Abstract: An approach for enabling third party video content to be assigned a higher priority for delivery over a service provider network is described. A content delivery platform determines whether a third party content provider or video content to be delivered fulfill one or more criteria for permitting the content delivery system direct access to a video on demand network of a network provider. The content delivery platform then assigns a higher delivery priority to the video content based on the direct access of the video on demand network by the content delivery system.

Abstract: A service level agreement validation device may, upon receiving a service level agreement credit request from a customer, identify a type of the service level agreement credit request; validate the service level agreement credit request based on the type of the service level agreement credit request; update a disposition of the service level agreement credit request based on result of the validation; and selectively provide a credit to the customer based on the disposition of the service level agreement credit request. The service level agreement validation device may further provide credit refunds to the customer for service level agreement credit requests determined to be valid.

Abstract: Systems and methods for geographically mapping a threat into a network having one or more network points include receiving threat information identifying a threat to a point of the network, correlating the threat information with location information for the identified network point, and network identification information for the identified network point, and generating a map displaying a geographical location of the threat.

Abstract: A call session control function (CSCF) receives, from a first user device engaged in a call with a second user device, a first Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling message piggybacked with first data related to a voice quality of an inbound direction of the call at the first user device. The CSCF receives, from a second user device engaged in the call with the first user device, a second SIP signaling message piggybacked with second data related to a voice quality of an inbound direction of the call at the second user device. The CSCF extracts the first data related to the voice quality from the first SIP signaling message, and extracts the second data related to the voice quality from the second SIP signaling message. A charging collection function (CCF) determines a bi-directional voice quality of the call based on the first data and the second data.

Abstract: A method implemented by an outdoor broadband unit includes receiving, by a broadband home router within the outdoor broadband unit, a request for services associated with a wide area network (WAN), the request originating from a device within a local area network (LAN) associated with the broadband home router; generating, by the broadband home router and based on the request, an attention (AT) command to a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) module, within the outdoor broadband unit, the LTE module providing an air interface for the WAN; executing, by the LTE module, the AT command; receiving, by the broadband home router and from the LTE module, a return value based on the executed AT command; and sending, by the broadband home router and to the device within the LAN, a response to the request based on the return value.

Abstract: A system to receive, from a user device, a request to establish a communication session to allow an emergency call to be placed or transferred to a public safety access point (PSAP) server; determine whether the request includes a first indication that the emergency call is being initiated via the user device or a second indication that the emergency call is being handed off from a base station associated with another network device, place the emergency call, to the PSAP server and via a first gateway device associated with the network device, when the request includes the first indication; and transfer the emergency call, to the PSAP server and via a second gateway device associated with the other network device, when the request includes the second indication, where the second gateway device processed the emergency call prior to being handed off from the base station.

Abstract: The instant application describes a method and an apparatus for restoring T1 service in the event of a copper cable failure. The apparatus includes an interface configured to receive a T1 signal from a first customer device experiencing the copper cable failure; a converter configured to receive the T1 signal from the interface and place the T1 signal inside an IP packet routable over a wide area network; and a router configured to receive the IP packet from converter and send the IP packet over the wide area network to a central hub for conversion back into the T1 signal and delivery to a second customer device. The method requires equipment on one side of the T1 (e.g., at the location of the failure), and does not need knowledge of the customer's network addressing scheme. Solution is completely layer 2 and needs no input from the customer to re-establish service.

Abstract: An approach is provided for utilizing dynamic bandwidth allocation for recording content. A recording manager generates a request for bandwidth for a future recording of a programming content to be delivered to a set-top box. The recording manager then receives a response indicating a dynamic bandwidth allocation for the future recording and schedules the future recording of the programming content based on the dynamic bandwidth allocation.

Abstract: A network device determines that an outgoing network-to-network interface has dropped one or more network control packets and incrementally adjusts, based on the determining, a drop threshold parameter for the network control packets to give preference to the network control packets over non-network control packets. After the adjusting, the network device monitors traffic over the interface, and preempts, based on the monitoring, a low-priority label switched path (LSP) using the interface when the interface reaches a congested threshold or when the interface has dropped one or more other network control packets. The network device restores the low-priority LSP to the interface when the interface has reached an uncongested threshold.

