Abstract: A method for detecting wear on a tire at one or more predetermined wear thresholds in tread pattern elements of the tire includes the steps of allocating a discrete wear variable to the tread pattern element to a discrete impedance variable representing the impedance of a passive tuned circuit contained in at least one of the elements. A system according to the invention for implementing this method comprises a detection unit intended to be incorporated in a tire and containing the passive circuit which is covered with rubber, the passive circuit comprising a coil and n (n?1) capacitor or capacitors connected in parallel to the terminals of the coil, and an active interrogation circuit to which the passive circuit is coupled, which is mounted fixed to the wheel and which comprises a frequency-sweep energy generator and a means of detecting the tuning frequencies between the passive circuit and the interrogation circuit.
Abstract: A vehicle rim, of revolution, intended for mounting a tire and an annular bearing support capable of supporting a tread of the tire in the event of a loss of inflation pressure from the tire, this rim comprising (i) a first and a second rim seat, each of the rim seats being intended to receive a bead of the tire, each of the rim seats having a generatrix the axially inner end of which is on a circle of diameter DI greater than the diameter DE of the circle on which the axially outer end is located, the first rim seat being delimited axially to the inside by a protrusion the external diameter DS of which is greater than the mean diameter DP of the supporting bearing surface; (ii) a supporting bearing surface formed of at least one substantially cylindrical surface of revolution of mean diameter DP extending axially between the two seats and intended to be in close contact with the bearing support; and (iii) a circumferential groove located axially between the supporting bearing surface and the first rim seat,
Abstract: Assembly drum of variable diameter D, intended for the manufacture of a tire blank, the drum having a generally cylindrical laying surface (2) provided with circular grooves (3) arranged axially in a zone intended to receive profiled elements of great thickness, said groove (3) containing elastic circumferential bodies (4). When the drum D is moved to a first laying diameter, a mechanical means moves the elastic body (4) radially apart from the bottom of the groove, so as to align the radially outer surface of the elastic body (4) with the laying surface of the drum (2).

Abstract: The thread 4, intended to form a carcass reinforcement, is laid in continguous hoops on a rigid core 1 by a system with at least two oscillating arms transporting an orifice 6 so as to enable it to pass over a core 1 and thus lay adjacent hoops.
Abstract: A tire includes at least one sidewall support exhibiting a substantially progressive increase in rigidity as the tire sags during depressurization. The support, which is disposed in the substantially median portion of the tire's sidewalls, includes a circumferential cord disposed in undulating manner in the sidewalls, whereby the axial position of the cord varies around the tire's circumference. At rated pressure, the structural rigidity of the sidewalls is that of a standard tire, while at reduced pressure the sidewalls rigidify in such a way as to be able to bear the load.
Abstract: A tire includes at least one carcass-type reinforcement structure anchored on each side in a bead, each bead being extended radially towards the outside by a sidewall having at least one substantially resilient circumferential cord disposed in the substantially median portion of the sidewalls. The carcass-type reinforcement structure includes a ply of carcass cords extending from the bead to the crown within a sidewall. The carcass cords are arranged in such a way that, in a sidewall zone restricted to the median portion of the sidewall, the carcass cords exhibit different respective axial positions, so as to form around the circumference a succession of substantially regular undulations defining an undulating circumferential profile. Outside of the sidewall zone, the carcass cords of the ply do not form undulations. At reduced pressure the undulations tend to straighten out and rigidify the sidewall in such a way as to be able to bear the load.
Abstract: A processing apparatus for fluid with a simple structure, high productivity, ability of precise dispersion, emulsification and grinding, is provided. The apparatus of the present invention comprises at least two processing faces of a first face and a second face, both of which are arranged in a tight-closed passage and positioned opposite to each other to constitute part of said passage, and a contact pressure applying mechanism for putting both faces 1, 2 into closed contact with each other, wherein the rotation of the second processing face 2 in respect of the first processing face 1 may cause dispersion or emulsification of the fluid to be processed between both processing faces 1, 2.
