Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying body, a heating unit, a pressure unit for applying pressure, a recording medium supporting member, and a depressing/close-contacting unit. The recording medium supporting member moves in the same direction as the image carrying body moves, from a pressure position where the pressure unit applies pressure to the recording medium and the image carrying body to an exfoliation position where the recording medium is exfoliated from the image carrying body while supporting the recording medium overlapped with the image carrying body. The depressing/close-contacting unit sandwiches and depresses the recording-medium supporting member and the image carrying body in a middle position between the pressure position and the exfoliation position to closely contact the recording medium with the image carrying body.
Abstract: A method for calibration of touchscreen display coordinates includes displaying a calibration target; sensing a calibration touch for the calibration target; obtaining a calibration touchpoint coordinate for the calibration touch; determining if the calibration touchpoint coordinate is valid; and if so, storing the calibration touchpoint coordinate in a touchpoint history database and using calibration touchpoint coordinates to define a calibration reference point for operation, otherwise generating a computed reference calibration point as an average of using a predetermined number of the calibration touchpoint coordinates in the touchpoint history database.
Abstract: An improved and lower cost color spectrophotometer, especially suitable for an on-line color printer color control system, in which plural different spectra LEDs sequentially perpendicularly illuminate a common and substantially circularly illuminated color test area, which may be variably spaced and variably oriented relative to the spectrophotometer, through a common central lens system, and also the reflected illumination therefrom may be measured at 45 degrees thereto by averaging the outputs of photodetectors spaced around that circularly illuminated color test area, to provide reduced sensitivity to the variable angular or azimuthal orientation of the color test area relative to the spectrophotometer, and which photodetectors may be so illuminated by 1:1 optics for spatial insensitivity.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for on-line predicting an analytical model of a dynamically varying color reproduction device comprises recursively executing a parameter adjustment algorithm for updating the parameters to the analytical model. Parameter adjustment is computed based upon a measured error signal detected between a sensed signal detected from actual device output and with an insitu sensor, and the analytical model output. The adjustment algorithm is recursively executed until parameter convergence effects a minimal error measurement, at which time the updated parameters are identified as accurate within the selected parametric model.
Abstract: A method for cutting belt material to accurate dimensions and for forming the mating edges of a puzzle cut joint for joining the ends of the belt material to form a continuous belt for use in a document processing application. The belt material is maintained in accurate registration a punch press by optical sensors at each station. A vacuum pickup is constructed to move the belt material from a precision cutter to a punch press and maintains the material in tensioned condition to facilitate accurate operation of the punch press.

Abstract: A development system having a magnetic developer material that features novel coated carrier particles. In embodiments of the invention, the coated carrier particles incorporate a coating of sufficiently resilient characteristic so as to maintain the encapsulation of the respective carrier core while withstanding the mechanical action of a development material stripping device which would otherwise cause fragmentation of the carrier particles. Preferably, the carrier coating is of a sufficiently thick and/or a resilient nature such that the desired encapsulation is maintained.
Abstract: There are provided an instruction form retrieval apparatus for retrieving an instruction form accessible to a user based on information on the user, an instruction form execution apparatus, an instruction form management system having the instruction form retrieval apparatus and the instruction form execution apparatus, and an instruction form retrieval method for retrieval of the instruction form accessible to the user based on information on the user. An instruction form retrieval apparatus of an instruction form management system retrieves information on an instruction form management apparatus holding an instruction form accessible to a user, based on information on the user, and transmits information on the instruction form management apparatus to an instruction form execution apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention is an organic light emitting device (OLED) comprising an anode, a cathode and a luminescent region provided between the anode and the cathode. The luminescent region comprises an electron injection and transporting zone and at least one of a hole injection and transporting zone and a mixed charge transport layer. One or both of the electron injection and transporting zone and the mixed charge transporting layer comprises an azole compound represented by formula I and/or II. The provision of the novel azole compounds of the invention as electron transport materials within an organic electroluminescent device advantageously reduces power consumption and increases power conversion efficiency within the device and as such, are suitable for a variety of display applications.

Abstract: Provided is a timing control unit that controls timing for performing a desired operation of a belt-like member at least at two operating positions including a first and second operating positions. The distance between the first and second operating positions is set to a multiple of a perimeter of the drive roll. The timing control unit includes a clock generation part for generating a clock signal having a constant period in accordance with rotation of the drive roll, and a count part for counting the clock signal generated by the clock generation part. The count part counts the clock signal generated by the clock generation part for the number corresponding to the multiple of the perimeter of the drive roll, thereby operation timing at the second operating position is synchronized with operation timing at the first operating position.
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet recording method using a first liquid and a second liquid wherein at least one of these liquids contains a colorant. The method includes providing the first liquid on a recording medium and providing the second liquid so as to be in contact with a region where the first liquid has been provided on the recording medium, to thereby form an image. The contact angle of the second liquid with respect to plain paper is less than 85° and the contact angle of the second liquid with respect to the region where the first liquid is provided on the plain paper is 60° or more.
Abstract: An analysis and evaluation apparatus analyzes, for organizations and individuals, the communication content of email, and extracts common words for each organization. The analysis and evaluation apparatus compares common words and concepts for an organization or an individual that is to be evaluated, with common words and concepts for other organizations, and performs an evaluation to determine how they influence the other organizations. Thereafter, the analysis and evaluation apparatus analyzes the usage level whereat the other organizations utilize the organization or individual to be evaluated. And then, based on the usage level and the number of organizations that are influenced by the organization or the individual to be evaluated, the analysis and evaluation apparatus evaluates and ascertains the value of the organization or individual to be evaluated, and analyzes and stores a time-transient change as to how others are influenced.
Abstract: The present invention analyzes recorded video from a video camera to identify camera and object motion in the recorded video. Keyframes representative of clips of the recorded video are displayed on a user interface that allows a user to manipulate an order of the keyframes. Editing rules are then applied to the keyframes to intelligently splice together portions of the representative clips into a final output video.
