  • Patent number: 12161295
Abstract: Methods and systems for image-based guidance in deep-brain stimulation. An endoscope system includes a waveguide tube, a right-angle prism, a light source, and a photoacoustic transducer. Light from the light source propagates along the length of the waveguide tube via internal reflection within the wall. The right-angle prism is positioned to redirect light emitted at a distal end of the waveguide tube in a direction perpendicular to the length of the waveguide tube. Light emitted in the perpendicular direction causes soundwaves to be generated by the surrounding tissue via photoacoustic effect. Those soundwaves are then conducted through the interior channel of the waveguide tube from the distal end of the waveguide tube to a proximal end of the waveguide tube where the soundwaves are detected by the photoacoustic transducer, which is acoustically coupled to the interior channel of the waveguide tube at the proximal end of the waveguide tube.

  • Publication number: 20240401030
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of functional genomics determination including transducing a cell population with a set of nucleic acid molecules including a pooled library of genomic perturbagens to integrate multiple perturbagen cassettes into the genome. A phenotype of individual cells is determined and single cells of the population with targeted phenotypes are individually sorted into a set of compartments. Each compartment includes a forward primer with a nucleic acid sequence (NAS) that specifically binds a common nucleic acid sequence on the nucleic acid molecules and a compartment (cell)-specific nucleic acid barcode. Also included is a reverse primer with a NAS that specifically binds a common NAS on the nucleic acid molecules comprising a pooled library of genomic perturbagens. The genome-integrated perturbagen cassettes are create amplicons which are pooled and sequences determined.

  • Publication number: 20240403648
Abstract: An Internet-of-Things (IoT) learning framework (IoT learning framework) may train AI models to infer user activities from IoT connected device events using machine learning based algorithms. According to such an example, processing circuitry obtains a training dataset indicating IoT device events and extracts representative user activity patterns from the sequences of IoT device events. In such an example, processing circuitry trains the AI model to learn an optimal subset of the sequences of IoT device events corresponding to a smallest quantity of the sequences of IoT device events to predict user activities with accuracy that satisfies a threshold and outputs the AI model. According to such an example, processing circuitry may obtain new data indicating new sequences of IoT device events and generates output indicating one or more user activities predicted by the AI model to have occurred based on the new sequences of IoT device events.

  • Publication number: 20240398488
Abstract: A system and method for determining position of a steerable assembly within tissue of an animal body utilizes an elongated body structure with an implement arranged at a distal end thereof, and a premagnetized material proximate to the distal end. A signal indicative of a length of insertion of the elongated body structure into the tissue is used with a signal indicative of (i) force, strain, shape of a sensor associated with the elongated body structure and/or (ii) directionality of magnetic field applied to the premagnetized material, to determine a three-dimensional (3D) trajectory of the steerable assembly. The 3D trajectory is superimposed on a 3D model of the tissue to determine position of the steerable assembly within the tissue.

  • Patent number: 12158291
Abstract: The elastocaloric effect underpins a promising solid-state heat pumping technology that, when adopted for commercial and residential applications, can revolutionize the cooling and heating industry due to low environmental impact and substantial energy savings. Known operational demonstration devices based on the elastocaloric effect suffer from low endurance of materials and, in most experimental systems, from large footprints due to bulky actuators required to provide sufficient forces and displacements. We demonstrate a new approach which has the potential to enable a more effective exploitation of the elastocaloric effect by reducing the forces required for actuation. Thin strips of NiTi were incorporated into composite structures with base polymer, such that bending the structures results in either exclusively compression or exclusively tension applied to the elastocaloric strips.
