Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for producing rapid-hardening concrete and a method for producing same, the rapid-hardening concrete being produced by intermixing and dissipating air in normal concrete and adding an early-strength admixture thereto. With respect to forming rapid-hardening concrete, mixed concrete is formed by mixing in a large volume of air bubbles to be discarded, along with an early-strength admixture, to already mixed normal concrete, the early-strength admixture getting evenly dispersed therewithin by means of the ball bearing effect of the air bubbles, and when the mixed concrete is discharged, a rapid-hardening concrete is shotcreted while excess air contained in the mixed concrete is dissipated by means of high-performance air, the slump which was raised due to the large amount of air bubbles having been reduced to the slump range for normal concrete.

Abstract: Virus capsids protect the viral genome and play roles in its delivery and intracellular transport, making them an attractive target for antiviral therapeutics. The difficulty in targeting capsid assembly is to identify molecules that interfere with the weak protein-protein interactions that drive the reaction. We have developed an in vitro assay for capsid assembly that works on a range of viruses at biologically relevant protein concentrations to facilitate screening large libraries of chemicals for lead compounds.

Abstract: Traditional and existing methods of cervical ripening employ a Foley Bulb designed for and typically used in bladder procedures. Consequently, the application to the cervix is sub-optimal. The described device resolves this and related limitations. The device includes a balloon that has been designed to accommodate the cervix geometry, and which can adapt to normal differences in the individual. Further improvements are attained by the use of a supporting device which couples the cervix ripening device to the individual.

Abstract: Methods and systems improve quality of a hex-mesh by: performing a first iterative procedure which starts with the input hex-mesh and which outputs an output hex-mesh having improved quality. Performing the first iterative procedure comprises: initializing a current hex-mesh to be equal to the input hex mesh; for each iteration of the first iterative procedure: performing an optimization of an energy function over a plurality of directed-edges in the current hex-mesh to determine updated vertex positions for vertices in the current hex-mesh, wherein for each directed edge, the energy function comprises a term that expresses a preference for the directed edge to be aligned with normal vectors of base triangles of an edge-cone corresponding to the directed edge; and updating the current hex-mesh with the updated vertex positions; and after one or more iterations, setting the output hex-mesh to be equal to the current hex-mesh.

Abstract: Calcein-PVA film and Calcein solution dosimeters is made for high dose applications. Systematic evaluation of dosimetric properties for the films is being conducted and was found useful for routine dosimeter in industrial radiation processing. The color bleaching of CA-PVA film and CA solution increases gradually with increasing absorbed dose in the dose range of 5-30 kGy for film, and 0.25-1 kGy for solution. The dose sensitivity increases significantly with increase of concentration of CA dye. The response of the CA-PVA films was slightly affected by relative humidity and temperature. The stability of film dosimeters and solutions after irradiation was very high and were stable for up to 30 days.

Abstract: A method for evaluating quality of tone-mapping image based on exposure analysis is provided, which explores the exposure properties on each area of the high dynamic range image utilizing the pre-exposure method and divides the high dynamic range image into three parts of an easy overexposed area, an easy underexposed area and an easy natural-exposed area, wherein different quality characteristics are extracted in different areas, which is capable of ensuring that the follow-up quality characteristic extraction is more targeted. The present invention takes the difference of distortion between the tone-mapping image and the conventional image into account, and extracts image characteristics such as the abnormal exposure rate, the underexposed residual energy, the overexposed residual energy and the exposure color index, so as to accurately reflect the quality degradation of the tone-mapping image.
