Abstract: A bullhead-shaped grooved diversion jet and empennage swing vibration suppression device and method. The device consists of an impeller diversion module and a drainage rotary cover module. The impeller diversion module consists of a center impeller, sleeve bearings, small impellers, and small impeller rotating shafts. The drainage rotary cover module consists of a drainage front cover, a perforated jet rear cover, and empennages. The device is mounted on an outer wall of a riser in a sleeving manner. Under a combined action of drainage and space allocation of horizontal rectangular grooves, flow rate distribution of the center impeller, flow direction adjustment of the small impellers, diversion of lateral diversion holes, jet flows of side rear reducing holes, flowing space division and wake vortex turbulence of rotary swinging empennages, around-flow boundary layers at two sides and a tail of the riser are deeply damaged, which suppresses the formation of large vortexes.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, and the like, for a fabrication of a particulate matter (PM) sensor that utilizes a capacitance sensor to detect sub-micrometer and nanoparticles in the respirable range of an environment. In one implementation, the capacitance sensor may comprise interdigitated electrodes between which a capacitance may be measured. PM deposited on the sensor may cause the capacitance between the electrodes to be altered and such a change in capacitance may be measured by the PM sensor. This measurement of the change in capacitance of the interdigitated capacitance sensor may therefore be correlated to the presence of sub-micrometer and nanoparticles in an environment. In one particular implementation, the PM sensor may further include a micro-heater circuit, a readout circuit, and an interface connecting the readout circuit to the micro-heater/capacitance sensor of the PM sensor.

Abstract: Systems and methods in accordance with various embodiments of the invention are capable of rapid analysis and classification of cellular samples based on cytomorphological properties. In several embodiments, cells suspended in a fluid medium are passed through a microfluidic channel, where they are focused to a single stream line and imaged continuously. In a number of embodiments, the microfluidic channel establishes flow that enables individual cells to each be imaged at multiple angles in a short amount of time. A pattern recognition system can analyze the data captured from high-speed images of cells flowing through this system and classify target cells. In this way, the automated platform creates new possibilities for a wide range of research and clinical applications such as (but not limited to) point of care services.

Abstract: A rotationally shift invariant and multi-layered array system for full-field of view and/or photon collection by 4pi steradian field of view. In the system, all of the incoming light (i.e., light from all directions), in a solid angle of 4pi steradians, is focused inside the optics. The optics have a spherically shift invariant structure, providing rotational shift invariance. The system comprises a nontraditional use of the Gabor Superlen and is a configuration of multiple microlens array shell structures with concentrically arranged bulk optical components. Examples of such bulk optical components include Luneburg lenses, micro-structured surfaces, a single lens, a plurality of single lenses, ball lenses, metalenses, diffractive optical elements, and magnetic lenses. In an embodiment, the Gabor Superlens (i.e., microlens array) is planar. In an embodiment, no moving parts are required for the system to achieve truly full-field of view imaging and/or photon collection by 4pi steradian field of view.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes a time-to-digital converter (TDC) based RF-to-digital (RDC) data converter for time domain signal processing polar receivers. Polar data conversion achieves better SNR tolerance owing to its phase convergence near the origin in a polar coordinate. The proposed RDC consists of a TDC for phase detection and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for amplitude conversion. Unlike the conversional data converter, the proposed ADC's sampling position is guided by the detected phase result from the TDC's output. This TDC assisted data-converter architecture reduces the number of bits required for the ADC. In addition, oversampling is no longer needed. With precisely controlled tunable delay cells and gain compensator, this hybrid data convertor is capable to directly convert Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) waveforms and Amplitude Phase Shift Keying (APSK) waveforms directly from the RF signal without down-conversion.
