Abstract: Material is removed from a substrate surface (e.g., from a bottom portion of a recessed feature on a partially fabricated semiconductor substrate) by subjecting the surface to a plurality of profiling cycles, wherein each profiling cycle includes a net etching operation and a net depositing operation. An etching operation removes a greater amount of material than is being deposited by a depositing operation, thereby resulting in a net material etch-back per profiling cycle. About 2-10 profiling cycles are performed. The profiling cycles are used for removing metal-containing materials, such as diffusion barrier materials, copper line materials, and metal seed materials by PVD deposition and resputter. Profiling with a plurality of cycles removes metal-containing materials without causing microtrenching in an exposed dielectric. Further, overhang is reduced at the openings of the recessed features and sidewall material coverage is improved. Integrated circuit devices having higher reliability are fabricated.

Abstract: Methods of probing a material under investigation using an ultrasound beam. Echolocation data is generated using a multi-dimensional transform capable of using phase and magnitude information to distinguish echoes resulting from ultrasound beam components produced using different ultrasound transducers. Since the multi-dimensional transform does not depend on using receive or transmit beam lines, a multi-dimensional area can be imaged using a single ultrasound transmission. In some embodiments, this ability increases image frame rate and reduces the amount of ultrasound energy required to generate an image.

Abstract: A data protection scheduling system provides a flexible or rolling data protection window that analyzes various criteria to determine an optimal or near optimal time for performing data protection or secondary copy operations. While prior systems may have scheduled backups at an exact time (e.g., 2:00 a.m.), the system described herein dynamically determines when to perform the backups and other data protection storage operations, such as based on network load, CPU load, expected duration of the storage operation, rate of change of user activities, frequency of use of affected computer systems, trends, and so on.
Abstract: Systems and methods for consolidating metrics and statistics used for load balancing by a plurality of cores of a multi-core intermediary are disclosed. A timer operating on each packet engine of each core in a multi-core system may expire. A consolidator may store, responsive to expiration of the timer, a set of counter values from each of the packet engines to a first storage location. The consolidator may send to each packet engine a message to update the set of counter values. The consolidator may, upon completion of updating the set of counter values by the packet engines, send a second message to the packet engines that includes a consolidated set of counter values determined based on the updated set of values from each packet engine. Each packet engine may establish settings and parameters for load balancing based on the consolidated set of counter values.
Abstract: The present disclosure teaches a system and method for register-transfer level (RTL) design checking for exploring mismatches and ambiguous language semantics that occur during the simulation and synthesis phases of the circuit design. In particular, the present disclosure utilizes identified patterns of design violations that occur as a result of these mismatches to create rule objects. The rule objects are then used to identify circuit design violations relating to mismatches between designer intent and ambiguous language. The rule objects are also categorized into different categories so as aid in the analysis of design rule violations and to identify the major impacts to the design qualities and to provide a confidence level of the overall design quality.

Abstract: In a method for correcting errors occurring in attention (AT) commands of a mobile device, the mobile device includes a first user identity module (UIM) chipset, a second UIM chipset, a buffer and a timer. The method sets a response time for a communication between the first UIM chipset and the second chipset according to an AT command, backups the AT command into the buffer, and counts a communication time using the timer. When the communication time exceeds the response time, the method restarts the first UIM chipset using a watchdog timer and restarts the second UIM chipset by resetting voltage levels of I/O pins of the second UIM chipset. The method further clears the communication data stored in the buffer, reads the AT command from the buffer and resends the AT command to control the first UIM chipset to communicate with the UIM second chipset normally.

Abstract: A navigation receiver mounted on a moving vehicle receives navigation signals transmitted from global navigation satellites. The navigation signals are separated into direct navigation signals, navigation signals reflected from an object, and navigation signals reflected from an environmental surface. The signal separation is based on algorithms including various combinations of signal strength, change in signal strength, delay time, spectral width, change in spectral width, and user-defined thresholds. The navigation signals reflected from an environmental surface are eliminated from further processing. The position of the navigation receiver is calculated based on the direct navigation signals. The object is detected, and the position of the object is calculated, based on the navigation signals reflected from the object. If the object is determined to lie in the path of the moving vehicle, a command can be generated to avoid collision between the moving vehicle and the object.
Abstract: In a method for processing unsolicited result codes (URCs) of a communication device, keywords of a URC are extracted when the URC is sent from a modem of the communication device to an operating system of the communication device. A digital code of the keywords is obtained by encoding the extracted keywords. A function of the communication device is executed to process the received URC according to the digital code of the keywords.
Abstract: Various processes or modules described herein enable the schematic design tools to obtain physical data of a physical design and to perform one or more simulations in the schematic domain with such physical data such that the schematic design tools are made electrically aware of the physical data. Various types of data in the physical domain may be transferred to the schematic domain for the performance of one or more schematic simulations with the transferred data. The schematic designs are thus made electrically aware of such data from the physical domain and may incorporate any layout induced effects early in the schematic design stage or even at the time a schematic instance of a physical module is to be created in the schematic domain.

Abstract: Various embodiments use connectivity information or model(s), design attribute(s), and system intelligence layer(s) to make lower blocks at lower levels aware of changes made in other blocks at same or different levels to implement the design at different levels synchronously. Budgeting is performed for the design to distribute budgets to respective blocks in the design. The various budgets may be borrowed from one or more blocks and lent to a block in order for this block to meet closure requirements such that a total number of iterations of the reassembly process, which integrates lower level blocks into top level design, may be reduced or completely eliminated. The design attribute(s) or the connectivity model(s) or information is updated upon the identification of changes to provide the latest information or data for properly closing a design.
