  • Patent number: 6167126
Abstract: A switching device includes a call processing application which handles interactions with originating agents in accordance with a flexible interaction framework. The switch is provisioned with an interaction module in which a plurality of primitives, termed "collectables", each comprised of at least one instruction to be processed during execution thereof, reside. The flexible interaction framework is a list of selected ones of the collectables which are to be executed during interactions and a sequence of execution for the list of selected collectables. The call processing application handles interactions with originating agents by executing the collectables maintained in the list in accordance with the sequence of execution. At least one of the collectables maintained in the list contains instructions which, when executed, modifies the sequence of execution.

  • Patent number: 6167118
Abstract: A blended callflow method in which a spoken digit dial option is added to the caller options for dialing. By automatically switching from an implicit to an explicit mode during such an option, without requiring an explicit command from the caller, the present invention allows a more detailed call flow and allows the caller to confirm the number's accuracy, prior to dialing. The method may also switch between modes where spoken input is received near the expiration of a receiver offhook (ROH) timer.

  • Patent number: 6167124
Abstract: The herein disclosed auction service stimulates competition between service providers to carry 800 Customers' traffic and facilitates the 800 Customer's ability to make economic choices between telecommunication carriers. In this method and system, telecommunication switches route toll-free calls (e.g., calls dialed using an NPA of 800 or 888 in the United States and, typically, paid for by the called party, the 800 Customer) in accordance with economic incentives (e.g., least cost routing) resulting from an auction process between participating telecommunication carriers ("Carriers"), administered by a bidding service provider through operation of a central processor, a computer referred to as a bidding moderator (the "Moderator"). The Moderator provides each Carrier with bid information from other Carriers for at least a portion of all point-to-point routes for which any Carrier has submitted a bid.

  • Patent number: 6163707
Abstract: The power control process receives a signal from the radiotelephone over the time varying reverse link. The received signal is demodulated and decoded. The resulting signal is used to estimate the .sup.E w/I.sub.0. The .sup.E w/f.sub.0 is compared to a threshold .sup.E w/I.sub.0 to generate a power control error. This error is input to a prediction filter that anticipates increases or decreases in the power control error over the time interval of the reverse link. The result from the prediction filter is used to modify the power control bit accordingly before transmission to the radiotelephone.

  • Patent number: 6163833
Abstract: A method effectively stores data onto each of buffers included in a storage device of a processor, wherein the data is data being communicated between the processor and each of devices coupled thereto. It is first checked whether or not a flag is set to a target buffer among the buffers. If not, it is further checked whether or not a length of the data to be stored is larger than a predetermined length based on head information of the data. The data and the head information are stored onto the target buffer if the data length is not larger than the predetermined length and a flag is set to the target buffer. But, if the data length is larger than the predetermined length, the data is processed to store it onto two or more buffers.

  • Patent number: 6157826
Abstract: A method generates an authentication key to be used in an authentication algorithm at position at which a mobile station's subscriber is located. First, when there is a request to create the authentication key by a customer service center (CSC), at an authentication center module (ACM), a first type of parameters are issued and transmitted to a mobile station (MS). At the MS, a reference key to be used in creating the authentication key is then obtained on the basis of the first type of parameters to send the reference key to the ACM. A second type of parameter is derived by using the first type of parameters when the reference key is received from the MS and then transmitted to the MS at the ACM. At the MS, the authentication key is generated by using the first type of parameters, the second type of parameter and the reference key and a key generation complete message is transferred to the ACM.

  • Patent number: 6157909
Abstract: A process and device for blind equalization of the effects of a transmission channel on a speech signal. The speech signal is transformed into cepstral vectors which are representative of the speech signal over a given horizon. A reference cepstrum consisting of a constant cepstrum signal representative of the long-term cepstrum of the speech signal is calculated for each cepstral vector. Each of the cepstral vectors is subjected to adaptive filtering by LMS on the basis of the reference cepstrum so as to generate a set of equalized cepstral vectors on the basis of the calculation of an error signal between the reference cepstrum and equalized cepstral vectors. The error signal is expressed as the difference between the reference cepstrum component of a given rank and the component of the same rank of the equalized cepstral vector.

  • Patent number: 6157644
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for accelerating a router in a communications network are described. In one embodiment, a router accelerator includes a forwarding table for associatively storing a destination address and a next hop address. If a destination address of a packet matches a destination address in the forwarding table, then logic forwards the packet to a next hop. A router may be coupled to at least one network port through the router accelerator. In another approach, the network includes at least one host and at least one router. The host has at least one routing table for associatively storing a second-level destination address, a second-level next hop address and a first-level next hop address. A router accelerator includes redirect logic for storing the second-level destination address in a second-level next hop address entry in the at least one host routing table. This causes the host to request a first-level next hop address corresponding to the second-level destination address.
