Patent number: 11828851Abstract: We provide a wide-field time-resolved imaging apparatus using resonant drive. We also identify ideal configurations of electro-optic (EO) modulator crystals for wide-field imaging. These techniques enable compact and low-cost LIDAR imaging devices. Resonant drive affords modulation of various EO modulators at high voltage by means of resonant voltage enhancement. Further, it enables operation of imaging modulators at high frequencies which would otherwise not be possible with conventional pulsed drivers—this leads to improved LIDAR accuracy and dynamic range. Resonant drive uniquely enables Pockels cell LIDAR beyond normal flash mode by allowing for multiple pulses or multiple cycles of amplitude modulated illumination to be present simultaneously in a scene. This corresponds to illumination and modulation waveforms having a defined phase relationship where time-of-flight is encoded in the phase of the returning light waveform.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Adam Bowman, Mark A. Patent number: 11827653Abstract: Photoredox catalysis has emerged as a powerful strategy for C—O cross-coupling reactions. We herein report a new class of tridentate pyridinophane ligands RN3 that allow for detailed mechanistic studies of the photocatalytic C—O coupling reaction. The derived (RN3)Ni complexes are active C—O cross-coupling photocatalysts under mild conditions and without an additional photocatalyst. We also utilized the RN3 ligands to study the essential but so far putative steps involving paramagnetic Ni species in a proposed catalytic cycle: the oxidative addition of an aryl bromide to a Ni(I) species, the ligand exchange at a Ni(III) center, and the C—O reductive elimination from a Ni(III) species.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2022Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the University of IllinoisInventors: Liviu M. Publication number: 20230376817Abstract: Many embodiments describe a scalable scheme for performing quantum computation in a synthetic time dimension which uses a single coherently controlled atom. Quantum operations applied to the atomic qubit can be teleported onto the photonic qubits via projective measurement, and arbitrary quantum circuits can be compiled into a sequence of these teleported gates. The synthetic time dimension can negate the need for many identical quantum emitters to be integrated into a photonic circuit, and the single atom may provide effective all-to-all connectivity between photonic qubits.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2021Publication date: November 23, 2023Applicant: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Ben Bartlett, Avik Dutt, Shanhui Fan
