Publication number: 20190380044Abstract: A disclosed system quantifies the power distribution of a wireless signal within a constrained environment using non-sequential ray tracing. For each ray, one or more ray-reflecting surface is prescreened to identify collision-eligible surfaces and identify a collision surface from the collision-eligible surfaces, wherein the collision surface is the first ray-reflecting surface that a ray collides with. A power distribution component, indicating the position and power of a ray at a particular elevation within the environment, is added to a cumulative power distribution. If a reflected ray corresponding to each collision is calculated and satisfies ray eligibility conditions, a collision surface may be determined for the reflected ray. Knowing the channel coefficient between each transmitter and receiver antenna pair at the transmitter, the method of the present invention calculates the artificial signal that minimizes the Euclidean distance between the desired and received data symbols if the precoding/combining matrix pair from the set that has the minimum Euclidean distance to the singular value decomposition (SVD) of the channel matrix is used for transmission and reception. Publication number: 20190374195Abstract: A multimodal intravascular catheter system includes a catheter with an optical channel and an electrical channel. A distal end of the catheter includes an optical element and an ultrasonic transducer, which are oriented orthogonally to a rotational axis of the catheter. A motor drive unit (MDU) is coupled to a proximal end of the catheter and includes a drive motor to rotate the catheter. The optical channel directs light from a pulsed UV laser source to the optical element, and returns an optical fluorescence signal from the optical element. A photodetector converts the returned optical fluorescence signal into an electrical fluorescence signal. An intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) processor is coupled to the ultrasonic transducer through the electrical channel, wherein the IVUS processor generates a drive signal for the ultrasound transducer, and processes echo information returned from the ultrasound transducer.
