Abstract: An image processing apparatus is connected to and accesses a database that stores items of characteristic quantity information to be used for recognizing, in image data, respective objects and items of color information of the respective objects, the characteristic quantity information and the color information are correlated with each other for the respective objects. A controller performs image recognition processing on image data using the items of characteristic quantity information stored in the database, and acquires color information of an object that has been recognized in the image data by the image recognition processing. The controller searches the database to retrieve the color information indicating a color of the object recognized by the image recognition processing, and identifies a color space of the image data by comparing the acquired color information with the retrieved color information.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus has a case, an image carrier, an endless belt and a contact member, provided in the case. The image carrier supports an image. The endless belt contacts the image carrier and it is detachably attached to the image carrier. The contact member contacts the endless belt and moves with the endless belt when the endless belt is detached from the image carrier. Moreover, the contact member is pulled out from the case by separating from the endless belt, where the endless belt contacts the image carrier and the endless belt removes it from the image carrier.

Abstract: The method first defines a population for Product Cash Revenue and a population for Product Lease Revenue and calculating the mean, median, and variance of the populations and determining therefrom the normality of each of the distributions. Next, the variances of each of the distributions are compared for equivalency by a Homogeneity of Variance test. If each of the distributions are not normal and the variances are not equal then the fair market value is not determinable. Otherwise, if each of the distributions are not normal and the variances are equal then the method further comprises determining if the medians of each of the distributions are equivalent by Mann-Whitney. If the medians of each of the distributions are not equivalent then the values of the leases are adjusted by the lowest constant in whole dollars until the means of each distribution are equivalent.

Abstract: An apparatus for connecting two devices includes a pin connected to a portion of a first device, the pin having first and second conical ends, and a bushing connected to a second device, the bushing having first and second sides and a perimeter. The bushing has an opening in its perimeter that is large enough to allow the pin and the portion of the first device connected thereto to pass completely through the bushing.
Abstract: A collection vessel 124 is formed with a plurality of collection spaces 148a to 148f separated by partition walls 146, and collection ports 134 and 136 are connected to the collection spaces 148a to 148f. The collection spaces 148a to 148f are made to communicate with each other through a communication part 152. A developer intake section 154 implementing a full condition detector is placed below the communication part 152. A detection vessel is placed in the developer intake section 154 for detecting a full condition based on the developer overflowing the collection spaces 148a to 148f.
Abstract: A method for the automatic detection of colorimetry of CMYK image files includes the calculation of differentiation metrics based on colorant relationships, saturation, and luminance. Summary statistics, such as the means and standard deviations of the differentiation metrics are used to describe a set of known image colorimetry classes. At least one classifying algorithm is used to assign a known colorimetry class to an image of unknown colorimetry. Preferably at least one of the classifying algorithms is a Bayesian Quadratic Classifier algorithm. Mahanalobis distances are used to find the most appropriate colorimetry class to assign to an image. A color image processor operative to automatically detect image colorimetry comprises a training image analyzer, a colorimetry detector and a class associator.
Abstract: A method of adjusting print uniformity in a xerographic device is provided. The method includes: a) printing a test pattern, b) transferring the printed test pattern to a scanner, c) scanning the printed test pattern and detecting line information, d) communicating the detected information to a computer, e) determining measurements from the detected line information, f) calculating the difference between the measurements and target values, and g) depending on the difference, adjusting a current supplied to an individual LED of an LED printbar associated with the measurement to reduce the difference. In one aspect, a test pattern line is associated with an individual LED. In another aspect, test pattern lines are associated with two adjacent LEDs and three adjacent LEDs. In yet another aspect, the test pattern includes dotted lines. In still another aspect, the invention includes a xerographic device with an LED printbar, a computer, and a scanner device.
Abstract: An improved method and system for laser doping a semiconductor material is described. In the invention, phosphorous nitride is used as a dopant source. The phosphorous nitride is brought into close proximity with a region of the semiconductor to be doped. A pulse of laser light decomposes the phosphorous nitride and briefly melts the region of semiconductor to be doped to allow incorporation of dopant atoms from the phosphorous nitride into the semiconductor.
Abstract: A sheet registration system for a sheet transport path of a reproduction apparatus providing positive feeding yet lateral registration of a wide range of different image substrate sheets. Independent sheet transport units with plural radius sheet feed rollers spaced along the sheet transport path engage sheets being fed to provide positive feeding of even very short sheets from one sheet transport unit to another, yet provide automatic opening of the nips of selected units to allow lateral registration movement of even a very long sheet in the downstream lateral sheet registration system. The same drive motor rotatably driving each sheet transport unit is controlled in rotational position to selectively open the number of open sheet feeding nips needed for the lateral registration movement of that particular sheet length. The mating idlers for the sheet feed rollers need not be moved to open the nips.
Abstract: A method and system is provided for splitting a print job lacking page independence into selected job portions wherein the job portions can be independently processed in a plurality of processing nodes into a printer dependent format for printing by a printer. The print job is searched for selected tokens/idioms known to normally generate a fault upon the independent processing if the print job were to be split into the selected job portions that were intended to be handled independently. The selected tokens found in the search are saved. The print job is then split into the selected portions and the tokens are then associated with the split job portions for guaranteeing processing independence during the processing by the processing nodes.
Abstract: In the case where the paper size and paper type other than that stored in the tray of the printer is specified by the printing job data, through registration to the alternative table an alternative printing is performed on the papers stored in a predetermined tray. Even in the case where there is no paper of a specified size and type the next time on, the printer does not become in the paper disagreement error condition, and the printing processing is executed. Thus, it is not necessary to change the setting of the tray or depress the CONTINUE switch in each printing job data, and the printing processing is continued. Therefore, operability in users is enhanced.

Abstract: A method, information system, and computer-readable medium is provided for segmenting a plurality of data, such as multimedia data, and in particular an image document stream. Segment boundary points may be used for retrieving and/or browsing the plurality of data. Similarly, segment boundary points may be used to summarize the plurality of data. Examples of image document streams include video, PowerPoint slides, and NoteLook pages. A genetic method having a fitness or evaluation function using information retrieval concepts, such as importance and precedence, is used to obtain segment boundary points. The genetic method is able to evaluate a large amount of data in a cost effective manner. The genetic method is also able to run incrementally on streaming video and adapt to usage patterns by considering frequently accessed images.
