Abstract: Provided by the invention is a buckle-plate folding station including a first folding roller and two further contra-rotating fold-forming rollers and an adjustable buckle-plate folding unit. The intention of the invention is to provide a buckle-plate folding station enabling the point in time of fold formation to be determined. For this purpose means for detecting sheet infeed are provided in the buckle-plate folding station. The buckle-plate folding station further comprises means for detecting the deflection of at least one of the fold-forming rollers in forming the fold. Means for determining the sheet length fed between sheet infeed and formation of the fold are also provided.
Abstract: A side wall is provided for closing off the casting space of a plant for the continuous casting of metal strip between two counterrotating rolls which define a nip area and have horizontal axes, of the type including an upper edge, a lower edge, and a face that defines part of a casting space. The wall includes a lower part for preventing cracking in the side wall adjacent to the nip area that includes a recess filled with a refractory. Preferably, the refractory enclosed by the recess is a material having a lower hardness than the refractory forming the balance of the wall, and high thermal insulation properties.
Abstract: The invention relates to a light structural steel plate in the form of a hump plate and to a process for its production. The light structural steel plate comprises a mould-pressed steel hump plate (1) and a flat aluminium plate (3) connected thereto substance-to-substance at a the hump end faces. The substance-to-substance connection is produced by the feature that after the surfaces to be interconnected at the hump end faces have been activated by means of a laser beam (5), said surfaces are metallically connected under pressure. The decisive factor is that the material of the plates (1, 2) does not pass into the molten phase during activation by means of the laser beam (5).

Abstract: The invention relates to a double-layered sheet metal with a first layer (5) of sheet metal comprising indented knobs (4.sub.I -4.sub.IV ; 4.sub.V -4.sub.VII ; 4.sub.VIII -4.sub.XIII), with several of these knobs forming the corner points of a geometrical segment (8.sub.I, 8.sub.II, 8.sub.III) of the first layer (5) of sheet metal, with a second layer (6) of sheet metal which is connected to the first layer (5) of sheet metal in the area of the tips (4a) of the knobs (4.sub.I -4.sub.IV ; 4.sub.V -4.sub.VII ; 4.sub.VIII -4.sub.XIII), and with a filling (7) made of filling material arranged in the void remaining between the layers (5, 6) of sheet metal. With such a double-layered sheet metal the danger of "total failure" in the case of a load exceeding elastically endured deformation is reduced in that the geometrical segment (8.sub.I, 8.sub.II, 8.sub.

Abstract: The invention relates to a turning passage for the feed and discharge of cooling water to a disturbing system (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) in a water-cooled guide roller (1) of a continuation casting system. In order to seal the bearing (10) of the guide roller (1) with respect to the fed and discharged cooling water and to protect the rigid coponents of the turning passage which assist in the feed and discharge of cooling water from mechanical loading by the guide roller (1), a seal is mounted in a cover plate (15) supported on the bracket (11) of the bearing (10) so that it is sealed by a bushing (18), can rotate and is axially dispaceable. A flexible, annular, flange-shaped membrane (21) made of plastic or rubber is arranged between this bushing (18) and a flange (20) fastened to the end surface of the bearing journal (9), and its inner and outer edges are vulcanized thereto.
Abstract: The invention relates to a light construction wheel of steel sheet which is produced by the cold working of a flat, one-piece circular steel sheet disc formed by the welding together of a first circular disc (1) and a second annular disc (3). In the light construction wheel the first circular disc (1) for the wheel disc/dish (1*) and the second annular disc (3) for the wheel rim (3*) are made from different uncoated or coated sheets which differ in thickness and/or strength of material in accordance with the local given strength requirements of the light construction wheel.
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective coating for a refractory material member of an ingot mold for continuous casting of metals, especially of steel, which consists of a dispersion of particles in a solvent, said particles including essentially boron nitride and at least one of the following metal oxides: zircon, zirconia, alumina and silica, the boron nitride representing between 20 and 50% by weight of said particles.
Abstract: A connecting lock and a sheet pile wall, wherein the connecting lock has a straight end and a curved end which are arranged on one side of a center piece, and a hook-shaped end which is arranged on the other side of the center piece. The hook-like end may be arranged directly across from the straight end or the curved end.

Abstract: A blowing lance and a coupling head are configured to permit facilitated exchange of the blowing lance as desired. The coupling head includes a receptacle in which an end portion of the blowing lance is receivable. The receptacle includes a tubular attachment which engages a portion of the blowing lance, creating a hermetically sealed connection therebetween for conduction of a blowing fluid, for example, oxygen. The coupling head further includes connections for coolant supply and discharge. The blowing lance includes a cooling jacket having an inlet and outlet, at least one of which emerges at a peripheral surface thereof. When the blowing lance is received in the receptacle of the coupling head, at least one chamber is formed therebetween, providing sealed communication between the coolant supply and/or coolant discharge connections of the coupling head and the inlet and/or the outlet of the cooling jacket of the blowing lance, respectively.

Abstract: An impressed emblem is disclosed which includes a cover sheet which is used together with heat and pressure to impress a desired pattern on an emblem. The emblem can also be impressed with a pattern and simultaneously heat-sealed onto a desired substrate.
Abstract: Process for the joining of strips and/or sheets of metallic materials, wherein the strips/sheets are introduced converging on one another at an angle into a roll nip, the surfaces coming into contact with one another being heated, but not melted by a laser beam immediately prior to physical contact and the strips/sheets being so pressed together in a directly following joining pass that they are rigidly connected to one another at material surfaces brought into contact.

Abstract: A support arrangement for mechanically securing and electrically contacting electronic components has a support member consisting of an electrically conducting material and having a contacting side. The support member has perpendicularly projecting hollow pins at the contacting side. The hollow pins are stamped into the support member. The electronic components have connecting tabs including an opening. The tabs are placed onto the hollow pins. The hollow pins project through the openings and the tabs. The heads of the hollow pins are then mechanically deformed and engage radially outwardly the circumferential edge of the openings of the tabs.
Abstract: A container-transporting system with tracks, linear motors and rotatable wheels. The system includes a network of tracks which are arranged transversely at right angles with respect to one another and parallel to one another and form points of intersection. Guide rails are arranged in the tracks outside the points of intersection and have track-bound transporting carriages moving on them by way of running wheels which can be turned about a pivot spindle. The distances between the running wheels correspond to the distances between the tracks. The running wheels, which are enclosed by horizontal guide rollers, can be rotated in the points of intersection. Magnets are arranged on the transporting carriage in the longitudinal and transverse directions and, by way of stators of the track, move the transporting carriage in the longitudinal and transverse directions. Pivoting slides, which are arranged on the transporting carriage, turn the running rollers.

Abstract: The invention relates to the production of a metal strip having formed-in thinner areas. To this end the strip B is drawn through a drawing nip 1, 2 formed by the end face of a working roll 3 adjusted at an angle and a support roll 4, which can take the form of a working roll. When drawing takes place through the working nip 1, 2, a rolling force and simultaneously a tensile force transversely of the pulling direction are so exerted on the strip B by the two rolls 3, 4 that the displaced material flows practically exclusively transversely of the pulling direction in the areas to be thinned down.
