  • Patent number: 7574228
Abstract: Stored in an each speaker's sound volume coefficient table 13 are a speaker identification ID and information of a voice coefficient so as to be correlated with each other. A speaker identification unit 11 extracts an each speaker's ID from a received packet based on floor control information or outputs the packet as an RTP packet to an RTP buffer. A sound volume control unit 12 executes a control program 14a of a recording medium 14 to record a current speaker identification ID and reads a sound volume coefficient relevant to the speaker identification ID from the each speaker's sound volume coefficient table 13 to output the coefficient as sound volume control information. In this case, the sound volume control unit 12 increments/decrements the relevant sound volume coefficient based on sound volume adjustment information of a sound volume adjustment unit.

  • Patent number: 7558604
Abstract: To conserve energy, components in mobile devices have to transition less frequently between “active” and “sleep” modes, and to sleep for longer intervals. In accordance with at least one preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is broadly contemplated herein an approach for remote discovery of wireless client and access point configurations, especially those settings associated with the power consumption of the client's wireless interface. Methods contemplated in the preferred embodiment use packet probing techniques to determine the client and access point configurations remotely. The probing techniques include sending packets to the client device, over the wireless LAN, at intervals calculated using data publicly available on the wireless LAN technology in use and results of previous packet probing measurements. Measurements from several packet probes and methods for statistical data processing are used to make a determination.

  • Patent number: 7558593
Abstract: An adjustment of the target signal to interference ratio (SIRtarget) at the start of each transmission (N) uses an Outage-Based OLPC method, which establishes the ratio (SIRtarget) as the sum of a first component (SIRoutage-tgt) that adjusts quickly to the conditions of the communications channel and a second component (SIRBLER-tgt) that is adjustable according to a target block error rate (BLERtarget) The stored values of the two components (SIRoutage-tgt, SIRBLER-tgt) in at least one prior transmission (N?1) are used obtain convergence of the target ratio (SIRtarget) by setting the initial value in the transmission (N) for the first component (SIRoutage-tgt) equal to a value higher than the average values for the first component (SIRoutage-tgt) and setting the initial value in said transmission (N) for the second component (SIRBLER-tgt) and setting the initial value in said transmission (N) for the second component (SIRBLER-tgt) equal to the average of the values of the second component (SIRBLER-tgt).

  • Patent number: 7548760
Abstract: A closed loop power control based on receiving a continuous quality feedback is described. A main reverse link (RL) pilot is controlled by the quality feedback of a substantially continuous delay-sensitive traffic stream, such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP), when such a stream is enabled. When such a stream is not enabled, the quality of a continuous RL overhead channel is used to control the pilot power. At the same time, the Traffic-to-Pilot Ratios (TPR) of contemporaneously transmitted delay-sensitive data streams are independently adjusted based on a quality feedback associated with each such data stream.

  • Patent number: 7526278
Abstract: A method and system for providing targeted advertisement information to consumers over a wireless communications network. In one embodiment, local advertisers register to advertise on certain wireless communications devices that are in close proximity to the advertiser. As a consumer enters a cell site that is near the location of the advertiser, the wireless network delivers a message to the wireless device that is specified by the local advertiser. An acknowledgement signal is then received by the network, and the local advertiser's account is charged for transmission of the advertisement. In a further embodiment, each of the messages stored in the database is also associated with one or more demographic codes, and users of wireless communications device select from one more demographic codes to describer their advertisement preferences.

  • Patent number: 7509139
Abstract: When one base station to which a terminal is to connect is determined from a plurality of base stations in a wireless communication system, the best base station is selected according to the communication quality or the content of communication services. In the wireless communication system, the plurality of base stations are classified into a plurality of groups. Indexes of communication quality between the base stations and the terminal are obtained and, for each group, the characterizing quantities of the indexes of communication quality are calculated. The base station group with which the terminal is to communicate is specified based on the characterizing quantities. One of the base stations in the specified group is determined as a communication destination base station.
