  • Patent number: 7451471
Abstract: An optical ring network for use, for example, in a motor vehicle, includes an optical data line that defines a ring network, a playback transducer and at least one data source connected to the optical data line, where the data source provides compressed data onto the optical data line. The network also includes at least one data sink connected to the optical data line, which receives the compressed data from the optical data line. The data sink includes a bit stream decoder that decompresses the received compressed data and provides the decompressed data to the playback transducer. The local network transmits audio and video data in compressed form via the data line, and has a single bit stream decoder, centrally situated at the respective data sink, for decompressing the audio and/or video data. As a result, the individual data sources no longer need their own bit stream decoder for decompressing the data.

  • Patent number: 7450246
Abstract: A measuring apparatus for determining relative positions of a positioning stage arranged in a moveable fashion in at least one direction by a predeterminable maximum traversing path. The measuring device comprises at least one interferometric measuring means and at least one interferometric correction means. An interferometric measuring means is operable with the laser light of a laser of at least one wavelength. • Publication number: 20080267927
Abstract: Improving cell therapy and tissue regeneration in a patient suffering from a cardiovascular or a neurological disease by treating a tissue of the patient with shock waves and/or applying to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of stem cells and/or progenitor cells. Such treatment increases expression of chemoattractants, pro-angiogenic factors, and pro-survival factors. The chemoattractants can be, for example, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or stromal cell derived factor 1 (SDF-1). For example, the treated tissue can be located in the patient's heart or in a skeletal muscle of the patient, and the shock waves can be extracorporeal shock waves (ESW) or intracorporeal shock waves. The cardiovascular disease can have an ischemic or non-ischemic etiology. For example, the cardiovascular disease can be a myocardial infarction, ischemic cardiomyopathy, or a dilatative cardiomyopathy. • Patent number: 7444365
Abstract: Input values are non-linearly digitally filtered to produce as an output value the Rth-largest value among the K input values, wherein the Rth-largest value may be the median value with R=(K+1)/2. The input values are provided in any binary fixed point number representation. A respective selected bit of all the input values is evaluated to determine the Rth-largest bit value of this bit among the K input values, and this gives the value of the corresponding bit of the output value. In the input values of which the selected bit does not correspond to the determined Rth-largest bit value, all of the subsequent less-significant bits are set as dummy bits equal to the selected bit, which excludes these input values from being the Rth-largest value in the subsequent evaluation of the successive less-significant bits. Then these steps are repeated for the next selected less-significant bit, and so forth, thereby respectively determining the successive bits of the output value.
