Abstract: The invention is related to particle induced radiography system, comprising a particle radiation source device, implant module, external detector device, central module and other controls, in which the implant module comprises active and/or passive components in tandem with the readout electronics and communication chosen to measure the beam properties and to generate and detect secondary gamma photons from the nuclear interactions, the external detector device provides a position sensitive gamma detector with a high detection efficiency, good spatial resolution and a relatively large field of view necessary for particle treatments useful in monitoring both the implanted device and the patient anatomical areas under treatment, and the external detector device can also be used to perform 3D spectral imaging on any material samples using proton beam as a probe.

Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel medical application using pluripotent stem cells in regenerative medicine. The present invention provides a cell formulation and pharmaceutical composition that are for amelioration and therapy for frequent urination and bladder pain caused by the inflammation of the bladder and that contain SSEA-3 positive pluripotent stem cells isolated from cultured mesenchymal cells or a mesenchymal tissue of a living organism. The cell formulation according to the present invention is considered to be based on a mechanism in which, for example, Muse cells are administered against interstitial cystitis having the abovementioned disorders to be successfully engrafted into affected bladder tissue, whereby the disorders are ameliorated and treated.

Abstract: Disclosed are a rolled (FeCoNiCrRn/Al)-2024Al composite panel and a preparation method therefor. The preparation method involves taking pure aluminum as a matrix, adding an FeCoNiCrRn medium-entropy alloy with a high strength and toughness as an reinforcing phase to prepare an FeCoNiCrRn/Al composite material, then laminating the FeCoNiCrRn/Al composite material with aluminum alloy 2024, and preparing the (FeCoNiCrRn/Al)-2024Al composite board by means of hot-rolling recombination, which solves the problem that high-strength aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) are prone to instantaneous breakability and low ductility, thereby improving the overall performance of the material. The present disclosure adopts microwave sintering (MWS) to fabricate a medium-entropy alloy-reinforced AMC, and adopts hot-roll bonding to fabricate the (FeCoNiCrRn/Al)-2024Al metal composite panel.
Abstract: A method for detecting at least one systemic condition and at least one locoproximal condition within a surgical site of a subject following a surgery is disclosed. The method includes obtaining a surgical drainage fluid sample from the surgical site and a blood sample from the subject, isolating analyte-containing portions from the surgical drainage fluid sample and the blood sample, and detecting and quantifying at least a portion of the analytes within the analyte-containing portions to produce at least one assay result, wherein the at least one assay result is indicative of the at least one systemic condition and the at least one locoproximal condition within a surgical site of a subject. At least one assay result may be provided to a practitioner and used to select at least one additional treatment.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are inventive methods of making thin films, inventive thin films, and inventive articles and systems comprising thin films. Certain embodiments are related to methods of making thin films in which reagents are arranged within a first phase and a second phase such that at least one reagent reacts to form a thin film proximate to the interface between the first phase and the second phase. Thin films (including two-dimensional materials) disclosed herein can have one or more of a variety of beneficial properties including large lateral dimension(s), lateral continuity, high mechanical strength, consistent spatial composition, and/or consistent thickness. In accordance with certain embodiments, thin films disclosed herein can be combined to form a variety of inventive multi-layer articles, including multi-layer articles comprising a combination of thin films having different compositions that interact with each other via van der Waals forces.
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition containing a synergistic combination of an imidazole antifungal agent and activated creatinine is provided, wherein the imidazole antifungal agent represents in the range of about 0.5 mol % to about 30 mol % of the combination of the antifungal agent and the activated creatinine in the composition. Methods for treating bacterial infections, fungal infections, viral infections, and wounds are also provided, as are other methods of use, including methods for disinfecting inert surfaces, methods for preserving food products, and methods for treating plants. In addition, the invention provides a method for enhancing the antifungal effect of an imidazole antifungal agent as well as a method for enhancing the antibacterial effect of activated creatinine. Compositions and methods involving use of activated 2-amino-imidazol-4-one analogs other than activated creatinine are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed are inhibitors of mevalonate pathway as an efficient vaccine adjuvant and use thereof. In particular, the inhibitor is an acetoacetyl-CoA transferase inhibitor, a HMG-CoA synthase inhibitor, a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, a mevalonate kinase inhibitor, a phosphomevalonate kinase inhibitor, a mevalonate-5-pyrophosphate decarboxylase inhibitor, an isopentenyl pyrophosphate isomerase inhibitor, a farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase inhibitor, a geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase inhibitor or a geranylgeranyl transferase (I, II) inhibitor. Also disclosed is an immunogenic composition comprising inhibitors of mevalonate pathway as an adjutant.
Abstract: A computational model may be used to predict targets of a candidate, or predict candidates that interact with a target. A plurality of pairs may be established, each including a candidate and a respective one of a plurality of controls, each of the plurality of controls known to bind with a target. For each pair, values of at least two datatypes of the candidate may be compared to values of the at least two datatypes of the respective one of the plurality of controls in the pair to generate a similarity score for each of the at least two datatypes of each pair. Similarity scores may be converted to likelihood values indicating likelihood that the candidate and the controls have a shared target based on the respective one of the at least two datatypes. Tests may be performed to validate predictions regarding interactivity of candidates and targets.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for measuring a magnetorefractive effect of an optical fiber. The system comprises a laser, a coupler A, a sensing optical fiber, a reference optical fiber, a carrier generator, a coupler B, a photoelectric detector and a data acquisition and processing module. The coupler A, the sensing optical fiber, the reference optical fiber and the coupler B form a Mach-Zehnder optical fiber interferometer. An external magnetic field influences the refractive index of the sensing optical fiber, so that the optical path difference between two paths of optical signals in the sensing optical fiber and the reference optical fiber is changed, the intensity of an interference optical signal output by the coupler B is changed, and the refractive index change of the sensing optical fiber under the action of the magnetic field is measured by detecting and processing the interference optical intensity.
