useful as anti-allergic agents and intermediates for 1-alkyl-4-alkoxy-quinolin-2(1H)-ones, and prepared by reacting an isatoic anhydride with an alkali metal salt of a malonic ester.
Abstract: A process for dyeing without shrinkage with a disperse dyestuff or an optical brightening agent a fibrous substrate whose fibres comprise a mixture of polyvinyl chloride and acetalized polyvinyl alcohol, in which the substrate is dyed at a temperature from 60.degree. to 90.degree. C. in the presence of a levelling carrier, this levelling carrier being removable when the dried substrate is subsequently submitted to a dry heat treatment for a period up to 120 seconds and at a temperature from 95.degree. to 135.degree. C.

Abstract: A process for dyeing or printing with a fibre-reactive dyestuff a substrate consisting of or comprising cellulosic fibres, which process comprises treating the dyed or printed substrate, at a temperature from 20.degree. to 105.degree. Abstract: Disclosed are stable, concentrated, aqueous dyestuff preparations comprising water, an anionic dispersing agent and at least one cold-dyeing water soluble fibre reactive dye, said dye having an average particle diameter of less that 20 .mu., other optional constituents being one or more disperse dyes, acid, such as acetic acid, to adjust the pH of the preparation to a preferred value of 4 to 6, and organic solvents. The preparations are useful for the convenient production of dyebaths for dyeing substrates containing a fibre reactive dyeable component.

Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of optionally substituted 2,3-indolinediones which are useful as intermediates in the preparation of compounds having pharmacological activity which comprises reacting a 3,1-benzoxazine with an alkali or alkaline earth metal cyanide or a tetra-(C.sub.1-4) alkylammonium cyanide to obtain a 2-imino-3-indolinone, which is then subjected to hydrolysis.
