Abstract: A vehicle rim, of revolution, intended for mounting a tire and an annular bearing support capable of supporting a tread of the tire in the event of a loss of inflation pressure from the tire. This rim includes a first and a second rim seat, each intended to receive a bead of the tire. Each of the rim seats has a generatrix the axially inner end of which is on a circle of diameter DI greater than the diameter DE of the circle on which the axially outer end is located. The first rim seat is delimited axially to the inside by a protrusion, the external diameter DS of which is greater than the mean diameter DP of a supporting bearing surface of the rim. The supporting bearing surface is formed of at least one substantially cylindrical surface of revolution of mean diameter DP extending axially between the two seats and intended to be in close contact with the bearing support.
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a continuous wave (CW) signal including a demodulator demodulating a received CW signal and providing a demodulated signal, an edge detector for detecting an edge of the demodulated signal and thereby, detecting the CW signal and a switchable short-circuit of the demodulator, edges being formed in the demodulated signal when the demodulator is temporarily short-circuited during receipt of the CW signal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for buffing tread from a tire carcass, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a signal from a sensor, the signal generated as a function of a distance between the sensor and a belt in the tire and a tire characteristic; selecting a signal response curve from a plurality of signal response curves, the selected signal response curve representing the function of the distance between the sensor and the tire belt and the tire characteristic; determining from the response curve the distance between the sensor and the belt for the signal response received; buffing tread from the tire until the distance between the sensor and the belt reaches a final distance.

Abstract: A frequency decoupling device for decoupling a first part with respect to a second part. The device comprises a rigid outer sleeve (1) which is adapted to be secured to the first part and, positioned inside the outer sleeve, a rigid inner sleeve (2) which is adapted to be secured to the second part, an elastically deformable element (3, 4, 10) being interposed between the sleeves so as to form between the sleeves at least one annular chamber (5) containing a liquid. With the chamber having an inner perimeter “Pint”, a mean height “H” on the perimeter and a mean thickness “E” on the perimeter, the mean thickness E satisfies the following condition: E ? ( P int / 2 ? ? ) 3 200000 × H , the inner perimeter Pint, the mean height H and the mean thickness E being expressed in millimeters.

Abstract: A method for controlling the slip of a tire (1) of an automobile, said tire comprising a tread (3). The method comprises adjusting said slip using the measurement of a variable linked to the surface temperature (T2) of the tread in the contact area (2) of the tire.
Abstract: A method is provided for determining tire location in a tire pressure monitoring system having the steps of generating an initiation frequency signal having a controllable output adapted to be received by a selected one of a plurality of tires of the tire pressure monitoring system. At least two tires of the tire pressure monitoring system have associated initiation signal receivers. The method also includes transmitting a response signal from the selected tire receiving the initiation signal, the response signal having at least a unique identification signal portion associated with the selected tire. The method also receives the transmitted response signal and associates the identification signal with a location of the selected tire.

Abstract: A rubber composition usable for the manufacture of tyres, based on at least a diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler and a coupling agent, characterised in that said filler comprises a synthetic metal hydroxide covered with silica, the metal of the hydroxide being selected from the group consisting of Al, Fe, Mg and mixtures of these metals. Use as reinforcing filler, in a diene rubber composition, of such a metal hydroxide. The metal hydroxide is preferably constituted of aggregates (secondary particles) of anisometric form, the primary particles possibly themselves being of anisometric form, for example in the form of rods, which imparts to the compositions of the invention anisotropic properties which are advantageous for separating their mechanical properties. Use of such a rubber composition for the manufacture of rubber articles, in particular of tyres or semi-finished products made of rubber intended for these tyres, in particular of treads.

Abstract: Compression molding method for composites including the step of forming a dough under pressure, including an amalgam of non-woven fibers randomly mixed and associated, in a defined proportion, with a thermosetting or thermoplastic material. The preparation of the dough includes mixing the fibers and the thermosetting or thermoplastic material, in a vacuum, while the forming operation is carried out by introducing the dough into a mould shaped and dimensioned to withstand high pressures. There is a molding cavity in the form of a part to be produced and provided with at least one well configured so as to accommodate, tightly, a plunger piston, which, by sliding, can pressurize the dough in the cavity, and therefore form the latter in the mould.

Abstract: A machine for manufacturing tires (P) using at least one core (N) used as a reference surface of the manufacture of the tires (P) by moving consecutively from one manufacturing station to another from the start of assembly through to vulcanisation, comprising a first line of stations, oriented in a horizontal direction XX?, capable of receiving the core whose axis of rotation rr? is oriented horizontally, and a second line of stations (200, 300, 300?), oriented in a horizontal direction YY?, perpendicular to the direction XX?, in which the stations are capable of receiving a core (N) whose axis rr? is oriented vertically. The first line of stations comprises a first (120) and a second (130) station for assembling the tire including member (121, 131) for grasping and driving the core (N) in rotation about a horizontal axis rr?, merged with the axis XX?, such members being placed opposite one another.
Abstract: A support system (3,5,54,55) designed to connect a wheel (2) to suspension elements (4,41,74,75,76) of an automobile, the support system including a cambering device that confers upon the wheel carrier (3) a degree of camber freedom relative to the suspension elements, the cambering device including a triple hinge (5), the triple hinge including three essentially longitudinal axes, the triple hinge including two flanges (52, 53) and two levers (54, 55), each of the levers being respectively attached to one of the two flanges. The levers are connected on the one hand to the wheel carrier (3) and on the other hand to the suspension elements. The camber movement of the wheel carrier takes place around an instantaneous centre of rotation (CIR r/s), a lateral distance “dl” separating the transverse position of the instantaneous centre of rotation (CIR r/s) from the transverse position of the wheel base (BR).
