Abstract: A distributed market based control assembly used in conjunction with fixed or movable structures. Typically multiple actuators are attached to the structure, with each of the multiple actuators having an actuator controller to control actuator applied force. Sensors are used for measuring structure movement, and a marketwire is connected to each actuator controller to convey price information to the actuator controllers by analog fluctuations in electrical characteristics of the marketwire. Actuators can be used to stabilize a fixed structure against movement, or alternatively can be used to control movement of movable structures from defined first positions to second positions (e.g. moving a robotic arm so its tip moves from point A to point B).

Abstract: A CCD camera 10 picks up multiple adjacent targeted portions on a document 2, and to obtain distance information, a distance measurement unit 11 calculates the distances to the targeted portions of the document 2. Based on the distance information, a synthesization controller 16 prepares perspective information for the images, adjusts the sizes of the multiple obtained plane images so they correspond, and synthesizes the resultant plane images to form a single image.

The detachable unit is a detachable unit detachable to an image forming apparatus, the detachable unit has a memory part storing information containing control information, and upon mounting the detachable unit on an image forming apparatus main member, operation of the image forming apparatus is controlled based on the information stored in the memory part.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for squeezing an input hue, Hin, toward a region of preferred hue, Hpref, having a preferred chroma, Cpref, and luminance, Lpref, to restrict the rotation effect to a point in LCH space rather than an entire hue slice. This method involves defining a chroma weight as: Cweight=Gaussian(Cpref,Csigma); defining a luminance weight as: Lweight=Gaussian(Lpref,Lsigma); defining a hue weight as: Hweight=Gaussian(Hpref,Hsigma); defining an amount of hue adjustment as: HAdjust=?H*(Hweight*Cweight*Lweight); and finally, generating an output hue by applying hue adjustment to hue input such that: Hout=Hin?HAdjust.
Abstract: In an apparatus for recording an image, a light transmissive waveguide defines a thick end, a thin end, and a main plane disposed between the thick end and the thin end. An image-recording device is disposed adjacent the thick end of the waveguide, the image-recording device being capable of recording a two-dimensional image. The light-transmissive waveguide and the image recording device are arranged whereby the image recording device records an image placed on at least a portion of the main plane.

Abstract: A data link module includes: a cable comprising an electric wire and optical fibers aligned with each other; a substrate disposed at one end of the cable; signal medium conversion elements performing conversion between an electric signal and an optical signal; an electric terminal that is electrically connected to the electric wire of the cable; and an electric connector that is electrically connected to the signal medium conversion elements and the electric terminal respectively.
Abstract: An image data generation part 400 generates image data, attaches a tag to the image data, and then outputs the resultant data. A screen processing part 420 carries out a screen process on the image data in accordance with the characteristic indicated by the tag, and outputs the tag to a parameter generation part 428. The parameter generation part 428 adjusts a parameter of a correction process in an image processing part 424 so that a detected misregistration does not interfere with the screen characteristic. The image processing part 424 applies such a correction process as to cancel a detected misregistration in an output image to input image data in accordance with the parameter of the correction process as input. A print processing part 440 controls an apparatus main body 2 to cause it to print corrected image data.
Abstract: In a mixed raster content (MRC) image data format, where a separation plane is used to define portions of the image to compressed in a lossy or lossless manner, edge pixels are identified in the separation plane. Each edge pixel is modified to assume a maximum luminance and most neutral chrominance found among neighboring pixels. The modification of the edge pixel data minimizes artifacts such as fringe effects when the image data is compressed and subsequently decompressed.

Abstract: An intermediate transfer device has: an intermediate transfer belt supported by a plurality of belt supporting mechanisms so as to be able to circulate, and having elasticity at least in a direction of circulating; a first bias applying mechanism applying a first bias voltage to toner on a toner carrier surface of the intermediate transfer belt; a layer thinning mechanism contacting the toner carrier surface and electrostatically attracting the toner which is on the toner carrier surface so as to thin a layer of the toner; a second bias applying mechanism applying a second bias voltage to the toner whose layer has been thinned; an image carrier carrying a visible image to be transferred onto the toner carrier surface, the toner on the toner carrier surface, to which the second bias voltage has been applied, being transferred onto the image carrier; and a toner removing mechanism removing the toner on the image carrier.
Abstract: Embodiments herein generally relate to printing systems and methods that use toner and more particularly to a system and method that observes the distribution, for different levels of transfer field, of mass per area of toner remaining on the drum/belt as the drum/belt transfers the toner. The distribution is compared to predetermined standards and/or other networked printing systems to evaluate characteristics of the toner. Actuators can then be used to improve the toner characteristics resulting in improved print quality within a printing system and improved printing consistency between internally or externally networked printing systems and/or marking engines.

Abstract: Various systems and techniques are disclosed for stopping, selectively controlling, and optimizing a flow of particles in a flowing stream. The systems and techniques utilize a multi-electrode assembly and various voltage waveforms applied to those electrodes. The particles flow past or near the electrode assembly and their flow is controlled by the configuration and arrangement of the electrodes and the voltage waveforms applied thereto. An additional strategy for countering particle leakage flow is also described.
