Abstract: Disclosed is a method and a system for a Push-To-Talk (PTT) over Cellular (PoC) session open between PoC clients supporting various types of media. Although a PoC client providing an Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) PoC multimedia communication service supports a plurality of uncommon types of media, it is possible to open a session according to media types in an independent and easier manner. Also, when a new media type is supported by a new participant during a session, it is possible to add the new media type when granting the next floor. In addition, it is possible to selectively transmit media according to media types based on the PoC user's choice.

Abstract: Methods for providing a group play list for a plurality of multimedia content records include associating respective ones of a plurality of users associated with a user network with corresponding ones of the multimedia content records on the group play list. A presence status of the respective ones of the users associated with the user network is detected. Rendering of the multimedia content records on the group play list to the users associated with the network is automatically adjusted based on the detected presence status. The user network may be, for example, a computer based social network.
Abstract: A method and system for operating a satellite communication system with regional redundant sites and a central site includes a satellite and a regional site uplinking regional uplink signals to the satellite and condition signals to a terrestrial communication link. The satellite generates regional downlink signals from the regional uplink signal. A central site receives the regional downlink signals from the satellite and terrestrially receives the condition signals and generates control signals for the regional site through the terrestrial communication link.

Abstract: A communication system including a first station having at least two first narrow beam antennas and a second station having at least two second narrow beam antennas. The first and second stations establish a first communication path for wireless communication via a pair of first and second narrow beam antennas. When communication via the first communication path is disturbed by obstacles, the first and second stations automatically establish at least one alternative communication path, which is spatially different from the first communication path, for wireless communication using the at least two first narrow beam antennas and the at least two second narrow beam antennas.
Abstract: An ad hoc network with distributed hierarchical scheduling is disclosed. In one aspect, stations in a network mesh detect interfering neighbor stations and form interference lists. Stations transmit their interference lists. Scheduling stations schedule allocations for child stations in response to interference lists, received remote allocations, or a combination thereof. Coordination messages are transmitted including frame structure, allocations, and interference lists, among others. In another aspect, an ad hoc mesh network may be organized into a tree topology. In an example wireless backhaul network, this matches traffic flow. Distributed, hierarchical scheduling is provided where parents schedule communication with children while respecting already scheduled transmissions to/from interferers and to/from interferers of their respective children.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for representing a conversation of related messages is provided. In a message collection user interface for displaying messages sent and received by a communications device, a dynamic session placeholder is used for a respective conversation of related messages. The message collection user interface is displayed including any dynamic session placeholders in the list of messages. As messages from the conversation are occasioned, the dynamic session placeholder is updated. When the message collection is displayed, it is displayed in accordance with the updated session placeholder.
Abstract: Disclosed is a secure remote repeater. The secure repeater includes a first remote control signal detector, a remote control signal processor and an emitter. Among other functions, the secure repeater can forward secure remote signals to an electronic device using non-secure commands native to that electronic device. Additionally, the secure remote repeater can filter remote signal chatter.

Abstract: A system for managing the simultaneous operation of a plurality of radio modems in a single wireless communication device (WCD). The multiradio control may be integrated into the WCD as a subsystem responsible for scheduling wireless communications by temporarily enabling or disabling the plurality of radio modems within the device. The multiradio control system may comprise a multiradio controller (MRC) and a plurality dedicated radio interfaces. The radio interfaces are dedicated to quickly conveying delay sensitive information to and from the radio modems. The modems may further include control features that take information from the MRC as an input in determining the priority of messages to be sent out to a receiving device.

Abstract: A device for adjusting a transmit power spectrum of a subscriber device of a communication network, having a means for receiving an attenuation measure for an attenuation, which a signal experiences on its way from a transmit/receive means to the subscriber device of the communication network connected to the transmit/receive means, from the subscriber device, a means for determining a modified attenuation measure and shaping coefficients for a frequency-dependent shaping of the transmit power spectrum based on the attenuation measure determined by and received from the subscriber device, and a means for transferring the modified attenuation measure and the shaping coefficients to the subscriber device.
Abstract: When a judging unit judges that there is no mobile-apparatus transmission data, a first generating unit decreases a reference value for generating a transmission-power control command, by a value equivalent to an amount of an outer-loop adjustment. A second generating unit compares generated reference value and a line quality that is measured by a measuring unit, when the former is larger than the latter, generates a transmission-power control command for reducing a transmission power of the mobile apparatus, and when the former is smaller than the latter, generates a transmission-power control command for increasing the transmission power of the mobile apparatus.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting information for a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) is provided that facilitates a mobile communication device receiving a specific MBMS without any difficulty when the device moves from one area to another area. By providing MBMS status information to a controller in the area from which the device moved, the controller in the area from which the device moved can either establish an additional channel to provide the MBMS to the device or initiate a relocation of control of the device to a controller in the area into which the device has moved.

Abstract: A method for managing a digital multimedia broadcasting channel includes receiving a broadcast data frame that includes an occurrence change field, and performing a service update responsive to reconfiguration version data defined within the occurrence change field. Alternatively, the method includes transmitting a broadcast data frame that includes an occurrence change field, and causing a receiving terminal to perform a service update for a new channel responsive to reconfiguration version data defined within the occurrence change field. A digital multimedia broadcast terminal includes a receiver for receiving a broadcast data frame that includes an occurrence change field, and a controller configured to generate a control signal causing a service update responsive to reconfiguration version data defined within the occurrence change field.
Abstract: A communication terminal device, a communication system, a communication method, and a program which allow efficient communication processing via multicast communication, along with power saving. The communication terminal devices includes a wireless communication unit comprising: a multicast ACK generating unit which makes it possible to transmit packets having an ACK function; a multicast ACK analysis unit which analyzes received packet data for ACK information; wireless transmission and reception units which perform modulation and demodulation processing; and a central control unit and a timing control unit which control these components. The ACK function is thus implemented by multicast packets in multicast communication. This makes it possible to check if its own transmission data is received by other stations (communication terminals).
