  • Patent number: 5535995
Abstract: An adaptor member for mounting a column that operably supports at least two vise-like clamping assemblies in a predetermined orientation on a support surface of a milling table. The vise-like clamping assemblies include movable support members that protrude from a corresponding surface of the column and have removable jaw members attached thereto. The adaptor member is equipped with cavities adapted to receive therein the movable support members of a clamping assembly to enable the column to be supported on the adaptor member. Locating members are provided to locate a surface of the column member relative to the adaptor member in a predetermined confronting orientation. The column member is removably attached to the adaptor member using pins that are also used to removably attach the jaw members to their corresponding movable support members.

  • Patent number: 5535647
Abstract: A friction clutch wrench in the style of locking grip pliers for imparting torsion to an object. Jaws open to access the work from the side, and then close and lock rigidly around the work. Once locked inside the jaws, the work engages a friction clutch ratchet mechanism provided in the confronting jaw faces. When the wrench is turned in one direction about the work, the friction clutch grips the work and imports torsion to it. When the wrench is rotated in the other direction, however, the friction clutch permits free rotation of the wrench about the work.

  • Patent number: 5533931
Abstract: A grinding wheel for grinding a workpiece has a first grinding surface and a second grinding surface successive thereto. The first and second grinding surfaces are parallel to and inclined with respect to the rotational axis of the workpiece, respectively. A diameter of the workpiece to be ground in a next grinding operation is measured in advance. An angle to be formed between the second grinding surface and the rotational axis of the workpiece is selected based upon the measured diameter of the workpiece. The selected angle is established between the second grinding surface and the rotational axis of the workpiece. The grinding wheel is moved relative to the workpiece in a direction of the rotational axis of the workpiece, whereby the cylindrical surface of the workpiece is firstly ground by the second grinding surface and subsequently ground by the first grinding surface of the grinding wheel.

  • Patent number: 5533926
Abstract: A sandpaper pad and a pad support of corresponding shape is provided for use with a detail sander. The sandpaper pad and pad support each has a substantially 90.degree. forward corner formed by a pair of facet edges. A pair of outwardly inclined straight side edges extend rearwardly from the facet edges on opposite sides of the pad center line each being outwardly inclined from the center line 10.degree.-30.degree.. When the straight side edges are in use, the forward corner is inwardly offset, thereby minimizing forward corner wear.

  • Patent number: 5533428
Abstract: A wrench allows the user to apply sequential strokes to a rotatable element such as an hexagonal nut or bolt without removing the wrench from the element.sub.--. The wrench has a head with two jaws adapted to engage the rotatable element. A spring-mounted, retractable jaw member is linearly slidable within a slot in one of the jaws and biased toward the base of the wrench head. The retractable jaw member also has an exposed engaging surface on one side. The opposing jaw has another fixed engaging surface extending substantially parallel to the engaging surface on the retractable jaw member. The two engaging surfaces cooperate to grip a rotatable element and apply torque to the element to rotate it in one direction. On the return stroke, a relatively small amount of resistance from the rotatable element forces the retractable jaw member inward into its slot, allowing the wrench to rotate back around the element without turning it in the reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 5531637
Abstract: A horizontal full automatic centrifugal fluidizing barrel processing apparatus which does not damage working environment and offers superior working efficiency. When two disk members are rotated together with a revolutionary shaft, a planetary moving mechanism provided in one of the disk members revolves rotary shafts around the revolutionary shaft and rotates the rotary shafts on their axes. Rotary pinching mechanisms installed in the rotary shafts (a part of a barrel pinching mechanism) pinch and rotate airtight cylindrical barrels. Hydraulic cylinders (the remainder of the barrel pinching mechanism) actuate the rotary pinching mechanisms on the side of one of the disk members to release the pinch of the barrels. A barrel handling mechanism 10 carries a released barrel out of the apparatus and set an untreated barrel.

  • Patent number: 5531428
Abstract: The invention discloses an adjustable closure force control device for a screw-type vise and a method for selectively controlling the closure force of the vise. The control device uses a nut barrel for threadingly receiving a screw of a screw-type vise with a movable vise jaw being operatively connected to the screw so that advancement of the screw through the nut barrel results in vise jaw closure about an article to be held. The closure force control selectively controls the advancement of the screw through the nut barrel in response to the resistance to movement encountered by the movable vise jaw. In a preferred form of the invention, a compressible detent plunger cooperates with a series of apertures spaced about the nut barrel periphery. This allows the nut barrel to rotate with the screw, ending screw advancement and jaw closure despite continued screw rotation, when the predetermined resistance to jaw movement is encountered.

  • Patent number: 5528963
Abstract: A ratchet hand tool including a stop plate and an urging element for controlling clockwise or counterclockwise of a ratchet being provided on two base plates which may be grip with the hand. One end of the ratchet is provided with a joint element having a ball and an elastic ring. A rotary element is fitted onto the joint element. When a longitudinal rod is inserted into the joint element to urge against the ball inside the joint element, the ball displaces outwardly to expand the elastic ring, which in turn urges tightly against the rotary element. In cooperation with a polygonal hole of the rotary element, the longitudinal rod is caused to turn when the rotary element is rotated, so that screws may be driven in or out quickly.

  • Patent number: 5529532
Abstract: A miniature motorized hand held dental saw wherein, like with a coping saw, the axis of rotation of the handle of the dental saw is tangent with the outer diameter of the blade. This important characteristic, combined with the use of a flexible blade, enables the operator to change, as needed, the direction of the cut without any snagging or binding effects. The dental saw is composed of a main steel body on which are attached three flanged Teflon.TM. coated bearings that support and guide a 0.004 thick annular diamond coated blade. The rotation of the blade, on these flanged bearings, is created by a drive assembly consisting of two opposite wheels, a drive wheel and a follower wheel, each wheel composed of a hub on which is fitted a neoprene o-ring. The opposite o-rings create an equal pressure on both faces of the blade which they make rotate. The power is transmitted to the assembly by means of a drive cable that is connected to a motor situated in a remote stationary work station.
