Abstract: The invention is directed to a calcium phosphate complex and the composition containing the same for oral care applications, in which the calcium phosphate complex is formed by chelating the ?-polyglutamic acid (?-PGA) with amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP). This complex can prevent crystallization of ACP and maintain its high solubility. The calcium phosphate complex has superior mucoadhesion properties, allowing it to remain in the mouth longer and offering effective buffering, by which dental caries can be alleviated and prevented.
Abstract: The invention found that overexpression and activation of ?9-nAChR are associated with tumorigenesis of breast cancer and create a number of small interfering RNAs to inhibit the expression of ?9-nAChR so as to inhibit breast cancer. Therefore, the invention provides small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) for inhibiting expression of ?9-nAChR so as to inhibit breast cancer, methods to prevent/inhibit/treat malignant progression of nicotine-derived-compound-induced breast cancer and method of determining malignant level of such breast cancer.
Abstract: This invention relates to methods of aiding smoking cessation and/or treating and/or preventing smoking addition or methods of treating and/or preventing nicotine or nicotine-derived compounds or estrogen induced breast cancer, which comprises administering to a subject an effective amount of a tea polyphenol. The invention uses catechins (such as epigallocatechin gallate (“EGCG”), epigallocatechin (“EGC”), epicatechin gallate (“ECG”), epicatechin (“EC”), gallocatechin gallate (“GCG”), gallocatechin (“GC”), catechin gallate (“CG”) and catechin (“C”)) in aiding smoking cessation and/or treating and/or preventing smoking addition or treating and/or preventing nicotine or nicotine-derived compounds or estrogen induced breast cancer.

Abstract: This invention relates to compounds of the following general formula: The variables are defined herein. Also disclosed is a method for treating mucositis or cancer using these compounds.
Abstract: The invention provides a composite of ?-calcium sulfate (CS) hemihydrate/amorphous calcium phosphate (?-CSH/ACP), comprising ?-CSH and ACP at a weight ratio of about 10:90 to about 90:10. Particularly, the composite of the invention has a resorption period of 3-6 months. The invention also provides a one-pot process for producing ?-CSH/ACP composite of the invention. The one-pot process of the invention can produce ?-CSH and ACP in a single process and easily obtain ?-CSH/ACP composite.
Abstract: A high performance and integrated nosocomial infection control surveillance and detection system includes a patient database having a patient information, a clinical database having a patient clinical information, a nosocomial infection surveillance model with capability to detect suspected cases, an infection monitoring dashboard presenting an integrated view of a patient information and infection conditions in the clinical database for each patient. The patient database, clinical database, nosocomial infection surveillance model and the infection monitoring dashboard are built in different network servers or a network server to meet the optimum efficiency for a user to conduct infection control and early detection of infected cases through his/her account.
Abstract: The invention is to provide an isolated transgenic mammalian neural cell, which comprises at least one heterologous vector expressing AhR/ARNT. Also provided is methods the detection of a sample containing a chemical substance damage to the nervous system and the selection of drugs for treating neurodegenerative disorders.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling blood glucose level and a method for the prophylaxis or treatment of diabetes mellitus and/or its complications. The present invention further relates to an anti-diabetic formulation for controlling blood glucose level and/or for the prophylaxis or treatment of diabetes mellitus and/or its complications.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing a composite or porous composite used as a biodegradable scaffold, the composite prepared therefrom and the use of the composite. In particular, the composite is a calcium sulfate-polylactic acid composite or porous composite and the composite can be especially used as an in situ pore forming scaffold.
Abstract: The invention provides an anion-containing calcium phosphate compound, composition and dental patch comprising the same and their use in remineralizing teeth. The anion-containing calcium phosphate compound has the following formula: (Ca+2)x(anion?a)y(PO4?3)z wherein 2x=(a*y+3z); a is an integer of 1 to 3; and each of x, y and z is not 0.
