  • Patent number: 4687425
Abstract: A sintered cam ring is secured to the inner surface of a cylindrical body by means of a bolt. A fuel injection pump has a rotor which supports a roller rotating along the inner surface of the sintered cam ring and is driven by an engine. The sintered cam ring is provided in the outer surface thereof with a groove extending along the central axis thereof. A positioning member for fixing the position of the groove and that of a pin hole formed in the body for receiving a bolt is inserted such as to stretch between the groove and the pin hole. Further, a bolt is employed to secure and tighten the positioning member fitted in both the pin hole and the groove from the outside of the body.

  • Patent number: 4685381
Abstract: In a pivot bar portion of a piston shoe in a radial piston device wherein the pivot portion is pivotably borne in a bed in the piston which extends normal to the longitudinal axis of the piston, recesses are provided parallel to the pivot axis whereby bearing lands are formed between the recesses. The bearing lands are tracting fluid out of the recesses along themselves and the bearing bed face of the piston, when the shoes pivot in the piston. A perfectly operational forced lubrication between the pivot portion and the piston is thereby assured which results in a long life and very high bearing capacity between the piston and the piston shoe.

  • Patent number: 4685380
Abstract: The former art provides multi stroke hydrostatic motors, which perform at a single revolution of the rotor multiple inward and outward strokes of the pistons. A high torque was thereby obtained. The invention discovers, that the known multi stroke motors are still too heavy, obtain small overall efficiencies and their power per size and weight is limited because the known motors failed to provide means to carry the tangential loads by fluid pressure power. The invention increases the power and efficiency of multiple stroke motors by the provisions of control means to control the flow of fluid pressure into pockets open to the piston faces and cylinder walls, whereby the torque of the rotor is transferred from the pistons to the cylinder walls by pressure in fluid in the pockets. The invention also provides means to enlarge the stroke of the pistons in a given size and weight of the device.

  • Patent number: 4681513
Abstract: An accurately controllable two-stage pump assembly comprising two plunger pumps connected in series. The suction port of the outlet pump A is connected to the discharge port of the inlet pump B, so that the discharge port of the outlet pump A and the suction port of the inlet pump B act as the discharge port and the suction port, respectively, of the whole pump assembly. While the inlet pump B is delivering fluid from the whole pump assembly, the outlet pump A completes the filling stroke of the whole pump assembly and fully increases the pressure inside the chamber of the outlet pump A. While the inlet pump B is filling, the outlet pump A is in the stage of displacement stroke and delivers fluid from the whole pump assembly. The plungers of the pumps are moved via cams by stepper motors which swing or rotate back and forth within a certain angular range.

  • Patent number: 4681023
Abstract: On piston shoes in radial piston pumps, motors and engines the radial load which is excerted by the pressure under the piston onto the piston shoe is to a high rate borne by hydrostatic bearings between the piston shoe and the inner guide face of the piston stroke actuator ring. At high revolutions per given time the centrifugal forces appearing from the masses of piston and shoe increase drastically which results therein, that the bearing capacity of the hydrostatic bearing fails to bear the increased load. The invention gives rules how additional hydrodynamic bearing portions can become provided on the outer portions of the piston shoes, whereby those portions will carry an additional load by hydrodynamic actions. Since the bearing capacity of such bearing portions increases with increase of the rotary speed of the device, the applicable range of revolutions per minute can be increased by the application of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4679987
Abstract: Stalling of liquid ring pumps during start-up is prevented, without the need for a separate liquid pump or other means for initiating or sustaining the flow of make-up pumping liquid into the pump, by providing a bypass conduit for initially conveying some pumping liquid from the relatively high liquid pressure side of the pump to the relatively low liquid pressure side of the pump. This helps the pump establish the internal liquid distribution needed to form a viable liquid ring and create the gas pressure differential necessary to initiate and sustain the inflow of make-up pumping liquid.

  • Patent number: 4678404
Abstract: A low volume submersible pump assembly has features to stabilize the operation. The pump assembly includes a centrifugal pump driven by a submerged electrical motor. The centrifugal pump has an impeller configuration that is designed for high specific head, but potentially unstable operation. At the design speed, the pump potentially could deliver an indeterminate flow rate for a given head. Also, at the design speed, the design flow rate will yield a design head that is very close to the maximum head at zero flow. The pump has the characteristic of requiring a significant increase in torque to produce higher flow rates. To stabilize the potentially unstable pump, a variable speed drive varies the speed of the motor to maintain constant torque. Maintaining a constant torque allows a considerable variance in head with only a small variance in flow rate resulting.

  • Patent number: 4678403
Abstract: The invention concerns a bilge pump control system. Sensing of water level in the bilge is accomplished by the conduction of current (on the order of one milliampere) between two stainless steel probes. The probes are mounted in a triangular package which is placed in the boat bilge. When immersed, a conduction path is provided between the probes. One edge of the package is aligned with the probes to enhance water run-off. An associated circuit is activated when the conduction path is present (when the probes are immersed) which operates the bilge pump in a time-hysteresis fashion.

  • Patent number: 4673335
Abstract: A hydrokinetic amplifier 10 that combines a liquid and vapor to produce an amplified liquid output pressure is used for compressing or liquifying gas by admitting gas to be compressed into a region where the liquid and vapor are in contact and the vapor is accelerating the liquid. The admitted gas is allowed to merge with the liquid and vapor and become compressed or liquified within the pressurized liquid output. A mixture of liquid and compressed gas can be used directly for purposes such as cleaning, or the liquid and compressed or liquified gas phases can be separated in the output so that either one or both can be used.
