  • Publication number: 20200061123
Abstract: A method of treating neurodegenerative diseases using hUCB plasma is presented herein. hUCB plasma attenuated the hyperactive response (Group III) and potentiated the normal response in Group I ALS patients, but did not alter that of the non-responders to PHA (Group II). The elevated activity of caspase 3/7 observed in the MNCs from ALS patients was significantly reduced by hUCB plasma treatment. The ability of hUCB plasma to modulate the mitogen cell response and reduce caspase activity suggest that the use of hUCB plasma alone, or with stem cells, may prove useful as a therapeutic in ALS patients. hUCB plasma was shown to increase therapeutic efficacy of MNCs as well as decrease apoptosis of MNCs. The cytokine profile of hUCB plasma supports its usefulness as a sole therapeutic as well as an additive to MNCs.

  • Publication number: 20200064338
Abstract: A method for measuring kinetics of Ca2+ flux in differentially responding T cells that form monolayer on the glass surface in response to antigenic peptides or live target cells comprising: immobilizing T cells labeled with Ca2+ sensitive fluorophore on the glass bottom of a well, covered with capturing antibody or a capturing protein that bind to non-stimulatory T-cell surface receptor; adding to the well a single or multiple peptide epitopes that binds to the cell surface MHC molecules to be presented for recognition by cognate T cells; the stimulatory signal could also be delivered by live target cells that display peptide epitope(s); wherein the recognition of stimulatory of pMHC by the peptide specific T cells leads to increase of intracellular Ca2+ level and fluorescence intensity in the responding T cells.

  • Publication number: 20200062657
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing a composite metal oxide hollow fibre. A certain stoichiometry of composite metal oxide raw material and a polymer binding agent are added to an organic solvent, and mixed mechanically to obtain an evenly dispersed spinning solution having a suitable viscosity. After defoaming treatment, the spinning solution is extruded through a spinneret and, after undergoing a certain dry spinning process, enters an external coagulation bath; during this period, a phase inversion process occurs and composite metal oxide hollow fibre blanks are formed. The blanks are immersed in the external coagulation bath and the organic solvent is displaced; after natural drying, the blanks undergo a heat treatment process; during this period, polymer burn off, in situ reaction, and in situ sintering processes occur to obtain the composite metal oxide hollow fibre.
