  • Patent number: 4477038
Abstract: A spinning reel includes an anti-reverse mechanism for selectively preventing a rotor from rotating in a reverse direction, and a click device for selectively producing clicks when the rotor rotates in the reverse or forward direction. The click device includes a click pawl engageable with a click gear rotatable with the rotor to produce clicks, a switch lever for enabling the click pawl to engage with and disengage from the click gear, and a brake lever for keeping the click pawl engaging the click gear when the rotor rotates in the reverse direction. Clicks can be generated as desired when the rotor rotates in the forward or reverse direction. When the rotor rotates in the reverse direction, the click pawl is caused by the brake lever to engage the click gear to produce clicks and simultaneously resist the reverse rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4470554
Abstract: A spring biased lever 11 controls the axial compression force exerted on a drag force generating mechanism 18 via cooperating pairs of pivotally mounted operating and pressing levers 12, 16. The minimum drag may be set to a desired value by eccentric cams 24a rotated by a control knob 28 and which engage and act as limit stops for the pressing levers 16. A single finger of the rod gripping hand operates the drag lever, which may continuously increase and decrease the drag force above the preset level. The line spool 5 may be idled as there is no operative coupling between the rotor drive and the drag force generating or control mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4469285
Abstract: A coil winding machine winds a wire about a core to form, for example, one-half of a television deflection coil. The wire is spun about the core by a flyer arm which is rotated about an axis and guides the wire over a series of pulleys rotatably mounted thereon. The wire is pulled through the bore of a tubular shaft, which carries the flyer arm, which shaft is driven rotatably and reciprocally along its axis. The core is removably held in a clamp which is fixed to a tool holder having gear teeth, preferably a sector of a worm gear. The tool holder is driven to obtain a rocking motion during the winding operation by a worm mounted on a drive shaft. That drive shaft is rotatably held in the cross-member of a cradle assembly which cradle assembly is pivotally mounted on the base and rocked back and forth during the winding operation.

  • Patent number: 4448362
Abstract: A turntable is rotated to wind the tape of a taped program thereon in equal lengths per revolution thereof. Each equal winding forces the preceeding windings inwardly on the turntable to assume progressively curving paths as the respective windings recede from the periphery of the turntable. Pressure pads are equally spaced around the periphery of the turntable and rotate therewith. The pressure pads extend radially, and frictionally engage the top edges of the tape windings which follow increasingly curved paths therebetween as the equal windings are forced inwardly by succeeding equal windings. The ends of the tape are connected leaving a portion of the closed loop formed thereby for engagement by associated apparatus and rendition thereby of the taped program.

  • Patent number: 4447044
Abstract: A control system for one or more hydraulically driven crane winch drums each having a hydraulically actuated clutch and a brake. Included is a negative braking mechanism having a brake cylinder of the single-acting, spring-return type for normally holding the brake applied by the force of the spring and releasing the brake on fluid pressure actuation. A mode selector valve selectively delivers hydraulic fluid under pressure from two separate sources to the clutch and the brake cylinder in order to condition the winch for a selected one of winching, brake-locking, and free-fall modes. The mode selector valve causes the negative braking mechanism to release the brake in the free-fall mode, so that a positive braking mechanism is also provided to permit the operator to arrest the free fall of the load, or the free running-out of the cable, in an exact position desired.
