  • Patent number: 10518070
Abstract: The device for powdering a solid unit dosage form of medication and administering the powder form includes an applicator, a powdering tool and, in certain embodiments, a cap. The device is used to create a powder form from a solid unit dosage form, and then administer the powder form to a body cavity of a patient. The cap is provided with an integrated powdering tool, allowing an open end of an applicator barrel to be releasably covered thereby. Manipulation of the powdering tool creates the powder form through abrasion of a solid unit dosage form of the medication received within the barrel. The cap and powdering tool may then be removed, leaving the powder form of the solid unit dosage form to be administered to the body cavity, such as a patient's vagina or rectum.

  • Patent number: 10524344
Abstract: A laser-plasma-based acceleration system includes a focusing element and a laser pulse emission directing a laser beam to the focusing element to such that laser pulses transform into a focused beam and a chamber defining a nozzle having a throat and an exit orifice, emitting a critical density range gas jet from the exit orifice for laser wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to the mid-infrared. the critical density range gas jet intersects the focused beam at an angle and in proximity to the exit orifice of the nozzle to define a point of intersection between the focused beam and the critical density range gas jet. In intersection with the critical density range gas jet, the pulsed focused beam drives a laser plasma wakefield relativistic electron beam. A corresponding method of laser-plasma-based acceleration is also described. The critical density range may include 2×1020 cm?3 to 5×1021 cm?3.

  • Patent number: 10517543
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided to generate a multiresolution image having at least two regions with different pixel pitches. The multiresolution image is reconstructed using projection data having various pixel pitches corresponding to the pixel pitches of the multiresolution image. By using a higher resolution inside regions of interest (ROIs) in both the image and projection domains and lower resolution outside the ROIs, fast image reconstruction can be performed while avoiding truncation artifacts, which result imaging is limited to an ROI excluding attenuation regions. Further, those regions of greater clinical relevance and greater structural variance within the reconstructed images can be selected to be within the ROIs to improve the clinical benefit of the multiresolution image. The multiresolution image can be reconstructed using an iterative reconstruction method in which the high- and low-resolution regions are uniquely evaluated.

  • Publication number: 20190394484
Abstract: A method and apparatus for predictive coding of spherical or 360-degree video with dynamics dominated by camera motion. To achieve efficient compression, a geodesic translation motion model is introduced to characterize the perceived motion of objects on the sphere. Pixels in the surrounding objects are perceived as translating on the sphere along their respective geodesics, which intersect at the two points where a line, determined by the motions of the camera and surrounding objects, intersects the sphere. This motion compensation perfectly models the perceived motion on the sphere, and accounts for perspective distortions due to camera and object motions. Experimental results demonstrate that the preferred embodiments of the present invention achieve significant performance gains over prevalent motion-compensated prediction techniques, across various projection geometries.
