Abstract: A vehicle rim (22-28; 251-252; 262; 272), of revolution, adapted for mounting a tire (30), this rim comprising a first (51; 512) and a second (52; 522) rim seat and a first and a second safety hump (571, 572) which are located axially to the inside of the seats, each of the rim seats being adapted to receive a bead (33) of the tire (30), each of the rim seats having a generatrix the axially inner end of which is on a circle of diameter DI greater than the diameter DE of the circle on which the axially outer end is located, at least one of the seats opening on to a groove (71-78; 791-793) arranged axially between the seat and the safety hump axially closest to the seat.
Abstract: A method of the type in which a strip of rubber is moved continuously from a rubber-supplier device to a consumer device. During the continuous movement and prior to reaching the consumer device, a portion, referred to as the residue, is taken continuously from the strip of rubber. The residue is taken by continuously cutting the strip of rubber. For example, the supplier device includes upstream storage means for storing the strip of rubber from which the strip is moved toward the extruder, and downstream storage means in which the residue is stored. After the strip of rubber on the upstream storage means has been used up, the upstream and downstream storage means are swapped with each other.

Abstract: The tread of a tire designed particularly to run on snowy, icy or wet surfaces. The tread comprises elements in relief (e.g., blocks or ribs), each having a running face and lateral faces. At least one element in relief is provided with an incision defined along a mean plane. The tread comprises at least two holes passing through the element in relief substantially parallel to the mean plane of the incision. Each hole opens onto two lateral faces of the element in relief, and the holes are situated on one and the same side of the mean plane of the incision in spaced relationship to the incision.
Abstract: The method consists in adjusting the pressure of a tire (5) according to a corrected set value Pcc calculated using formula (I), wherein: Pc is a set value recommended by a car manufacturer and a tire producer; Tp is the temperature of the tire (5), supplied by a temperature sensor installed in the tire, and Tref is a variable reference temperature which is selected as being the lowest temperature from the instantaneous ambient temperature measured (at 37) at the site of the inflating machine (2) and a calculated mean value for ambient temperature, the pressures Pc and Pcc being in absolute value and temperatures Tp and Tref being given in degrees K.
Abstract: A tire suitable for extended-mobility travel includes sidewalls reinforced by a sidewall insert, namely an inner insert in the inner sidewall, and an outer insert in the outer sidewall. The inserts are made of rubber composition enabling the sidewalls to bear a load corresponding to part of the weight of the vehicle in a situation in which the inflation pressure is substantially reduced or zero. The inner sidewall, and more particularly the insert of this inner sidewall, has a substantially higher modulus of extension than the outer sidewall (and more particularly than the insert of this outer sidewall). The outer insert is subdivided into at least two zones; the inner insert can comprise one or more zones, but always fewer than the number of zones of the outer insert.
Abstract: A tire for a heavy vehicle, with radial carcass reinforcement, having an outside radius R greater than 1000 mm, comprising a crown reinforcement radially interposed between the carcass reinforcement and the tread, said crown reinforcement having at least one protective crown reinforcement radially adjacent to the tread. The tire comprises a complex having at least one layer of polymer mix with an axial width that is less than the width of the working crown reinforcement and with a thickness that is greater than 16 mm, the elastic modulus of said complex having a radial gradient, the lowest elastic modulus being greater than 15 MPa.
Abstract: In a method of detecting hydroplaning and estimating an intensity of hydroplaning of a tire of a vehicle travelling over a wet ground of a road, measurements are made of stresses in the tread of the tire, a water height present on the road is estimated, and, based on the measured stresses and the estimated water height, hydroplaning is detected and its intensity is estimated.
Abstract: The present subject matter discloses apparatus and methodologies for fabricating apparatus for harvesting power from environmentally induced vibrations. Piezoelectric devices and structures (1600) are disclosed that employ constant force spring or flexure arrangements (1512) in balanced opposition configurations (1510, 1534) to enhance the power harvesting capabilities of the piezoelectric devices (1600). Power harvesting devices and systems in accordance with the subject technology may concurrently operate as sensors in motion sensitive applications thus providing self-powered monitoring capabilities.
Abstract: A fully electrically controlled electric braking system is provided for a road vehicle fitted with wheels (1). Each of the wheels is connected for rotation to at least one rotary electric machine (2) specific thereto, with at least one electronic wheel control module (23) controlling the electric machine(s) (2) of that wheel. Each electronic wheel control module (23) makes it possible to impart selectively to a corresponding wheel a control torque of determined amplitude and sign, in such a way that the corresponding wheel imparts to the vehicle a drive force or a braking force in accordance with the control torque. The system includes a central unit (3) for managing vehicle displacement, the central unit (3) controlling all the electronic wheel control modules (23). The central unit (3) has a vehicle braking mode activated by a vehicle braking control signal having a given amplitude representing a total desired braking force for the fully electrically controlled wheels.
Abstract: The invention concerns a capping board assembly and its multiple connectable sections. Each pair of sections is connected with an interlocking joint, each of which comprises at least one projection and at least one recess that cooperate and prevent the longitudinal and lateral movement of the sections. Each interlocking joint is reinforced by a rod embedded within the section and extending within the projection. The rod has a tip that anchors the projection. The interlocking joints allow precision assembly of the sections of the capping board which greatly benefits strength, installation, replacement and transportation.
Abstract: The invention relates to a tyre tread having a composition based on at least one diene elastomer, one reinforcing filler and one vulcanization system, characterized in that the composition comprises a xanthan gum powder in a proportion of 10 to 40 pce. The invention also relates to a process for obtaining a rubber composition for a tread based on at least one diene elastomer, one reinforcing filler and one vulcanization system which comprises a first phase of thermomechanical kneading of the constituents of the composition, with the exception of the vulcanization system, characterized in that the composition comprises a xanthan gum powder in a proportion of 10 to 40 pce and in that the xanthan gum powder is incorporated during the first kneading phase.
