  • Patent number: 11005540
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for processing signals from multiple users at an antenna array, and to provide beamforming for transmitting to those multiple users, and more particularly for channel estimation and wireless signal recovery in wireless networks carrying transmissions in the millimeter wave frequency bands to enable such beamforming. Such methods and systems enable MIMO communications at millimeter wave frequencies for multiple users communicating with a MIMO antenna system, such as a massive MIMO multi-antenna system (multi-antenna arrays that consist of hundreds of antenna elements). Such methods and systems may characterize the communications link (i.e., channel) at that frequency band, and directly provide a precoding matrix for beam steering towards a particular user that is in communication with the antenna system.

  • Patent number: 11003485
Abstract: Standard nested virtualization allows a hypervisor to run other hypervisors as guests, i.e. a level-0 (L0) hypervisor can run multiple level-1 (L1) hypervisors, each of which can run multiple level-2 (L2) virtual machines (VMs), with each L2 VM is restricted to run on only one L1 hypervisor. Span provides a Multi-hypervisor VM in which a single VM can simultaneously run on multiple hypervisors, which permits a VM to benefit from different services provided by multiple hypervisors that co-exist on a single physical machine. Span allows (a) the memory footprint of the VM to be shared across two hypervisors, and (b) the responsibility for CPU and I/O scheduling to be distributed among the two hypervisors. Span VMs can achieve performance comparable to traditional (single-hypervisor) nested VMs for common benchmarks.

Abstract: Mapping and localization using image processing of wireless signals is provided. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a novel approach for high accuracy mapping of an environment around an antenna (or antenna array) coupled to a radio frequency (RF) transceiver through image processing of RF signals. The image processing includes constructing a map of line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) objects in the environment by distinguishing NLOS objects and correctly projecting their positions relative to the LOS objects. In some examples, a three-dimensional (3D) image of the environment around the antenna (or antenna array) is produced. Aspects disclosed herein can further provide simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for a wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20210132182
Abstract: Position information estimation in a distributed radio frequency (RF) communications system is provided. Embodiments disclosed herein facilitate high-precision estimations of positions, orientations, velocities, and acceleration of network nodes in a distributed RF network. The distributed RF communications system incorporates a series of estimation processes which makes it susceptible to propagation of errors. To ensure robustness of the distributed RF communications system, relative positions of network nodes are tracked by iteratively tracking parameters used for estimating position information. Some embodiments take advantage of Kalman filtering algorithms by leveraging principles directed by physics. At every network node, several filtering algorithms can be employed to synchronize clocks, track delay between multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas and estimate position and orientation of other network nodes.

  • Publication number: 20210132177
Abstract: Position information estimation in a distributed radio frequency (RF) communications system is provided. Embodiments disclosed herein facilitate high-precision estimations of positions, orientations, velocities, and acceleration of network nodes in a distributed RF network (e.g., including base stations and vehicles, such as aircraft or unmanned aerial systems (UASs)). Modern radio systems must adapt to limited spectral access by reducing spectrum demand and increasing operational efficiency. In this regard, an RF system is provided which simultaneously performs positioning and communications tasks. This system specifically addresses the issue of spectral congestion by employing an extremely efficient positioning strategy and using a joint waveform that simultaneously enables both tasks. This efficiency in turn supports more users in a given frequency allocation.
