Abstract: A device may detect the zero-cross event of a BEMF of an electric motor with first, second, and third phase windings driven by respective first, second, and third power driving stages. The device may include a control circuit configured to place at an impedance state the third power driving stage relative to the third phase winding, the third phase winding being coupled to a zero-cross detecting circuit, introduce a masking signal to mask an output signal of the zero-cross detecting circuit in correspondence with each rising edge of a first driving signal of the first power driving stage relative to the first phase winding, and determine whether a first duty-cycle of the first driving signal is such that a duration of a masking window of the masking signal is greater than an on-time period of the first driving signal.

A first region and a second region that form a junction are provided within the body. A recess extends into the body and is delimited by side arranged transverse to a main surface of the body. Abstract: A method for the automatic design of an electronic circuit includes operations for evaluation of the thermal effects in the electronic circuit. The method generates a layout of the electronic circuit. Abstract data at the substrate level associated to the layout of the electronic circuit is then generated. A grid of partitioning is generated with respect to a view regarding the aforesaid abstract into meshes and nodes. The grid is applied to the substrate. On the basis of the grid (TG), a list of nodes or netlist representing a thermal network that represents the thermal behavior of the substrate or of its portions or elements is extracted. The netlist is useful in simulation operations, in particular of a SPICE type, for making an evaluation of thermal effects in the electronic circuit.
Abstract: A switching controller of a poly-phase electric motor may generate, in a fully digital manner, a replica of the phase current and/or of the phase (star) voltage of one or more windings of the motor. The switching controller may use digital signals already available for driving the motor to reconstruct a replica of the phase current or the phase voltage, and thereby avoid the need for dedicated analog components for phase current or phase voltage determination.
Abstract: A transducer converts energy coming from an energy source into an electrical signal for storage as electrical energy on a first storage element. A switch is selectively actuated to pass electrical energy from the first storage element to a second storage element. The selective actuation of the switch is driven by sensing electrical energy stored in the second storage element. The switch is closed when electrical energy in the second storage element is sensed to fall below a first threshold. The switch is opened when electrical energy in the second storage element is sensed to rise above a second threshold.

Abstract: A method of operating a speaker system including a speaker coupled to an amplifier, and a dedicated digital speaker protection circuit includes turning on the amplifier in a mute mode, after a first delay period, issuing a play command to the amplifier to place the amplifier in a play mode, but without an input signal during a second delay period, and performing a speaker offset detection during the second delay period, wherein, if there is an offset, then the amplifier is forced back into the mute mode, and if there is no offset, then the amplifier is allowed to continue to operate in the play mode. The method also includes issuing a speaker protection control signal or command if an offset is detected.

Abstract: Errors induced by noise pulses in digital electronic circuits clocked with a clock signal are detected by providing at least one additional clock signal offset in time with respect to the clock signal by a given interval, and performing for at least one component of the circuit a comparison of correspondence between two versions of one and the same signal. The comparison is clocked by the additional clock signal and the absence of correspondence between the two versions of said signal identifies an error induced in the circuit by a noise pulse.
