  • Patent number: 7660679
Abstract: A method for evaluating the difference between the situation on a site at a given moment and a reference state in regards to the operating conditions of tires of heavy vehicles of the civil engineering type, wherein a user determines at least one zone on the site and determines n parameters which are characteristic of the operating conditions for tires in the zone. The user allocates to each parameter a variance dimension (xi) and enters this dimension in a processor capable of performing an automatic consolidation I of the dimensions of the n parameters. The processor performs a consolidation of the dimensions of the n parameters to give I, the variance dimension index for the zone.

  • Patent number: 7652561
Abstract: A process for monitoring a tire (11 to 14) mounted on a land vehicle (VH), the process being implemented by means of a central control unit (UC) and an electronic chip (21g to 24g) implanted in a sidewall of the tire. A tire is provided with two chips (21g to 24g, 21d to 24d) implanted in its respective sidewalls, but only one of them is operational during use depending on the mounting direction of the tire. The chips of the same tire contain a given tire identification code (K11 to K14) and specific respective codes (Kg, Kd) that indicate their implantation in the tire. The process is implemented by compiling and/or updating, both in the central unit (UC) and in the operational chip (21g, 22d, 23g, 24d), historical records of the use of the tire by memorising updated values of evolutive parameters of the use of the tire, such as the number of kilometers (DIST) it has covered or its highest running speed (VMAX).

  • Patent number: 7649043
Abstract: A composition well suited to forming gas barrier layers in elastomeric articles is described. The barrier layer may be incorporated into, for instance, inflatable articles that are intended to contain a gas, such as air, under pressure. For example, in one embodiment, the barrier layer may be incorporated into a tire for preventing oxygen or other gaseous components from migrating through the tire. In general, the barrier layer is made from an elastomer that is combined with permeability reducing particles, such as a silicate, and a terpene hydrocarbon resin having a relatively high glass transition temperature. The terpene hydrocarbon resin can improve the processability of the composition and, in one embodiment, can even serve to improve the permeability characteristics of the barrier layer.
