Patent number: 5899441Abstract: In an electric chain hoist, there is a slipping clutch in the drive line which connects the electric motor to the chain sprocket, the slipping clutch acting as an overload safeguard. A holding brake is also provided to hold the drive line in the braked state when the motor is switched off. The brake exerts its braking action primarily on that part of the drive line which lies between the slipping clutch and the chain sprocket. To prevent the slipping clutch from entering the slipping state when the motor is switched on before the brake has been released to a sufficient extent, the brake is designed in such a way that it acts on both parts of the drive line.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1996Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignees: R. Patent number: 5880400Abstract: In a metal housing of the "Flameproof Enclosure" ignition protection type, one part of the housing is provided at the parting plane with a rib and the other housing part is provided with a groove complementary thereto. The cross-sectional dimensions of the groove are larger than the cross-sectional dimensions of the rib. The gap-like space obtained thereby is filled with a coating which adheres integrally either to the rib or to the walls of the groove. This gives rise, between the coating and the other part to which it does not adhere integrally, to a gap which meets the requirement placed on an "ex-gap" of a flameproof housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1997Date of Patent: March 9, 1999Assignee: R. Patent number: 5853165Abstract: A chain hoist contains a slipping overload clutch in the drive line which connects the electric motor to the chain sprocket. This slipping clutch has two clutch halves which are in frictional engagement with one another and are preloaded into frictional engagement with one another by a spring. A holding brake is furthermore provided and this holding brake acts against the clutch disks so as to increase the frictional grip between the clutch disks in the applied state. This ensures that when the hoist is started and the disengagement of the brake is delayed, the slipping clutch does not enter the slipping state.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1996Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignees: R. Patent number: 5811945Abstract: A travel drive for a trolley traveling gear of hoists has a drive train which has the properties of a freewheel as regards the direction of travel. Consequently load oscillation can be rapidly damped out because the speed of the traveling gear is not forcibly held constant during the semioscillation of the load in which it moves ahead of the traveling gear. On the contrary, the swinging load is able to drag the traveling gear behind it, accelerating it in the process, and in this way to convert oscillation energy into driving energy.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1996Date of Patent: September 22, 1998Assignees: R. Patent number: 5787967Abstract: The solidification of the strip (9) is performed by introducing liquid metal between two horizontal rolls rotating in opposition directions (1, 1') which are cooled by an internal circulation of a coolant fluid. A casting space is defined between the rolls and their outer surfaces (3, 3') have a roughness. The casting space is blanketed by a cooling gas or a mixture of gases through a lid (10) covering the casting space. An adjustment of the crown or profile of the rolls (1, 1') is performed by modulating the quantity of cooling gas blown onto the rolls and/or the nature and composition of the gas at least in the vicinity of the surface of each roll (1, 1') upstream of its region of contact with the liquid metal (2).Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1996Date of Patent: August 4, 1998Assignees: Usinor Sacilor, Thyssen Stahl AktiengesellschaftInventors: Luc Vendeville, Pierre Delassus, Gerard Raisson, Jean-Michel Damasse