Abstract: A video on demand (VoD) network architecture implements a gateway that provides both satellite-based communications and radio frequency-based communications. The gateway may receive a content request from a video client and determine whether the content request corresponds to a content delivery network (CDN). When the content request corresponds to the CDN, the gateway may install a VoD access point name (APN) route designated for VoD traffic between the video client and the CDN, and communicate the content request to the CDN via the VoD APN route. The VoD APN route may include a VoD APN of a wireless wide area network (WWAN) connected to the gateway via an air interface. When the content request does not correspond to the CDN, the gateway may communicate the content request via an Internet APN route.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and an apparatus for transferring a telephone call and associated data from an IVR system to a live agent or other system are provided. An exemplary embodiment may include a voice portal of the IVR system requesting an access number for a live agent and sending data associated with the telephone call to a CTI system. The CTI system may request and receive a routing label from a router and then send the data associated with the telephone call and the request for an access number to a call center using the routing label provided by the router. The CTI system may receive the access number from the call center and send the access number back through the IVR system to an exchange carrier for transferring the caller to the call center.

Abstract: A method may include receiving a session initiation protocol (SIP) request message and determining whether a dialog exists corresponding to the request message. The method may also include determining whether the dialog is in a first phase or a second phase when a dialog exists corresponding to the session control protocol message and querying a table indicating valid protocol requests for the determined phase to determine whether the received request message is valid. The method may include rejecting the request message when determined that the request message is not valid.

Abstract: Data is received from a media gateway relating to a congestion level in the media gateway. In a computer having a processor and a memory, at least a first datum and a second datum included in the data are evaluated. Based on the evaluation, it is determined whether the congestion level exceeds a predetermined level. The congestion level is reported, including whether the congestion level exceeds the predetermined level.

Abstract: A fraud management system is configured to store rules for detecting fraud, receive a transaction from a merchant, process the transaction using a first subset of rules to generate a fraud score for the transaction, and output information regarding the fraud score to the merchant to assist the merchant in determining whether to accept, deny, or fulfill the transaction. The fraud management system is further configured to receive, after outputting the information regarding the fraud score to the merchant, additional information relating to the transaction, re-process the transaction using a second subset of rules to generate an update fraud score, and output information regarding the updated fraud score to the merchant to assist the merchant in determining whether to accept, deny, or fulfill the transaction.

Abstract: A communications center supports sales and/or customer support services corresponding to a plurality of business affiliations. Operator terminals within the communications center are configurable. A management module manages the allocation of the operator terminals between the plurality of different business affiliations being supported by the communications center. The management module loads a set of configuration information into an operator terminal to match a determined business affiliation with a customer's communications device capabilities. At different times, e.g. corresponding to an initial communications session and a follow-on communications session, the same customer may be connected to different physical operator terminals and be communicating with different actual operators; however, from the perspective of the customer, the customer is made to think that the communication is with the same operator terminal and same operator.

Abstract: A method storing information that indicates similarity between contents based on content metadata associated with each content, wherein a degree of similarity between contents is based on a semantic interpretation of plot metadata included in content metadata and pertaining to each plot associated with each content; receiving a search query from a user; retrieving one or more content metadata pertaining to one or more contents based on the search query; retrieving one or more recommended content metadata pertaining to one or more recommended contents that are similar to the one or more content metadata pertaining to the one or more contents based on the stored information; and providing a search result that includes the one or more content metadata and the one or more recommended content metadata via a user interface.

Abstract: A system may include a digital video recorder. The digital video recorder may provide a list of recorded television programs, receive selection of a television program in the list of television programs, and receive information identifying a segment to be filtered from the selected television program. The digital video recorder may further create a filtered television program by marking the segment as hidden or deleting the segment, where the segment is not visible when the filtered television program is played, and store the filtered television program.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a promotion system 1) detecting a promotion opportunity based on a condition associated with a migration of a user account from being associated with a first digital video recording (“DVR”) system to being associated with a second DVR system and 2) providing, based on the detected promotion opportunity, promotional content for access by a user associated with the user account. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: In an exemplary method, mobile device attribute data is received from a plurality of mobile devices over a network. The mobile device attribute data includes location data representative of a plurality of geographic locations associated with the mobile devices. The method further includes selectively aggregating the mobile device attribute data and generating traffic condition data based at least in part on the mobile device attribute data. The traffic condition data is representative of at least one traffic condition. In certain embodiments, the mobile devices include mobile telephones and the network includes a mobile telephone network. In certain embodiments, the traffic condition data is real time data. In certain embodiments, at least a portion of the traffic condition data is provided for access over the network.

Abstract: A device receives, from a user device, a search query for video content listings in a video catalog. The device identifies, based on the search query, a set of relevant video assets from an index of the catalog content and determines dimensional values of the search query. The device determines a subset of the relevant video assets based on filtering usage metrics, for the set of relevant video assets, against the dimensional values. The device calculates a popularity value for each video asset in the subset of the relevant video assets and ranks each video asset in the subset of the relevant video assets to form a ranked list. The device sends, to the user device, a response to the search query that includes the ranked list.
