Abstract: A piece of internal tissue of the sclerotium of Poria cocos (Fr.) Wolf is transplanted into an artificial culture medium to subject it to pure culture of hyphae of said microorganism, thereby obtaining mycelia, and the thus obtained mycelia are extracted with at least one medium selected from the group consisting of water and water-soluble organic media. The resultant substance has an excellent ani-tumor activity and is low in toxicity.
Abstract: A new medicament which stimulates non-specific immunity and contains a phenol-soluble extract of micro-organisms, wherein the phenol-soluble extract or fraction thereof of bacteria, yeasts and/or protozoa is rendered water soluble and free from endotoxin, substantially free from phenol and used in a portion for stimulating the receiving organism.

Abstract: An improved styptic composition which effectively curtails bleeding while administering a soothing sensation on the injured area. The styptic composition is in the form of a stable lotion or cream having the following general formula:(1) from about 2% to about 12% by weight of a long chain fatty acid;(2) from about 0.4% to about 3.5% by weight of a wax filler;(3) from about 1% to about 10% by weight of polyethylene glycol stearate;(4) from about 1% to about 5% by weight of polyethylene glycol sorbitan beeswax; and,(5) from about 0.5% to about 25% by weight of an acidic metallic salt,(6) the balance being water.Optionally, from about 1% to about 4% by weight of glycerin may be added as a humectant.Any conventional antiseptic may also be added to the composition. The styptic composition may be packaged in any convenient form including jars, bottles, tubes, pump applicators, aerosol canisters and can also be impregnated into pre-packaged bandages.
Abstract: A cosmetic composition for application to the hair contains either (a) at least one compound having the formula ##STR1## wherein:R is hydrogen, alkyl or halogen; andR' is hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, carbamylalkyl, mesylaminoalkyl, aminoalkyl, acylaminoalkyl, monoalkylaminoalkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, piperidinoalkyl, morpholinoalkyl, carbamoyl, acyl or carbalkoxy; or (b) at least one of said compounds having formula I above and at least one benzene or heterocyclic oxidation base. The invention also relates to new couplers of formula I as well as to new indo compounds which result from the coupling of said compounds with an oxidation base. These cosmetic compositions for application to the hair are useful in direct dyeing, oxidation dyeing or simultaneous oxidation and direct dyeing of said hair.
